Do you miss it

I like both. I use the kindle for my everyday reading but prefer travel guides, cookbooks and specialised literature to be real books.

Music though.... even though I used to love pouring over the lyrics printed on the sleeve of a record album, I am in LOVE with being able to carry 3,000 songs in my purse.

I have the Kindle app on my iPad, but I only use it when I'm waiting for a kid at practice or something like that. If I'm going to sit down and read to relax, I grab a book.

Thanks for the replies I have virtually two book serious in my iPad and now my bag is so light well if you subject the soda and water I bring to work

I have an ipad, but I don't use it for ebooks. Love real books.

I don't enjoy reading long volumes of text on computer screens. On electronic devices, I like reading text in small bits and pieces (like on a message board or Facebook, most text are short sentences). When trying to read long pages of text like from an ebook, I lose my place often and after awhile my eyes start bothering me.

I also have a hard time with ebooks having no "identity" - it's just text on a screen. A real book exists and you can hold it and see it, which makes a big difference to me for some reason. Also with ebooks, I have downloaded a couple from my library, then never read them since I forgot I had them. :confused3 A real book sits by my bed, so I remember it's there. I also have reservations about paying for ebooks - I am always skeptical that it will really be there for all eternity for me in digital form. I rather have a real book.

I also read a lot of more obscure older non-fiction, which is not available as an ebook and probably never will. So real books for me.

My aunt said the same thing that it can be taken off your device at any time I just hope I get to read it first

I love my books.
My wife loves her Kindle.
My kids love their Nooks.

Just because you use one, doesn't mean you have to give up the other. I just finished a book on my Kindle yesterday, and today I started reading a physical book.

I don't miss them, because I make sure to still read them occassionally, even though I read Kindle books as well.

True

I have a Kindle and just can't get into it. I'm a bit of a Luddite....I have a phone that makes and receives calls and that's it, a car with windows that you have to crank up and down, and a house with - gasp - formica counters. I will never give up my books. No gadget will ever replace the feel of a book in my hand. As long as there is a library left in my town, I will be there every week.

I don't miss books at all. In fact, if the book I want to read is not in Kindle format, I'll just read something else. I read through the Kindle app on my iPad and sometimes iPhone. The past 6 months all my magazines are in E-format. I subscribe to 4 different magazines on my iPad. I love it so much better than a real magazine.

I really like my Kindle a lot. I spend a lot of time in waiting rooms (dr/dentist), and it is so much easier to carry in my purse.

However, I haven't bought books in several years, using instead the public library. Our library really doesn't have much of a selection for Kindle, and when they do get a best-seller or a book by one of my favorite authors, there is usually a long wait time for it; so I end up checking out the regualr hard copy. I usually go thru the best seller list and put holds on whatever appeals to me, both for Kindle and book form. I always get the actual book before it becomes available on Kindle.

Nope! Love my kindle. I find I read more now than before because I have instant access to books. The only thing I miss is if I'm reading a book with a lot of characters or confusing plot, it's harder to "flip" back to a certain spot to re-read something or flip back to try to find something.

I love my Nook Color, but I mainly use it for surfing the new in bed. I still buy regular books. I usually get them used, so they are cheaper that a lot of ebooks.

But what if it is part of a series?

I love love love my Kindle. I love the easy access to books because our library is not convenient for me. I love the easy storage because I'm not searching for places to put new books. I like being able to ask for Kindle giftcards for Christmas and my birthday.

However, I still have SHELVES of honest to goodness books, and if I read something on my Kindle that I have to have, I see if I can find it at the resell book place.

Feel free to laugh but the closet library to me is a 3 hour bus ride round trip so I know what you mean about the library not being covenant to get to

NO but then I don't own a e eader of any kind just my plain old desktop computer.

I have to admit I have been thinkin about gettin an IPad or Kindle Fire....I have been laid up all this year with my back an waiting for major back surgery. The weight of a book while layin in bed readin is a bit much right now, I think I might like to upgrade my reading style....being able to change the size of the text would be very helpful also.

Although I need other things more than I need a reading device.....like a handicapped toliet so we will see.....
