Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

The military movie theme is one where it works sometimes and other times it doesn't. I mean this also outside of the holiday line up.

Sometimes they seem to just throw the military theme out there but either just do it so the lead is in a uniform or they don't really do much actual integration of the military aspect so then it's just the theme for the theme trying to grab people's attention.

My absolute fav is The Lost Valentine (2011), a tearjerker but just so good.

I also enjoyed A Soldier's Love Story (also called Meet My Mom, from 2010)

A much older film of A Christmas Visitor (2002)

Operation Christmas (2016)
. One of Marc Blucus's other military films was Holiday for Heroes (2019) which I didn't like quite as much as Operation Christmas.

Home for Christmas Day (2017)
is another one that I really like

USS Christmas(2020) was pretty good too

Not strictly military but has that as part of the character is Journey to Christmas (Candance Cameron Bure plays a WWII-era nurse, from 2022)

With exception to Holiday for Heroes (which I rated a 7) all of the above were either an 8 or a 9 rating to me based on a 1-10 (10 being the best) scale.

I must admit I didn't quite connect with Bringing Christmas Home that was mentioned, I only rated that a 6.

Operation Christmas is one of my favorite movies. Marc Blucas & Tricia Helfer make such a great team together. They've acted together in quite a few projects over the decades. It's clear they are really comfortable working with each other.

Holiday for Heroes didn't quite jell for me. The story created an awkwardness because she never got the letter telling her he was on his way to visit her. Plus the actress, herself, seemed to be kind of remote.

Agreed, looking it up the main actress in Holiday for Heroes has mostly done two soap operas (All My Children and The Young and the Restless both of which she has done countless episodes) with other random stuff as well. Maybe it didn't work out for her like it has for Alison Sweeny to make the good transition from that type of acting.

The Lifetime website has started showing their older Christmas movies. 🎄 :santa: 🥰

You can stream them for FREE at:

https://play.mylifetime.com/movies

If a popup shows up asking you if you are a subscriber to LMN, their movie channel, just click dismiss. That is to access extra content. It's not a requirement to watch the Lifetime Christmas movies. popcorn::

Then scroll down a couple sections to "All Movies" to see ALL the listings. There is a tab somewhere to only see the listings for the holiday movies, but it actually isn't ALL the holiday movies and that page was weird to navigate. So, it's better to sift through all stalking neighbor movies too, to find your old favorite Lifetime movies.

I think this movie just might be the one to beat this Christmas! And I'm only halfway through it, so far..... :santa:

Description: Weatherman Ted Cooper loves Christmas, but the past three have been terrible. This year, Ted has made up his mind that things will be different – this will be the Christmas things turn around for him. But Ted’s relentless optimism is about to be put to the test as he is faced with a litany of injuries and obstacles when he travels back to his hometown of Lackawanna, NY for the holidays. He also reconnects with the charming Hope Miller, except now she’s Dr. Hope Miller, with whom he went to high school and quietly crushed on from afar. He has support to help him overcome the challenges thrown his way and finally enjoy a well-earned merry Christmas.

Thanks for the recommendation @CGB for Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper.

I watched it last night. It's my first new Christmas movie of the season. It was a great for the new season. I really liked the movie too. Add me as one recommending it. :thumbsup2

Robert Buckley co-wrote the movie. :surfweb: He wrote in an escape room scene. He was in a previous movie with Alexandra Breckenridge, both playing QVC-type shopping channel hosts, who also went into an escape room. I wonder if he has a thing for them? :scratchin

I thought he and Kimberley Sustad had great chemistry together.
