Don’t you turn that commercial- it’s my 30 second Disney fix! TR Link Posted

Sorry to hear about Maya's pinkeye & your loooong experience at the Take Care Clinic. We only have 1 near us & everytime I call, they can't get us in so I just gave up on it a few illnesses ago! :confused3

I don't know if this information will help or not. I almost bought one of those leashes to take to Disney last year too, but I didn't end up buying it. I decided to take a chance & see how it would go. Luke loves his stroller & will ride in it...as long as he's in a good mood and ONLY with me. If you add another person into the equation, forget about it! He will NOT go into a stroller. He also thinks that his daddy is wrapped around his finger. So if I put him into the stroller & he wants out, he will just cry until his dad takes him out of it. And if he doesn't, then Luke will throw a fit & it gets embarassing so finally my husband gives in. Of course, Luke knows this routine so he does everything he can to get my husband to do what he wants him to!

Well, moving along to Disney -- the first trip, Luke was 10 months old. We rented a stroller each morning at the park. This was fine at the parks & we thought it was such a convenient service for them to offer to guests! You simply walk to the gate, go to the stroller rental station, and off you go with a stroller! Well, this was fine for the parks, but what about our DTD day or walking around the resort? It started becoming more of a pain than a good thing. So, last year in June, we decided to take our own stroller. It was wonderful at the airport. Luke sat in it & we pushed him around while waiting for our flight. He was well behaved & stayed in it. We used the stroller at the resort some days because CBR is so spread out. Most of the time, Luke was fine with walking. He never once asked either my husband or I to hold him or carry him. He would just walk beside us & he was really good about staying near us or holding our hand. This behavior is NOT Luke behavior either!!! Trust me, when we are at home, he runs away from us at the stores. He won't sit in the buggy most of the time. He does everything he can to make one of us carry him around the mall. I guess its overwhelming to the little ones on vacation & they want to feel secure. Maybe their stroller provides them with that little bit of security. I don't know what it was, but trust me, Luke stayed in the stroller the entire trip!

I hope this info helps you a little bit! :thumbsup2

Sounds similar here! I take my stroller everywhere! I love my umbrella stroller. It's lightweight, easy to fold, nice canopy, some recline. He rarely fusses in it and when he does it's just when he's been in it forever! He k ows I'm not taking him out of it! DH rarely uses one though. He carries him a lot or makes him hold his hand and he seems to stay pretty close to him. I on the other hand, never carry him further than from the car to the cart. He's just heavy! My neice weighs the same but it doesn't seem so heavy I gues because she's got it spread out with 5 more inches.
I'm hoping that James was so crazy because it was so out of the ordinary for me to let him loose. And that he won't try to push it with DH there too. I think the familiar stroller vs unfamiliar parks and crowds could work in our favor as well for the beginning. I'm just imagining him running off to see a character or something.
On one of my childhood trips, we were leaving the area at MK after watching a parade. My dad was speed walking through the crowd and he and my sister got seperated from my mom and little brother and I. I was scared we would never find my dad again. If onlythere had been cell phones back then! When we finally found each other my parents were GRUMPY the rest of the day. But I remember how scared I was and I can't imagine my kids getting seperated and not having a parent with then.

Last time we took our sit n stroll. It was a hassle on the bus at times but otherwise great. And I loved all the storage room underneath. I haven't had Maya in it lately to see how she fits but technically the 2 of them are 3 pounds over the limit. Still we might take that.
It's rated to 50lbs so technically Maya could fit in that one as well but she climbed in it the other day and looked absolutely silly. Yet I know she will need one at times. We are thinkning of taking both at this point :confused3

I think I was posting my room requests while you were last posting. Did I make a smart choice?

