Does anything happen at MK opening?

We're leaving tomorrow and staying at the Poly so we'll be close to MK. Does anything happen at MK opening? I've heard about waking up Tinkerbell, but it's just DH and I so that doesn't interest us (although I'd love to do that when we hav kids). Anything else besides that? Thanks!

We arrived at MK opening befor they were open,, they also open before poster time up to 20 miutes,, but Mickey and the rest of the gang arrive on the steam train early, to open the park ( about 5-7 minutes ( ie 8:45-50 for 900 opening,, POR & AKL 11/28-12/6

They will open the turnstiles about 15-20 minutes early (about 8:40) and allow you in to the front area (in front of the train station)... The entrance into the park (through the tunnels of the train station will be blocked off). About 8:50, the Mayor (or one of the "Citizens" of main street) will come out onto the train station platform to officially welcome you to the park. Then there will be dancers and the steam train will come in loaded with characters. Mickey will join the mayor and do an official park opening complete with countdown... and then the ropes will be dropped and the park will be opened. It is really a nice show for all ages. They perform this every morning, except Sunday and Thursday...which are the early opening for resort guests.

I have never seen this as we always seem to arrive about 15-30 minutes after opening. I'm going to definetly have to add it to my list of "must-do's" for the next trip. We've done the "awakening" at AK and thought that was really nice.

We were there in mid-November this year on Nov.14th, but they didn't do the "train" opening like when I was there in May. I'm thinking it was because it was EE day. I don't know if they did it instead at the "regular" opening time?

There is no opening show on EE mornings...
