Dysfunctional and outdated iPad app -- can no longer log in.

I don't even think there's a mod on this board to help save problems because they mostly go unanswered, but maybe a nice Dis'er has a solution. When I open the iPad app and click on my subscriptions tab to read thread updates, I get a message saying I can't view my subscriptions because I'm not logged in. Then, when I click on the log-in tab, the screen where I type in my user name and password briefly appears, but after one or two seconds, the screen turns black. I've tried closing and re-opening the app, but the problem persists.

I'm so fed up with the app that I rarely post on the Disboards anymore with the exception of a couple favorite threads. It would at least be reaffirming to know that someone out there in the Dis app world is working on these problems or would at least respond and tell us they are sorry there won't be any new apps or updates, but all we ever get are chirping crickets.

Forget the app. It's junk and no one seems to want to fix it.

Use the regular website through whatever browser you use on your ipad. I use Atomic because it blocks ads, but you can use Safari.

That's what I've done, but now don't frequent this website as often because it runs soooo slow. I block all of the ads, so that isn't an issue. The app was much cleaner and easier to use on my ipad than the web browser. The Dis needs to stay up with the technology, but it appears as though they don't care.

Try logging out of the app and then logging back in. I had an issue that the app told me to log in, then wouldn't accept my login for a long time. I changed my password on my desktop, so went to logout & re-login with the new password, and my login worked just fine.

That said, I almost never use the app. It has more problems than it's worth.

This is exactly what keeps happening to me. I try to login but the screen just goes black, and I can't do anything.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but it made no difference.

I had the same problem with the screen going black. Out of frustration I typed in my username anyway,hit return and typed my password. It worked!!! Try typing in the black screen even though you won't see anything.

Well it worked, but it didn't. It told me I was logged in successfully, but it is treating me as if I am not. I can't see my profile, subscriptions, or reply to any posts. It just gives me an error message saying I need to be logged in.

This is so frustrating!!! I haven't been able to get on the Dis for months because real life has interfered, and now when I can finally get back on, I can't get the app to work.

I deleted the app, went to the website and changed my password, reinstalled the app, but I believe it's just stored in the cloud with the same info, so now it won't accept my new password. I still get the black screen so I typed in my user name on the black screen, but can't click into the password box (because I can't see it on a black screen). I typed it in anyway and just get "incorrect password." I used 4 of my 5 password attempts. I don't see an option for logging out of the app. So that I can try to relog in in with the new password. I give up!

I don't think it really matters because logging in doesn't help anyway. The app still doesn't work. It looks like unless they send out an update to fix these bugs, we are all just stuck using the web.

Which sucks because it is a lot harder to keep track of your posts and who replies to them on the web.

Having the same problems. I just had to revert back to the website. The app is good to view posts, but I can't post or subscribe to things in the app.
