Don’t you turn that commercial- it’s my 30 second Disney fix! TR Link Posted

Enjoyed catching up on your PTR.
I love Maya & James Mermaid & Crab outfits. They looked so adorable!
We went to both waterparks & I would have a hard time picking between the two. They both were equally fun to us.
We stayed at CBR this past time & enjoyed the resort. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
Congratulations on Chris getting his vacation approved & the praise from his boss!

OMG what great news!!!!! :hug::hug::hug:

I am soo happy for you and for your DH hanging in there and doing so well!!!

Thank you

It's so great that your vacation has been approved! I'm sure the hazing must be hard on your DH, but he is earning the respect he deserves by sticking with it. :thumbsup2

and thank you :flower3:

thanks for the compliments on my family! we are very excited to try CBR!
It looks like there will be plenty to entertain us there!

so her Kindy is just half day? I always find it interesting that places do it so differently. Ours is 5 days, 7am - 215 pm. Believe me, i am not ready to get up at 545! i am a total night owl, as is Maya. I wish they transitioned them in there- maybe 3 days first semester, 5 second, or something like that.

the trader LGMH sounds cool! I'll have to put that on my list too!

We have a McLaren Triumph and a Baby Jogger City Series strollers. Last trip we put Elizabeth in the McLaren and Rachel in the jogging stroller...but her knees are up into her chest, so it's not comfy...but as you said, it's cheaper than renting one.

Rachel is size 8-9 Gymboree clothes and is somewhere over 48" (haven't measured her in a while!).

I can't believe that Rachel is that tall! Thank goodness for slims, right? Maya is pretty much a 7 there. She can do 6 bottoms but i like the length of 7 better. I thought she was a good height... we will still have to wait for the next trip for the 48" rides though.

We did the leash for Rachel when she was 2 at WDW ... but really didn't need it. Now that Elizabeth is 2, I'm not going to use it again. In fact I just sold it at a consignment sale! I'm hoping that is not a mistake. However, Elizabeth is not the type to run off on her own. If anything she'll follow her big sister.

well, if you are like me, you never need something until you get rid of it:lmao: i found one to use though so i figure better safe than sorry. hopefully we wont need it.

Re: the meal plan. Don't upgrade the meal plan. I typically find the portions to be large enough that you can find food from your plate, your husband's plate and Maya's plate to share with the youngest. Get one healthy dessert (like fruit) and ask that it be brought with the meal.

Also, you can always order something extra OOP like more veggies or a side of mashed potatoes or applesauce or an extra bun if you make one of your meals a double-cheeseburger or order an appetizer.

This is cheaper than upgrading and then you only order extra food as you need it. I know with Elizabeth sometimes she just stuffs her face and I wonder how a 2yo can eat like that. Then a day or two later, she hardly touches her food.

I think we are sticking with what we have, even though the cost of upgrading is so very little when the dining is free. The price came out so close between the two options that Chris agreed we should stay on the kids side. Although James prefers adult food, Maya doesn't, so we might as well stay fair. Thankfully James is starting to slow on his eating a bit.
It also helps that many of our meals table service meals are buffets or similar.

So does DH watch any of the chef shows like Top Chef or Hell's Kitchen or Iron Chef? Just curious what he thinks of them.

We don't get whatever channel Top Chef is on, so we don't watch that one. He does watch Iron Chef some. He gets frustrated at Hell's Kitchen- at least the last few seasons. He's not really sure why they pick the contestants that they do. They never seem to have the right knid of experience. He *almost* tried out for them last year when they had tryouts here. The only reason he didn't was because he ended up starting his new job the same day as the tryouts.

His favorite restaurant show is Chopped. Have you seen that one? He loves to come up with his own meal plans from the basket contents. Actually, when he applied for his current job, one of the interviews was like that show. He was given a few surprise ingredients and then had to build a few meal courses/ create a menu.

What area is he a chef at? When you say casino, I immediately think Las Vegas but I can't recall where you are from.

We are in West Tennessee. There is an area called Tunica Mississippi close to here. Tunica has maybe 15 or 20 casinos (and pretty much nothing else). It's about a 1hr drive from here. His casino is owned/ managed by the same group as many of the Vegas casinos.

That is awesome news that the EC gave such high praise to your DH!! Sometimes the person that gets treated the hardest is b/c they have the most potential.

That's what i think it is, but of course i'm biased:goodvibes

I know it's not nice at the time but hopefully your DH can take it as a very tough but very good learning experience!

see comments above.

