Nathan seems to have developed his first illness. It started last on Wednesday afternoon. He seemed to go from feeling just fine to screaming and rapidly developing a fever. Thankfully I was able to get him in to see the Dr. that evening. He had a little nasal congestion last weekend so I was concerned that he might be developing an infection of some kind. The Dr. took a look and said that his ears/throat looked fine and that it was probably just some sort of viral infection and to give him Tylenol and Pedialyte.
Since then he seems to have spells where he acts very normal and then other times when he must feel miserable. You can just see it in his eyes.
I have ZERO time off from work thanks to my extended maternity leave so DH was home with him last Thursday/Friday. It was so hard to be at work knowing that DS was feeling so bad.
He is still really fussy and sleeping a lot more than usual. I am still worried about him. He seems to develop low grade fevers throughout the day but they go away quickly. Also, his congestion is much worse but he just screams if I try to use the aspirator. I have read that you cannot use decongestants on infants less than 6 months old and I don't know what to do. I set up a humidifier with some Vicks in it for night and I try my best to use the aspirator to clear out his little nose but he just sounds terrible.
I guess I am going to have to call back the dr. tomorrow. I feel so helpless and I hate seeing him feel so bad.
No one informed me that a medical degree was a prerequisite for parenting.
