DH and I are taking my DH's family to WDW this October for a family reunion/celebration of our sixth wedding anniversary, and since they were only there once (~1980), we would LOVE for them to see that magical MK opening that they have now with the dancers, characters on the train and confetti...does anyone know if they do this at 9am (official opening time) on Sundays and Thursdays when Extra Magic Hour is offered to resort guests??

Thanks in advance...this will help with our plans!

Well, I don't really know what the "official" procedure is SUPPOSED to be- but I can tell you that when we stayed off-site on our first trip (with family) and we got there 30 min before opening (but not early entry because we were staying offsite- I didn't even know about that benefit of staying onsite when we went on the spur of the moment and hadn't found this board yet either LOL) and I never saw all that hoopla when we entered. On my solo trip I stayed onsite and went to the early entry and DID see all that- right when I came in.
So I'm not really sure- all I can say is in MY personal experience is that they did it when they let everyone in for early entry!

Ps.I didn't see any confetti- they just had a ton of characters out at the front round area (whatever that is called- the place where they put the big huge Christmas tree when it's Christmas time) and then had that car with characters drive down main street. I didn't see dancers and confetti. I wonder if they just don't do that anymore?

I just got back three weeks ago, and we watched it then...but it wasn't EE that day either. Shucks! Anyone else know??

Thanks again...IVY:p

I'd like to know about this , too, so I'm bumping this up.

Here's another bump...I'm wondering about this, too, although I'd guess that the opening festivities would be held at official opening time, regardless of whether it's an EE day or not.Otherwise, they'd have to a) have 2 on EE days, or b)not have one at the 9:00 official opening time .Neither of those options seem likely to me.Anybody know first hand?

My post was experienced first hand. Not sure if you noticed that or not. LOL
