Do you miss it

I told myself I would NEVER go to a Kindle because I loved the "feel" of real books.

I've had a Kindle about a year. I am now a convert. I love it.

But I do keep a collection of books at home-- all of them are signed by the author.

This! However, non signed by author. ;)

I love my Kindle because I can take a bunch of books with me on vacation. But I enjoy the feel of a real book.

I love to read! I love the feel of a new book, and love beautiful cover art!
I also love the convenience of the kindle app on my phone! I don't have to wait for a book to come in! And best of all, I love how the ebook has really helped the independent authors out there! Some of my favorite series are ebooks only, and I got reeled in by the free or .99 cent for the first book. A lot of independent authors have their books online for 2.99 or 3.99 each. Much better than paying for a hardback!!

Don't get me wrong though, there are some absolute rubbish indie authors as well!! And sometimes those free books...well, you get what you paid for.

I don't miss it, because I do both. I like the Kindle app, which I use on my ipad mini. My mother and I share the account and we read a lot of the same books, so it is nice to be able to share stuff that way. Our public library has a pretty good selection of Kindle books, and I can also read and listen using the Overdrive app. Another nice thing; I like to knit, and can knit and read at the same time when using the Kindle app.

That said, I still occasionally read print books. If the library only has a hard copy, that is fine. Or like now, when I am about to out on our dock (I'm at the lake cabin), don't want to worry about electronics falling in the water, LOL.

I've never understood why some feel it has to be only one or the other? I use & want both options. I love to read and my DH used to get so upset with the weight of books I would bring on vacation. So, I take my Kindle on vacation, trips, on the subway, etc and still buy my beloved books to read at home and for my collection.

I'd say I buy an equal amount of physical and ebooks. Just because I have an e reader doesn't mean I gave up on physical books at all.

One of my favorite quotes:

"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent" Stephen King

I was thinking that but for people like me with vision problems I can now read books for people my age because I can make the print bigger, I can read what I want judgment free

Now that is something I never thought of!! My oldest sister has poor vision (even had cornea transplants) & she uses a magnifying glass to read by. Thanks for that insight.

Kindle for the win. I have had one for about 4 years and have read over 300 books - the vast majority (80%) in electronic format. Why? I do most of reading at kids activities and in bed.
Portability of my Kindle library is superior out of the house. I usually am reading 2-3 books at a time and chose depending on my mood. I have several half read books laying around on my Kindle. So if I feel like romance while at the dentist or philosophy at pool - I have it all. I use a Kindle 2 at the pool in zip lock bag and don't have to worry about glare or a soggy book.
My ipad app rules the bedroom. I don't have to have a bright light on to read. I don't have to contort my hands or myself to prop open a heavy book like a Ken Follet or Stephen King book who rarely write anything less than 1,000 pages. I can turn on my iPad, prop it up and read on my side happily swiping pages as I go virtually hands free.
I do occasionally read a 'dead-tree' book - too costly on Kindle, library book, etc.- but almost always wish I had the digital version instead.
My tech savvy ten year old son, however, dislikes reading on the Kindle. He prefers a real book. Go figure.
