I totally agree!!! And, Happy Birthday!!!Happy birthday, Dee!Thank you so much for this wonderful thread. It's made me so much more excited for our first BC stay than I otherwise would have been! This is most definitely the best thread on the DIS thanks to your hard work and welcoming demeanor!
Wow!!!
Thank you for all the great birthday wishes. Halloween is a great day for a birthday because there is lots of chocolate, you can always find a party and everyone remembers it.
Well, almost everyone.
Because I love you all, and because I can't share this on Facebook, I'll tell you all my favorite birthday story.
We aren't huge birthday celebrators in our family- we don't always exchange gifts and we never give each other cards, but a "Happy Birthday" is always nice to hear.
About 10 years ago, Mark headed off to work without acknowledging my birthday. Ok, it's 5 am and we are both tired, I can understand forgetting to say something.
But the day goes on and I don't hear anything from him. No phone call. No email. Not a word.
I mention this to a friend of mine and she is horrified! Tara worked at a Florist shop at the time and she sent me a "boo-quet" of Halloween flowers.
Mark came home early that night so he could take the boys out for Trick-or-Treat.
When he walked in the door, he saw my gift, nodded his head towards the flowers and said.
What's that?
Flowers from Tara.
What for?
My birthday. It falls on Halloween this year.
Oh.
He hasn't forgotten my birthday since.

We are currently accepting air reservations through May 8, 2017. On December 6, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through June 2, 2017. This date is subject to change!
For those here who fly Southwest, and I know there are quite a few, the schedule was just extended this morning.

Thank you for your response. I was assuming we wouldn't have a problem getting back in but wanted to hear it from others. We currently have an 8pm dinner reservation for San Angel Inn but after reading some other threads I'm a little concerned we may have trouble getting from IG to Mexico. I was thinking about dinner at Cape May post resort break to avoid this but still not sure.

It is 5 minutes from YC lobby to BC lobby going by the inside/covered path.
I timed the outside route, lakeside from lobby-ish to lobby-ish: 3 minutes.
Does anyone know if there is a path at the front (parking lot) side of the buildings where you can walk between the two resorts? I have never tried this.

Yes, we have walked from the BC bus stop to the YC bus stop on the parking lot side. Just follow the sidewalk. It takes you in front of the convention center.
I was wondering the same thing. I leave June 6th and was ready to start thinking airfare but at this rate it wont open till jan 2017. Thats less than 5 months to plan! What I don't understand is why the booking window was only extended by less that two weeksIt had been April 24th and now it is only to May 5th
Why so short

We did NYE at Epcot once before, years ago. We swore we would never go back. Literally wall-to-wall people. No personal space at all. Strollers to the back of your knees, people bumping up against you non-stop. Crazy, crazy crowded. New York City subway at peak rush hour crowded. Fun, but wow, the crowds were intense.
Fast forward a decade or so. We're booked to go back. Long story as to why we planned this, but the short version is that my DH agrees that no one should have to look after their aging, high-maintenance FIL on their 20th wedding anniversary trip. So, Disney it is, 'cause FIL has zero interest in going there.
However, we've planned better (I hope) this time. Staying at BCV to be able to avoid transportation that night. Leisurely day planned, maybe Disney Springs (have a rental car) for some shopping, and got a Landry's card to ensure access to either T-Rex or Rainforest if the crowds are nuts at the quick service places. FPs for late afternoon in Epcot...Soarin, Living with the Land and Living Seas to minimize walking through the crowds. Late dinner (9:30pm) ADR at the NYE buffet at the World Showplace, which is between Canada and the UK so again shouldn't be too bad getting there. No plans to go any further from the IG than Living Seas. Will hopefully find a spot to park with some beverages in the UK after dinner, then back out the IG after the fireworks.
Would I prefer dinner at Biergarten or one of my other favs around the World Showcase? Absolutely. But I'm too scared to commit to walking that far through the crowds.
If you're going from the IG to Mexico, I'd allow an hour (at least) for the walk. If the crowds aren't as bad as I fear, then grab a margarita and people watch while you wait for your ADR time. But my guess is that you'll need the hour.
