We are going to the spa at Saratoga Springs and it will be our first time. Could you tell me if you tip each of the massage therapists and how much? We are going to have the Couples Relaxation Package:love: , which is 2 hours of massages. Thanks so much:thumbsup2

Yes
I usually tip 20%
One place I go to adds it in for you (they say something like 20% is customary would you like us to add that to your bill?)

You should definitely tip your massage therapist. Also, I'd refrain from calling them "masseurs." It was at one time the correct term, but many areas have now banned massage therapists from using it as it undermines the legitimacy of massage therapy as a healthy and health-related practice. Too many red light districts using the term, KWIM?

20% is standard, more if you're super impressed. But as the pp said, they may outright ask you when you're being rung up at the front desk. Also, be sure that the grat's not included. As much as your MT might like a double-tip, it's probably not your intent! :lmao:

Enjoy your spa trip!

For me, how much depends on the quality of the massage, just like the quality of the service in a restaurant. I would always tip at least $10, but have gone as high as $25-$30. I have a friend who is a massage therapist, in business for herself, not at a spa. She reports that about half her clients tip, and it is anywhere from $10-$50 depending on length of massage and any additional services ie deep tissue, hot stone, salt scrub etc. the percentage who tip might be higher at a spa. If I get a therapist who doesn't do what I ask (problem areas, deeper pressure etc), the tip is going to be the minimum, if the massage is extraordinary, so is the tip.

I always tip 20%, minimum $20.

Out of all the services that I tip, I think this service deserves a good tip because I feel it is taking a physical toll on the person providing the service. In fact, I recently spoke with a massage therapist who said they can only do the job about 10 years due to the physical toll.

i tipped $30 on a $185 massage...i don't know what that equals to but I think more than that would have been excessive. And I am a GOOD tipper.
I would tip individually...prolly $20

I do tip, but it is based on the quality of the massage. I only usually tip 10%, but I am kind of cheep! ;)