I LOVE  watching Chopped! Okay, so I'm addicted to Foodnetwork anyway. :lmao: That's neat that your DH does his own Chopped! I'm horrible in the kitchen (and considered auditioning for Worst Cooks - but couldn't afford to fly to the auditions :rotfl2:).

Our Kindergarten is 750 - 215 (they let out 30 mins earlier than the rest of the school). They transition the students by starting off with 2 days a week for a week, then adding a day for a week or two, and building up. Within the first 6 weeks (or so), they're all day, every day.

I like that transition.

Did you seriously almost apply? Dh always tells me I should go on that show lol! My meals can pretty much either be made in one pan or put in the oven. I learned a long time ago not to cook for dh. The first meal I ever made him, I started a grease fire in the pan waiting for oil to boil:rotfl:
(hey, I was young!) I've learned to stay away from cooking oil. And thankfully, he's not home for dinner much or he would probably starve!

Yes, I seriously looked into the application and priced out airfare. :lmao: If I could have afforded the fare and got brave enough to fly, I would have auditioned. (And probably would have been sent home first episode with Robert or Anne saying I was hopeless. :lmao::rotfl2:)

The only thing I can cook and cook well is our Thanksgiving turkey. (Alton Brown has nothing to do with it. :upsidedow)

Hamburger Helper is my best friend. So is those complete meals. Sandwiches are my specialty. Not to mention, the bowl of cereal. :rotfl: We don't have a lot of variety around here (except when it comes to HH), so its spaghetti, hot dogs, baked chicken, etc every week.

Yeah, Rachel went on her first 48" ride in November (Primeval Whirl) and loved it!

I've seen Chopped a few times and love to see what they come up with. Except watching all the food shows makes me hungry!

I loved watching Worst Cooks -- that would have been too funny if you got picked! Maybe you can try out next time?

Joining your PTR, I'm only on pg 3 but I wanted to let you know I'm here :-)

I think that is so funny- only because i identify. after you get your job, you should try out! I hope that you get on Robert's team... something about Anne bugs me, although i can't place what it is.

i can't cook a turkey. i'll put that blame on my parents. when i was a kid, they subscribed to the meat isn't done until its overdone club. while i love beef products on the rare side, i have a problem with white meats. i always think that they aren't done and i better book them longer. they always look pink to me even when they aren't.

i am also guilty of the complete meals- we have some frozen pasta or beef stew bag meal weekly. along with tacos or spaghetti. we also do chicken wraps or chicken entree salads weekly. with dressing you can't tell i've overcooked it :thumbsup2. we do cereal for breakfast, and few times a month i do breakfast for dinner- ususally omelets. if i do make anything from scratch, its something i've made a million times before and is hard to screw up- like beef and broccoli.

chris has asked if i want to take cooking classes but i don't really want to.

that's so awesome that Rachel can ride anything now! Is there anything she is still fearful of?

you are right- watching the food network can be hazardous to your health! its like going to the grocery store hungry.

I'd love to audition, but I think I'd panic in the interview. :lmao: I'd get star struck, especially if they had any FN stars there. And yes, I'm Team Robert. When Robert isn't around, I'd root for Anne, but totally Team Robert. I told mom that he can be my new step-dad. :lmao:

For years, everyone has gathered at my place for Thanksgiving. And for years, I have attempted turkey. Every year, the turkey was edible, but dry. If you covered it in gravy and cranberry sauce, it was just fine! :thumbsup2

However, last year, I decided to try Alton Brown's Good Eats Roast Turkey. Try it. I am serious. I can't cook, and when everyone took a bite out of the turkey, they asked where I ordered it from. (They really thought I bought it cooked and just warmed it.) My BiL went back for fourths (and he usually only has one helping of turkey). I've always had turkey leftover to eat on for a week ... there was NONE left!!!!! NONE!! I seriously recommend trying it. I use the meat thermometer like he suggests, so you know its the right temperature (and don't have to keep checking it, it beeps when its done).

We actually had breakfast for dinner just now. Not to mention the other night at IHOP. :lmao:

I would love to take cooking classes. I think the only option is at UT (and not certain on that). But I'd prefer something more personal. I have no knife skills or anything (well, unless you count knicking yourself).