How exciting for only 45 more days!!! :thumbsup2

I think your building choice is great! I requested Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 and we ended up with the second floor, building 45. I liked being on the 2nd floor because little creatures running around or being in my bed in Florida really creeps me out!!! However it was a pain in the butt with the stroller! We would have to either make Luke walk down the stairs while we carried the stroller OR we'd carry the stroller down with Luke in it (yeah, not the best or safest option in the world but my husband is a big guy so it worked out!)

I enjoyed the walk to OPR because it was just across the bridge & past the pool. It's less than a 5 minute walk. We also would go down the stairs & right across the small parking lot to the bus stop. I really, really think it was the absolute perfect location!!! It actually has me really worried for our future trips because I'm afraid our location won't be up to par with what it was last year!

I'm honestly not sure about the cribs. I read somewhere that they did charge extra for them, but maybe that was old information? Maybe they are free now? We never used them so I'm not sure. I know the pack & plays are free. That would be really awesome if the cribs were free! I hope that is the correct info & that you are able to get one!!! :thumbsup2

Let us know when your Mickey mail arrives!!! I'm getting so excited for your trip now!!!

Oh no! I didn't even think about the bugs. Have you heard reports of them being bad? I am not fond of bugs either. If I find them inside I trap them under a bowl and make someone else take care of it. My coworkers laugh at me:rotfl: maybe I'll have to see if they have been bad right before our trip.

I know I saw that cribs have a charge too. They were included at SSR but I thought it was only free at deluxe/villas/DVC.

So the room location sounds okay? The map looked like there would be a little path between the courtyard for 45/44 and then right across the parking lot to the bus stop. I think we will hit OPR more than we did at SSR between swimming and a couple CS meals. Haven't decided on the mugs yet though.

Is it wierd that athough i feel that there is less to do here than other parks, but yet i'm afraid i'm going to run out of time here? Maybe because its only one day for us? Maybe because a lot of it is scheduled and therefore dictates extra time?

At any rate, i'm really wishing i had a little more time here. I think i'm going to really look over my schedule and see what i can figure out. Even enough time to do a show or two could help our full day.

Last trip, we went here for one day also. It was my mommy meltdown day:rotfl:

We did TSMM and RNRC. Then I had an almost 2 hour break from rides/ activities. First, i spent FOREVER searching down baby bottles after we lost the only one we brought. It was super hot, i'm pushing a double stroller with my belly and carrying a baby and mixing formula and those stupid "players" wanted to joke with me. I controlled my temper though. Then i spent forever waiting on everyone else to get done with the fun they were having. When we finally met back up, i wanted a minute for a break to cool off, use the restroom, etc. Everyone else felt they needed to get on the GMR or they wouldn't have enough time before our ADR. So then i spent more time waiting for them. Yes, i could have gone to do something by myself but i was so hot at this point i just didn't care. Luckily after the ADR i became human again!

Our lunch also took about 2 hours. And then we saw LMA and B&TB, and rode TOT and Star Tours.

So by then, the day was basically over. Granted we saw most everything on our list, but there is more on my list this trip.

Must Do's-
Toy Story
Animation (new)
Playhouse Disney show (new)
VOLM
TOT
Disney Channel Rocks (new, Maya screams when she sees the commercial)

Want to do-
B&TB
Indy (new to everyone but me- i saw it in 89)
Muppets (new)
RNRC

We have a lunch ADR at 50's primetime. We ate there last time with no complaints. I'm thinking it will be a slow process as it was last time, just because of how busy it stays.

We will probably have dinner at Pizza Planet?

I've decided i'm not going to go all out buying clothing that is only useful for the trip. My kids each have a handful of Disney tee shirts. I've been looking for a Pooh shirt for months and have not had any luck (new or used)

So i've changed my plan a bit- each child will get one special tee shirt/ top made. It will be something that they can wear on any given day, so it will not be personalized.

Pooh Bear was James' first love- he fell for him way before he was old enough to be manipulated into a Disney lover:rotfl: He also is a Tigger fan, but Pooh ranks #1.

