Does anyone else dislike Space Mountain? isnt it just overrated.

I like SM at WDW even though it's bumpy--and prefer WDW SM to the one in DL--the one in DL makes me sick--you go around in a large spiral downward for about 10 loops and that's the end of me--I thought it would never stop!

I quit riding it a few yrs ago.
We rode SM in Disneyland the first time this past fall.
I was so surprised at how different and better it is at Disneyland.
I like it way more then SM at WDW.
The track is totally different and a smoother ride then the Magic Kingdom version at WDW.
The cars are different too.

.....soooooo, is this post BEFORE 'said grisly death', or after? popcorn::
After....I was lucky and my glasses didn't fall off. The next year, when my nephew was 7 I zipped my glasses and his glasses in his fanny pack....doing my part to keep us all safe. o_Oo_O

I wouldn't say I dislike it. I ride it once, and only one, each trip. I do find it rough at points and could see why it h's its detractors. Overrated, that is really a personal opinion. I could see calling it that.

As someone who has conquered many of my thrill-ride fears this past trip (ToT, RnRC and EE specifically) Space Mountain is the one major coaster in Disney I refuse to do. I herniated a disc a couple of years ago and while I'm relatively young (29) every so often it ends up bothering me if I've been standing for long periods or doing continuous physical activity. Based on what I've heard, read and personal experience from my wife (who didn't like it herself) I'm quite comfortable never experiencing it and risk re-aggravating it for the day or longer. The next time I'm in Disneyland I'll definitely give SM a try there, but as for Disneyworld? Anything short of a complete refurb will keep me on the sidelines.

Well, it's not like you can see anything in the dark anyway...

WDW's Space Mountain is such a disappointment. It's painful and the restraints aren't the most considerate...for men... ouch.

Space in the MK is in desperate need of a refresh like they did in Disneyland. I ride Space over and over in Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland but it's a one and done in the MK.

.......sooooooo....you're posting from 'the grave' now, are we........

I love it, but the DL version is MUCH better, even without the current Hyperspace mountain overlay (which is amazing).

I love Space, and still enjoyed it some what after seeing the amazing job they did on DL's. But after Hyperspace Mountain, I don't think I can ride the WDW version again without being disappointed, lol

I remember when all coasters were "jerky". It was part of the thrill. Now we have the smooth coasters and they offer an alternative. I like both types, and love SM. Aside from ToT, it is the only ride at WDW that comes close to a "thrill" ride.

....:scratchin....what about R'n'RC? :confused3

I love it! Except, even as an adult & even if there is a much taller person in front of me, I still shrug to keep my head as low as possible because I always have the irrational fear that it is going to get knocked off!

I done every coaster I could in florida on our trip last year, all Disney, universal, seaward and bushe and sm was the only one I found unpleasant. Much too jerky for me.

I personally think the ride should remain the way it is, the roughness and darkness is the thing about the ride that separates it from every other amusement park roller coaster.

Many people want the WDW version changed, but the only thing I could see them doing is making it Guardians of the Galaxy themed. That wouldn't make me too happy lol.

I LOVE the one in Anaheim and could ride it all day, but the MK version is miserably rough and jerky. We ride it maybe once every three or four trips.

Interesting thought on this discussion - I used to be a member of a forum run by a site that we'll just call TPR and a dude that we'll just call Rob. Apparently you're not allowed to disagree with Rob or say anything negative about a ride that Rob likes. After my bad experience with SM last year I mentioned on that forum that it was a rough ride and probably needed an update or something. Dude banned me.. for that! Sees as though I was right and Rob was wrong though. How bout them space apples!?
