We are planning to go to Disney World in early January (Sunday, January 3 through Friday, January 8). Can anyone tell me about crowds at this time? We're hoping most will be heading home after celebrating Christmas with Mickey!

In addition, this is a big family trip (taking the in-laws -- grandparents, and adult sons with their wives for their FIRST Disney trip ever!). There will be 8 adults, and two small children. We are planning on renting four studios, or a combination of one-bedroom + 3 studios, or two-bedroom+2 studios. Our home resort is Saratoga Springs, but we'd like to take them to Boardwalk since it's their first Disney experience. What are the chances of getting a "standard" view when booking seven-months out?

Thanks for the help, and any tips you may have for a "magical gathering"!

That is pre-Marathon time so you may find that BWV standard view rooms are booked up, but the only way to know for sure is to call exactly at 7 months. On Jan. 3 some of the holiday stuff may still be up and I would recommend seeing whatever you can the first night or 2 (especially Osborne Lights at DHS and the ice castle at MK). Crowds will be pretty low. Have fun!

We were there that same week this year. Not to discourage you, but crowds were definitely not low. I'd say they were "moderate". Wait times were far better than they were the week before (New Year's Eve week) but there were still long lines for the most popular rides (ToT, Toy Story mania, all coasters, etc.) That said, we'd definitely visit again at this time of year. I think that the post-holiday holdovers plus the incoming marathon crowd make that week a fairly popular one these days.