So I've narrowed my choices down to these. Please help me pick! I'm not sure what color top it will go on- but it will not be a white top. He will wear this to Crystal Palace and then MK.

My kids need a hat- i know that the sun can get intense. And kids always need pjs. I'm proud to say i held today's Disney store order to only those items.

the pjs were just the regular price of 2 for $24- but i rationalized that by the fact that they were my "tangled" item needed to get free shipping. So even though i was spending more on pjs than normal i was saving money by getting them:rotfl2: At least i got ebates!

toystorepjs.jpg

rapunzelpjs.jpg

the hats were on sale for 7.99. I didn't get them personalized because i'm just not crazy about them wearing their name in normal daily life and i'd like these to have more purpose than just vacation. Plus James has a massive head and i'm not 100% sure if will fit.:rotfl: (Both my kids wear appx a kids size 7-8 hat)

last week i ordered myself some knit tanks to wear under my tops. i always wear some sort of cami or tank and i like the solid knit ones best for hot days.

I also ordered a pair of knit gaucho like pants. they may look like pajamas but what can i say :confused3, i think comfort is key for active hot days

i need to get a couple new pair of Teva Mush. well, at least one. i have one from last summer that is basically new. my others are all well loved. I wore these every day of my last trip and wear them almost every (warm) day at home.

and i also ordered a new body glide. are you guys familiar with this? i think its supurb:love: i use it to keep from chafing between my thighs and i also use it on my feet to keep from getting blisters.

bodyglide.jpg

i'm now on the hunt for a great "cooling" product. I planned on bringing some old washclothes to freeze and place on our necks as needed. But that would require takinga small cooler and i'm not sure i want to add another bag. So i want a misting fan or something along that line.

i was looking at the mistymate misting fan until i read this review-
HERE IS SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT: Do not unscrew the cap to empty or refill the water if there is any amount of water or any amount of pressure indicated on the gauge. The release of this pressure can cause a loud explosion. That happened to me once. Thankfully I had each portion secure in each hand (and I suppose the pressure inside was minimal) but it certainly seems like a dangerous scenario that could easily cause serious injury. Follow all instructions.

following directions is a joke when you have my 5 and 2 year old using the product. so i think the pressurized one is now out of the running. any favorite items for this purpose?

Notice the Orlando dates and location... SCORE:thumbsup2

James would get a big kick out of this! i hope it works out that they are there while we are on Sunday!

Stopping by to say hello!! Will go back and read and comment.

I really hope we see each other at DHS. Since I have a 2yo girl and nearly 6 yo girl we have kids basically the same ages!! It would be great to do Disney Junior together!!:thumbsup2

That would be fun! I'm sure my dd would love it! Stranger is not found in her vocabulary lol!
Other that tsmm first, I have no clue yet what order to approach this park. I feel the show schedules really dictate this one. Do you have an order planned?

The reason I asked about your favorite on the Pooh's was because no one agreed with me at my house. I like the same one as you all did; however, both kids AND my hubby like the standing pooh best.

So after seeing that all of you agreed with my favorite, i decided to play around a bit and put it all together on Polyvore.
(what a fun site! have any of you played on there?)

Anyway, I was shocked when I changed my mind. I still love Pooh A. And I am determined to find a project for him. But standing Pooh just fits the tee better without making the shirt half appliqued, half plain tee.

(sorry this is so small- they keep changing the site up and i can't figure out how to copy the full size pics now.)

I can't wait to get it!

Last trip, we saved the majority of our snack credits for food and wine- YUM!!

so this trip, most anything we snack on will be new! i imagine we will try a dole whip, just to see what it is all about.
i'm really looking forward to hitting Main Street Bakery for a cinnamon roll!

I have made an excel form for my dining plan credits. Its all fancy in the fact that it calculates what is left for me. I'm not sure why i bothered to set it up like that though? i'm not taking a laptop or anything.

