Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I'm very excited, I was planning a long weekend in January and originally booked Coronado. Just today I decided to upgrade to the Yacht Club. I have a garden view room from 1/25-1/29. I've stayed here once before in 2015 and loved it. I really can't wait to come back.

Woo-hoo! That was fun! Can't wait to show my boys.

Just got home today after staying 6 nights at BC.
We had booked standard view and the first request (both TP fax and online checkin) was for a large balcony.

We got room 2654, right up the stairs from the lobby, above the bell services/outside valet.
This room has no balcony :( and is shaped longer, so I believe its a larger room than normal. We had a full couch and a chair (but no balcony....sigh) it does have a king bed however.

Unfortunately, this room is bad if you are a light sleeper or need an afternoon rest or want to sleep in. You hear lots of activity down in the lobby -- one time it was 2-3am when there was a constant sweeping noise and vibration. I opened my room door to see about 3 maintenance staff on a lift near my 2nd floor room doing some work and talking loudly :( Also, the A/C unit in the room vibrates loudly every 2-3 minutes. We are not complainers, so we didn't say anything, but I thought i'd report it here in case someone else unfortunately gets assigned this room.

Other than that, everything else at BC is wonderful - great services in the restaurants, marketplace and desk/bell staff were friendly each time :)

Sorry for your less-than-magical experience. Like you, I'm not a complainer, but if I were woken up by lobby noises on more than one night, I'd have to politely ask to move. If I wake up at night, I'm up for hours.

We are booked in a studio villa coming up in a couple of weeks and for the life of me I cannot remember what the size of the coffee pot is (4 or 10 cup) is and if it is cone or flat filters needed

thanks in advance

Are the magical deals usually only during off times or has anyone ever gotten one for a peak time? I'm hoping we can go back spring 2018. March or April would be ideal but I really really want to stay at BC. Has anyone gotten any kind of 30% off or more during the wider spring break season in the past year or two? It seems like people are always saying there were no general public rooms/discounts available during those times at BC.

I would be willing to move what month if it means a room I can afford at BC. We rented points at the Poly last time, and it was great (availability at 6 months which seems unheard of at bcv), but it definitely made me nervous to have a reservation I couldn't cancel in case of a random work conflict etc. I'd do it if it was our only chance for BC in early spring though.

We are going March 8-13th and then June 20-29th with the deal :) We are staying June 14-20th at the Poly because we couldn't get the deal for the Beach Club at that time.

Thanks for responding. That gives me some hope. I really hope there are some steep enough discounts when we want to go. It seems like BC, more than any other resort, gets booked up without discounts. Why does everyone have to love it? LOL.

We just got back from a stay in the BCV studios and had a 4 cup maker with flat filters. You can request a larger coffee maker if you want. Also, on the subject of alarm clock radios, we called for one after we checked in and it was delivered in 5 minutes. It's the "old" iHome clock radios that used to be in al studios.

We got home yesterday from a 6 day vacation at the beach club and had the same experience as you. We were in room 2664 and after a long but wonderful and fun first day that started at 4 am, we crawled exhausted into bed to be awaken by what we thought was a power washer and compressor at 2 am lasting for at least an hour.

I understand they have to do maintenance on the front entrance during quiet times but they should be proactive and not book guests in those rooms for that night. It was extremely frustrating. I kept telling myself it would be over soon. I didn't see the point in going to the front desk because obviously this was a scheduled maintenance and there was nothing they could do about it.

Our ac/hvac unit also was loud with a whining banging noise every few minutes.

A balcony isn't a big priority to us so not having one didn't bother us and we loved the oversize of the room and having the king bed. We also liked the location. The people noise from the lobby also didn't bother us but I agree with you that if you get one of those rooms and like complete quiet, those rooms are not for you and you should move.

We had the best weather we have ever had on our trips to disney. We enjoyed walking more and taking the bus/boats less. We walked thru EPCOT and took the monorail to our visits to MK and the Poly for our O'Hana dinner.

Next up, BC in 90 days with our youngest dd, our oldest dd and sil and our grandson for his first trip to disney.

:wave:Dee, we arrived the day after you left and we took ME from the airport too.

Well, we got on the bus and were in the second row of seats. The bus driver came on and told everyone we would be stopping at CB, BW and BC. No mention of YC. Off we go. We stop at CB, and BW and on our way into the BC, I asked him if we stop at YC too since I had thought/remembered that it was usually a stop on this route. He told me YC was a different resort and he had been working here and doing this run for over a year and YC has never been one of his stops :confused3 I assumed they had changed the route.

