We are flying and using the Disney transportation. How do we make it on time to an 8:20 ADR at Crystal Palace if the busses don't start running until 8? We are staying at Art of Animation.

Buses will start running at 6:30 a.m. to get guests to the parks for early ADRs. If you're out at the bus stop by 7:15 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. you should have no problem making your ADR at CP.
Thanks guys! It sounds like the buses indeed start running earlier than I thought. That's good to know, since I was worried about getting to RDs on time, too.
As for a taxi, that might actually be a good idea for that one morning. I wonder if a taxi can hold six of us?
Just ask for a taxi van. They cost the same per mile and can handle up to seven. There are tons of them at WDW because of all the large family groups.
In general, getting a taxi at a Disney resort is incredibly easy. Just walk out front and tell the guy at the valet desk that you need a cab to the Contemporary for 6 people. He'll call for a van, which will usually take less than 5 minutes to arrive. Often there are cabs waiting and ready to go in the mornings because people need them to get to their reservations.
My tipping strategy is generally to figure 10-20% (depending on generosity and how good the service is) on top of the meter rate, then round up to the nearest dollar. They will make change, and IIRC they have credit card machines. From AoA to Contemporary is likely to be $20 or so, plus tip. So if the meter says $19.80, and I feel like 15% is appropriate, I mentally add $3.20 to make it $23. I give the driver $25 and say "could I get $2 back please?" Done.