James eats as much as Maya, and with him not getting his share of dining credits, we could have a lot left out of pocket. Obviously this wont matter at buffets, and possibly not at other sit downs depending on if they feel generous enough to offer pasta or whatever as they did when we last went. But that still leaves counter service.

So one of our solutions is to use snack credits where possible for filling, food items to suppliment. I searched through the snack thread and had very little luck finding much of anything that was a food and not a sweet or beverage. I found Chicken Fried Rice at Yak & Yeti AK. I also found breadsticks at Pinocchios Village Haus (although i'm not 100% at this one) .

Anyone have any favorites or suggestions for a good food use of snack credits?

At any rate, it made me aware of just how many meals we will still have come out of pocket.

I didn't get much Disney done this weekend. It was too beautiful to be inside.

I had plans to get together with my bestie and her kids. Unfortunately, James ended up with Pink Eye so we cancelled that. Instead, i got up really early and met my friend KIDS FREE at Starbucks for a couple hours. I really needed that! Later we had dinner at my parents.

My nephew and my cousin's child both got baptised at the same church on Sunday, then we had a luncheon for the sweet babies. I was going to take James to my parents while we went to church but i didn't have to because Chris ended up coming hom eearly with pink eye too. So he and James went to the take care clinic while Maya and I went to the baptism.

We were all dying go to the park but decided it wasn't the best thing with the pink eye so instead we went on a really long walk. I made Maya wear a new pair of Teva Mush to break them in a bit for vacation:goodvibes

Yesterday we had crazy weather. You know something crazy is coming when the birds are flying backwards, right? The weather men are calling it straight line winds. I *think* the reason it didn't qualify as a tornado was because i believe the highest wind recorded was 67 mph (F1 starts at 71 i think). At any rate, the storm did a good bit of damage- mostly in the form of massive trees falling on homes and cars. My house was fine, but there are a couple dozen homes in my neighborhood with damage. Luckily there was only one report storm related injury that i am aware of! We also had a 40 something degree temperature swing yesterday so i had to pull some winter stuff back out for the kids.

I did do a tiny bit of disney research- in the form of reading up a bit on ridemax. i have not decided if i want to be that structured or not?

so what did you do this weekend?

I'm still here and enjoying! popcorn::

I'm glad that your family and property was undamaged from the storm. Sounds awful and scary to be in.

I hope James is feeling better. Pink Eye is no fun at all. :(

Glad you got to enjoy a couple of kid free hours! What was it like?????

I checked out Ridemax last year, and it just wasn't for me. It was too structured and didn't feel forgiving in case something happened. I wanted more flexibility - so just an understanding of "best times to visit X attraction" was more for us - that way, we weren't carrying around a paper all day saying, "I know there's no wait for X attraction, but it says to run all the way across the park and ride Y." And, "You'll have to hold it, we can't pee for another 23 minutes." :lmao: (Okay, so its really not THAT structured, but I'm a free spirit and like options. lol)

Plus, the kids can be too spontaneous. If you try it out, I'd love to hear how it worked (or didn't) for you!!! I know some people swear by it, but everyone is different. So keep us posted on Ridemax!

As far as this weekend, I scrubbed out DS's room - he now has much less toys and clothes, and its more organized. I feel very accomplished. DD's room is next on the agenda. :thumbsup2

yeah! although i am pretty good at talking to myself:rolleyes1

I HATE storms anyway. i will schedule driving around storms. i will take non interstate routes if it is about to storm and i can't skip driving. this one was scary.

I hope James is feeling better. Pink Eye is no fun at all. :(

He is, and i think Chris was secretly glad to catch it. The 4 of us having a day off together is a rare thing!

