EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

Kathryn, where did you order yours from? With all of this talk about the Passporter, I decided to get one too. I was just going to get the paperback one and on the passporter site they are all out. I am thinking maybe about getting the last version. I am not sure.

Monday we are having a re-dedication and S'mores event to celebrate the newly formed Girl Scouts of Colorado. Our magazine sales started a couple of weeks ago. We only do the magazines and then cookies. We don't do nuts or calendars. We only have 5 girls in the troop this year, I am not expecting a lot in the way of magazine sales this time around.

Our new merged GS council was offiical July 1 and our new council name is a mouthful. We went from GS of Midcontinent Council to GS of Northwest Kansas and Northeast Missouri. We merged with GS of Midland Empire (St Joseph MO and GS of Kaw Vally Council (Topeka KS). Fortunately the headquaters is still in KC just down the road from my work. This is going to ge a crazy year. Last year I had 8 Daisys this year I have 15 1st and 2nd grade Brownies. I thought my first graders were full of energy last year, but the second graders have them beat. Our cookie sale starts the first Sat. in Nov.

Our council name went from Moingona (that noone could pronounce or spell) to Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. At least people know where we are now. It is crazy though, we cover almost the whole state. The fall product person for the council is based in Des Moines, center of the state. She was on the Nebraska line on Wednesday (2 1/2 hours) and the South Dakota/Iowa line (3 hours) on Thursday doing trainings. That would not be the job for me.

I got my PassPorter through their website, then you get 15% off your next purchase (which in my case is the newer versions when they come out).

It is going to be 80 here today but very windy, tomorrow high of 70 and rain, never the same thing twice.

Christi - The website was out when I tried to order the PassPorter, too. I found the April 2006 PassPorter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of Call on Amazon.com. The PP will be updated in January 2008, so I think the 4/2006 one is the most current paperback one.

If anyone is interested, I can pass along my copy (I didn't get the organizer, I just got the paperback guide) when I'm finished. Just send me a PM with your information.

How strange - we have GS fall product sales (magazines, nuts, calendars) that begin Oct. 1st, but our GS cookie sales don't begin until late January (just as people are on their New Year's Resolution diets). I guess the bakers stage the baking and delivery by region so they're not overwhelmed? I just assumed everyone was on the same schedule.

I'll take a couple of boxes of Tagalongs. Can I have them delivered to our stateroom? :lmao: :woohoo: :lmao:

Mmm...girl scout cookies. I haven't had those in over 3 years.
I miss though thin mints.

I was just looking for something in my freezer and saw that I have a box of tagalongs in there and I think I saw some thin mints too.

If we're taking orders, I'll take some Samoas (or whatever they're called now) for me and Thin Mints for my Dad.

Stacie, what instraument does your son play? I always wanted to do marching band, but when I went into high school in Germany we didn't offer it. I looked at doing it here in college, but wearing the wool uniforms at games when it's 100 degrees outside would kill me.

I would love to bring you all cookies, but we just take orders in November, the cookies aren't delivered until January just in time for our diets. Our magazine sales are in the spring. The thin mints don't last long in our house. We've bought cookies from our nieces the last several year, this year DD will be selling for the first time. Just glad I'm not the cookie mom though it might be a lot less work than being troop leader.

Went to the store yesterday and picked up material to start making our pirtate pirate: costumes. DD's still fits from our last cruise but DH and I didn't dress up. We're all planning to dress up this year. I guess I will be testing my sewing skills.

We don't get cookies until January either, I still have some in my freezer though, they last forever in there. Our council also switched cookie bakeries this year we no longer have Samoas but Carmel Delights, no Tag Alongs, now they are Peanut Butter Patties. They taste pretty much the same though and we got a couple kinds that we didn't sell before.

William-DS has been playing the trombone since 5th grade. He doesn't really like band but I told him he at least had to try one year of high school marching band. He came home last night after they won and said it was fun, now he doesn't want to quit. He did play cello in the orchestra until this year, I let him quit that because he's in choir too and he can only take two music things. DD will have to make the same choice eventually, she plays viola, percussion, and sings.

I spent four hours last night trying to book our excursions/Palo dining on the DCL website. In the end, I was able to get Palo dinner for Tuesday (early seating only) and our excursions booked. It was painful!!! The server kept crashing at the very last step of the process. They are having major problems with the website this morning as well.

:) The good news-- I now know my cruise reservation number by heart (logging it in 125 times in a row will do that).

:sad2: The bad news--- no Palo brunch ressies were available. I'm bummed but will keep trying!.

Very cool. I play the French horn (well...I haven't really played in about a year. :sad1: I looked at it the other day and all the valves are stuck and the slides won't budge :sad2: ). I started in 4th grade. I first looked at the sax or the trombone, but my teacher wouldn't let me since we had too many people playing those. Oh well. Ironically, my sister also plays the viola, and dabbles in the cello and bass.

Congrats to your son for the win!:cheer2:

Oh no! I did just check the website and it's showing Palo dinners available on the days we're in Port Canaveral (all sittings), Grand Cayman (1 sitting - 8:30 PM), Cozulmel (all sittings), and Castaway Cay (all sittings). Plus I see one brunch sitting (11 AM) on our second sea day (Day 6). High Tea is available on Day 3 at 3 PM.

ETA: I checked reservations for 3 guests. Could that maybe be it? Would it be just you there or all 3 of y'all?
