Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

We have reservations for early August in a standard room. What will happen (where might they try to move us) if the resort isn't open yet?

They used the phrase “late July” in the DBP post from the room reveal a few weeks ago. Seems like they just updated the website to reflect the same.

I’m not going to worry too much about my Lapu Lapu plans for 7/19. 😎

Yeah - I did go to a private browser and looked at my dates (7/19-24) - available - and one date earlier (7/18-23) - not available. So for now 7/19 is still good to go!

Popping back in here - I'm hoping for a post-Thanksgiving stay (11/27-12/5) at the Poly! I'm waiting to hear back from my TA, but it looks like the package price for a deluxe studio standard view or the resort-side standard view rooms are the same. I told her either/or is fine with me, just book it! My daughter and I were able to sneak over to Kona Cafe when we stayed at AKL-Kidani last October and cannot wait to actually, finally be there.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at Poly yesterday and was so appreciative of the posts on this forum before our trip that I would like to give a quick update to those that are going while still under construction!

Breakfast at Kona
We arrived Saturday with no room texts except to say they were still preparing our room at 3:30! We had done online checkin and requested a noon arrival. We had to pick up magic bands so went to Pago Pago to inquire about room. They just received our room assignment and we were in Tokelau 2nd floor per request. I have stayed at Poly but not on the DVC side and knew the room was larger than most, but we were pleasantly surprised at layout (2 baths!) and storage room! We had reservations at Narcoosee’s that night and walked over about 10-15 minutes.
The beds were comfortable. My daughter and granddaughter slept on the pullout and didn’t have any issues.
We had breakfast reservations at Kona next morning at 7:50 service was extremely fast, pleasant, and accommodating. We had macadamia pancakes, eggs, and Tonga toast! We are not sweet eaters especially at breakfast but thought it was all good but the pancakes were excellent. Unless you like sweets I would not make a special trip for the Tonga toast. We drove to AK and walked in at 8:45 I uodgraded 2 tickets to PH and we ride Na’vi and FOP within 1 1/2 hours. We essentially did everything by 1:30 pm and left for MK. A few side notes:
Construction noise was not an issue and with the exception of the pathway to GF being slightly diverted access was not an issue. Pools were open and being used although it was slightly colder when we were there, but I did not see any activities. They were listed though. We only used bus one time and it was extremely fast to/ from Epcot. We had a great time and I must admit Poly isn’t my favorite resort, but I definitely am glad we were there this trip!

Is there any benefit to checking in early? Our trip is in 30 days, the app seems to have an option to check in? Why is that available now?

Yes it starts a process that should allow you to bypass the need to stop at the Front desk (currently in Pago Pago) and go directly to your room if available or go directly to the parks after you drop your luggage with Bell Services.

You should get a SMS txt message when your room is ready and you can use your exiting MBs or ones that were shipped to your or your smartphone to open your room door. Your room assignment information will also show up under your reservation in MDE.

If you are arriving by DME from the Airport, when you checki-n at the MDE desk the hotel is notified that you are on the way.

Online check-in also allows to assign a credit / debit card for your resort folio and set a PIN for use.

Now after all that detail: Online check-in is still optional and you can just show up at Front desk and interact with the CMs.

First stay at the Poly. Have some questions and wanted some feedback from the experts.

Have Kona reserved for breakfast and dinner the same day. If you could only do one which would you chose? Does Kona do walk-ins?

What time is the Electrical floating pageant?

Requested Tokelau and Moorea through mde. I’d prefer a room with a balcony...would you still recommend faxing the resort? We’re staying in a standard dvc villa. From what I understand Tokelau has a balcony on the 2nd and 3rd floor while Moorea only has them on the 3rd.

Tonga toast and coconut meatballs are on my list...any other suggestions for must try food and drink? Big fan of specialty cocktails just not a huge pineapple fan.

How reliable is the boat from the pier for transportation to MK? What time does it start running?

How crowded does the Tambu lounge get after the parks let out?

Same question with the lava pool crowds. I understand it varies so just asking in general.

Does the Poly have a concierge?

Any other suggestions are welcome
Kona breakfast is great! I would pick that. Kona has in the App Kona to go and stand by seating(i think you have to be NEAR it to get it to pop up in APP)

Last week EWP was GF 8:40, Poly 8:50. You can go to the walking path in between resorts to see GF version if want to see it twice.

The nachos are usually popular from CC's. Tambu lounge has great flatbreads. The seafood one was amazing!

I never take boat for rope drop. I use it to return or go out later in the day. Mono is best for Rope Drop.

Tambu can be crowded or dead. It all depends lol. Very random and unpredictable. If it gets busy ER at GF is also nice and not far away.

I did both pools last week with 90 temps. I had no problem getting a chair and pools quiet. After resort opens it will be a zoo.

There usually is a lobby concierge. However you check in now at Pago so I am not sure. However the cms at check in can help you with most things. They are very knowledgeable.

TAKE the time to see tiki lights lit up at night and listen to the hawaiin music! So lovely !

Its been liike that for a while. I always just check in right away. You can still cancel or change reservation even if you check in FYI.

Thank you! I heard transportation last week was a nightmare

I am staying at the Poly in May and have questions re: how to get to the parks in the morning. Specifically, will the ferry from the Polynesian get us to the Magic Kingdom in time for “rope drop” or should we stick with the monorail from the TTC? I know the parks are opening before the advertised hours - will the monorail/ferry/buses be running early enough for us to enter park when they start allowing guests in? Or do you need to drive yourself in order to get there for the actual opening?

Thank you!

Stupid question. the Monorail at the TTC, does it still stop at GF or does it go right to MK?

There are no stupid questions!

Yes, the Resort Monorail still makes all the normal stops, just not Poly. So, TTC-GF-MK-CR-TTC.

Of course if you’re at the TTC you could always opt to take the Express Monorail line which just goes from TTC (through CR but no stopping) to MK.

Hope that helps.