I know what you mean with that comment! i don't know the last time that happened- unless you count the trips to school to pick them up:rotfl:

My best friend has 4 kids. Maya is in between her 2 girls, and James is in between her 2 boys. They moved away 4 years ago and we had not seen them since last 4th of July when they came to visit. Her dh's father died last year, and when he did, they decided they would move home when he was done with his current enlistment. That was supposed to be last October. we decided not to go visit them in Cali last year because they were coming home soon. Well, it got pushed to December, and then to March. They finally got home and my kids have had pink eye for the last 2 weeks! So she and i finally decided we couldn't take it anymore! Let me tell you, it was magnificant and the time went slowly too!

Last trip, i had made basic touring plans. I had taken the plans from TP's website and chopped htem up to fit us. It ended up being so slow that we didn't need them for the most part. we didn't use them at all. But i think the crowds will be so different this time.

however, i know my kids will want to spend 5 thousand hours meeting characters, etc.

i'm really contemplating doing something like a ridemax morning and a free afternoon. i don't know:confused3

yeah for spring cleaning!! i really need to get on that next. i'm so sick of the clutter. its especially bad now because we have out two seasons. i have a "bin" system where current season is in the closet, the past season goes in the bottom of my closet to prep for consignment, and the next season goes in the bottom of their closets. (I pick some items up on clearance for the next year) well, i have new and future new coming in and nothing going out and its making me batty!!

see responses above.

yeah! although i am pretty good at talking to myself

I technically did this last night. :lmao: (I mentioned we're geeks, right?) I was playing one of our video games and clicked off my original target and targeted myself accidentally and used one of my macros, so it sent the message to myself instead of the person I meant to have targeted. :rotfl2: I almost replied ... but I know DH would never let me live it down.

I HATE storms anyway. i will schedule driving around storms. i will take non interstate routes if it is about to storm and i can't skip driving. this one was scary.

I feel ya. I want to pack up the winter clothes and bring out the summer ... but just can't do it! So we have winter and summer clothes out and the closets/drawers are filled to the brim! :scared1: Today I've been going through my room - trying to clear up clutter and get rid of clothes I won't really wear anymore.

Hey, Lauren, I'm finally all caught up!

So going to go back a bit here in my responses:

1. I love that you wanted to be a street sweeper!! How funny.

2. My Rachel (July will be 6) also had some speech issues. We did one year of speech therapy and it helped so much, they graduated her!

3. How cool that Chris was already saving up $$ for Vacation.

4. 5/16 we'll be at DHS...but we are only arriving for the new Pixar Parade, then trying to do Disney Junior/Little Mermaid and Bug's playground. Then we'll eat dinner (we never did Pizza Planet so maybe we'll try that and see you there.) and then stay for EMH Dance Party.

5. I waited 2 year and 4 months before getting Rachel's (DD5) first haircut at MK!:thumbsup2

6. Ohhhh, reading what you wrote about maya and not believing in the characters anymore ... :scared1: You are right ... that is probably right around the corner in the next year or so (hopefully longer). I like knowing that she still believes in all of that.

7. Did you DH hear anymore on the chef job? (I didn't see any other posts on it but maybe I skipped it).

8. Pins -- DD5 wants to do pin trading too. I followed that thread as well and was going to purchase some but then DD5 said she wanted to do vinylmation. I told her to wait on pins and do V now instead. I figure she can still pretend and play with the V.

9. Thanks for the info on the Cars. We may try to go to DTD on May 14 or 15 now to check it out.

And your kids look really adorable! It would be cool for Maya and Rachel to meet -- who knows?:goodvibes

I'm very curious how the Mickey and Princess fastpasses will work. I haven't read much on them since the soft opening. Are they connected to the rest of the fastpasses?

I'm not real sure on this. There's a thread here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2692208

It has been trying to discuss how it works, but still not a whole lot of information. It seems that the FPs are connected, but the windows are shorter on Mickey than ride FPs (like you can get another FP within an hour or your return window - whichever is first vs rides having a 2 hr wait or return window - whichever is first). I've been watching this thread, hoping that some good insight will make way. Robo has been active on it trying to research and debunk everything. :thumbsup2
