Driving from AK to FW-- Time?

Hope this is an OK spot to post this-- FW is a Resort, right?

After everyone else in our Grand Gathering leaves for home, we'd like to take advantage of our increased flexibility (read: Less kids to "head count" and moms/dads-aunts/uncles to wait for...) and I'd like to spend the day at AK and head to FW to go to Trail's End for dinner (that $27/$13 ADR for the dinner buffet at Tusker House is just killing me...:faint: ) I know it is 11 miles from AK to FW (or so the charts tell me), but what I'd like to know is what amount of time might I expect it to take driving my own vehicle?

I am considering doing an ADR there, but gee, I have so many of those I'd kind of like to avoid it and therefore I won't have a "deadline" to speak of. Still, I'd hate to think 1/2 hour and have it be lots longer since I know the lines increase as it gets later. The last time I went to WDW AK and MGM didn't exist so all we ever did was take the monorail or a bus to FW. I don't know if it is still the wide and smooth roads I remember or ??

Anyone a driver and able to give me an idea? :drive:

Thanks!!

Your total trip, including internal FW bus should be right about 30 to 45 min, max. TE doesn't generally fill up except at special times of the year, free dinning, holidays ect..

Thanks Maggie! I looked at the Camping at FW Thread and saw the map...I think it is probably a lot smarter to go from AK back to the Poly and then take the boat over to FW. I never realized that we would be parking at the whole other end of FW! Rather take our time and enjoy the ride back that way.

I appreciate the answer--

I'm sure you know this already but just in case...there is no boat from Poly to FW, you will need to transfer at MK to the FW/WL boat(pay attention not to get off at WL).

Thanks for the reminder...

our trip was originally scheduled for the WL until we morphed from 4 to 13! I think I'm still mixing and matching my resorts... I'm sure I'd have it figured out before I screwed it up, but thanks for the heads up. (This is part of the reason I am trying to plan all my options out way ahead...) You really are terrific--

Heidi