I just :rotfl:when I read your post about your stops and remembered our bus driving telling us he has never stopped at YC in over a year! Hopefully, no one going to the YC gets on his bus :rotfl2:

Does anyone know if any of the standard view club level rooms have balconies? I wasn't going to bother with a room request but if a balcony is a possibility I might submit one. Thanks!

:welcome: to this thread.

Sorry to hear about the issues with your room- Really, noise that is loud enough to disturb guests should not happen overnight. I am a light sleeper, too , and I can appreciate your frustration.

May I put the description of your room on the BC Room View/Description thread? Do you have any pictures of your view?

:goodvibes

:woohoo:

See below for the answer to your coffee question.

Thank you for the answer about the coffee maker.

Someone asked for a clock during the hurricane sequestration and got one (I think they were villas, too). We asked during our YC CL stay and were told they didn't have them. I wonder if I should have asked housekeeping instead of a CL CM.

Still frustrated about the clock situation.

Is it time to move on from this annoyance? Maybe, but without a clock, I don't know what time it is.

Thanks for your review as well. May I add that to the BC Room View/Description thread? Same question- any pictures of the view?

If you receive an after-stay survey from Disney, be sure to mention that the overnight resort maintenance disturbed your sleep.

Weird!

We'll be at the Beach Club June 25-July 3d.

Thanks!

I'll add you to the list.

When is your trip?

Yes, many of the BC CL SV rooms have full balconies. It is worth a request.

::yes::

Is the walk from the BC to the Ale and compass long?

5 minutes tops at a leisurely pace lobby to lobby. You are inside for most of the walk, covered for all. The outside path is a little quicker, I think.

:cool1:

So excited....just booked one night YC CL after we get off the Dream in April!!! Will be a great way to end our vacation....and was only a few $$$ more than the "special" I was quoted for BC SV with my AP discount! :)

Dee, can you please add us to the Be Our Guest list 4/3-4/4?

Thank you!!!

Will do!

Yes, it was Housekeeping who we called and delivered the clock. They were very good throughout our stay with Trash/towel service and replenishing supplies when we needed them.

Just back from a wonderful 1 bedroom BCV stay.
We had perfect weather all week. It was mid 70's last weekend up to mid 80's as the week went on. Sunny to partly cloudy with a breeze every day. Not a drop of rain.
To my surprise I liked the BCV renovation. Based on the pictures I though I would miss the old decor, but I did not. We were on Villa 172 overlooking the canal. Everything was in perfect condition. I did notice a dent in the refrigerator door, and I wondered how is that possible so soon?
We had a Garden Grocer delivery and I was very pleased. You have an option when ordering to order ripe bananas or green bananas, so I always order a few of each, so they are perfect as the week goes on. Our order was perfect.
Every CM we interacted with were so nice, not a complaint about one. I was especially pleased with the helpful Transportation CM's. I use a scooter at Disney and they always were willing to help with a smile.
My favorite meal of the trip was at San Angel Inn. I had the Pollo a Las Rojas and it was just delicious. Our biggest disappointment was at Raglan Road.
Food and Wine was great, as always. We avoided the weekend this year, except for yesterday after checkout. It was mobbed then and we didn't stay too long. During the week our longest wait at a booth as about 7 mins. There were crowds, but the booth lines moved quickly.
AS DVC owners who try to go to Food & Wine every year, I will be booking next years trip in just a few weeks. I love always having a trip to look forward to.

Any tips for NYE at Epcot? Do you recommend a mid-day break (staying at BC)? How often do capacity closures include resort guests?

I have been looking up trip reports but don't find much on Epcot, mostly MK. Is the usual fastpass viewing area available during the 11:40pm showing of illuminations or will that area be used for one of the dinner/dessert packages?

Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated!

I found the trip report I was thinking of, from NYE 2013-14: MagicBands + Margaritas + Muggles + Minions by eandesmom.

They were staying BWI, spent the morning at AK and entered EPCOT at 4:30 pm NYE. No lines getting in, crowded once they did.

The several chapter update of that evening starts here:

We're at BCV for NYE, and also planning to do Epcot that night. All of my research suggests that unless the crowds are even huger (is that a word?) than usual, Epcot won't close to resort guests. According to the threads I've seen, Epcot hasn't had any phased closures since NYE 1999/2000. Even then, resort guests are the last to be excluded. I expect MK will have closures, but not Epcot.

There isn't (thus far) an Illuminations dessert party that night. There's a dinner buffet at World Showplace but it doesn't include fireworks viewing. I suspect something will be announced at some point, though, since I can't see them not taking advantage of that particular cash cow on a night like NYE when people would pay a premium for better viewing spots.