Anyway, yeah, I swear by Alton Brown's Good Eats Roast Turkey. (I even use something similar when I bake whole chickens. Mmmm!)

sounds like I really need to try that roast turkey. I've NEVER seen a turkey completely gone, no matter who cooked it. I think I'd shock everyone too if it turned out like yours!
I have no knife skills. I have to be honest, the knife intimidates me. I could never be on the show because they don't have enough time to wait on me to cut slowly with the smallest knife I can find :rotfl:

I went fancy for dinner tonight- salads and baked potato, both topped with chicken, cheese, and veggies.

If you try AB's Good Eats Roast Turkey (its the recipe name), please let me know! I'd love to hear how it turned out for you. We used to have sooo much turkey left over, we were throwing it out. I was very sad last year because I was looking forward to turkey sandwiches and there was absolutely none left (and the bird was the same size as it always has been within a lb or two) and we had less people show last year, too. :lmao:

He also has a good video that goes over some of the prepping for the turkey and he explains WHY he does things the way he does in a few instances. I'm sure the actual episode in its entirety is out there somewhere, too.

Dinner sounded good at your place! I'm supposed to put something in the crock pot today. We'll see how it goes. (And yes, I said something because I dunno what it is that DH bought. :lmao:)

I realized i haven't detailed departure day. well, that is because there really aren't any details to give.

We will get everything packed and get checked out. Hopefully, there will be enough time to get to a park for a couple hours.

Last time, we went to mk, rode about 3 rides, and then did a little shopping. If i can create a few extras hours in the day, i will do a little mini trip report of that day here on this PTR. I never finished that day on my last trip report for some reason.

The flight home will be nonstop, thankfully. We will get home around dinnertime, but just after rushhour. We will eat dinner and then everyone else will probably fall asleep on the couch :rotfl:

I've been collecting some clothing here and there over the past year or so when i found it on sale.

it isnt always easy for boys and girls to match- especially when the girl currently tries to only wear pink! so sometimes they will have a similar theme, sometimes not so much.

i covered arrival day a while back, but here is some of the rest....
forgive the random sizing- i had these images saved in random places, and a few i borrowed from google.

Wow! What cute clothes!!! I absolutely love the turtle outfit. Do you recall where you got it? DS would LOVE it!

Thanks! That turtle outfit is from Gymboree. It's from last summer though. I bought ahead on deep discount. I'm pretty sure it only came up to 5T. If you want to try to find it in your ds's I could give you some leads though.

We went grocery shopping today and Maya was pleasantly surprised when Count Chocula greeter us at the entrance. She walked right up and gave him a high five. James followed right up afterwards for his high five. Then Maya went to pose for a picture. Hames was funny because he got near him buy wouldn't put his arm around him or anything. He had a complete who the heck are you look on his face. Still, he was pretty brave about it, so I hope that carries over to WDW. Hopefully, I'll get some smiles from him for the characters he knows and loves!

James has also started to have a major fear of noise lately. He's been covering his ears for trains, planes, etc. I've got to add earplugs to my packing list. I know he will want them for the fireworks. Any rides I should remember to take them on?

Marshay was kind enough to share the refurb schedule on her ptr. Besides star tours, the liberty belle will also be closed.

Tp changed the park recomendations for our arrival day. Hopefully there won't be anything major for our trip days.

The girls (and boys under 5) on Chris's side visited today. Tomorrow we will have lunch at my parents with my side. What did you all do this weekend?

I'm glad to hear the kids had a good experience with the character at the store!

I honestly don't remember any loud rides ... the only time I recall DS or DD covering their ears was on the train and during the fireworks. And it was just DD who did that, DS was fine. Hopefully someone else can give you a good indication on any rides ... and if in doubt, you could always ask the CM at the entrance or keep them handy just in case.

Sounds like you've had a great weekend! We've just been lazy here.

I hope to have time later this afternoon to give a proper update now that the park hours and parade/show schedules have been amended for May.

In the meantime, i want you all to know that today I am

dancin' in my seat. In just three short weeks, we will be swimming, playing at the beach, exploring CBR, and getting ready to pig out at Ohana's!!!

Hi! Just finished reading and your trip plans sound great! I was shocked and horrified to read that your kindergarten starts so early. Poor little kids. Didn't elementary schools used to start at 9 or 9:30?

Carter and Landon have that same Pirates of the Caribbean shirt. I always think they look really cute in it. And the sea turtle outfit was what I wanted to get last year for Carter, and when I went to buy it they didn't have his size. I remember going to every Gymboree in town, but I never found it. Looking back, I wonder why I didn't just order it online. :confused3

Anyway, all the outfits look great! :thumbsup2
