Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

Quick ? for you pros:

My DS is 16, would 1 of us be able to attend the class with him?

2nd ?- I know that we will need 3 tickets for our family for a June class. We might be having another person, but they are not sure yet, can I order that ticket later?

I am assuming you could go to the class. As far as ordering tickets later, I was told no. My whole family is considering going, but not committed. The person at YES who emailed me back said tickets are just for immediate family of the participants, and I wouldn't be permitted to add tickets later. I would buy the ticket now or have him/her pay full price later. I am trying to convince my dad to commit(he is paying for this trip). This would save him $1000 for our 8 tickets!

I'm pretty sure my wording in my comment included "it sounds like maybe…" and "just a curious question…" as opposed to "I am certain…" and "I know for a fact…" I think the above reference to making up threats and scares is a bit of a stretch. My observation from previous posts is that a group that was able to participate previously is now being denied. There are also others who have posted that no-shows may be a reason for tighter restrictions on group credentials and, IMO, ticket length. Also, if you "hate when people make up threats and scares" it is always an option to use a PM for clarification of what the person posting was trying to convey.

Exactly, which leads to more than myself wondering if those wanting to "lie about their child's age to save a few bucks" are going to cause more restrictions in the program.

You are correct. And that is the beauty of a public forum where everyone can express their opinions, theories etc. Everything we read should taken with a grain of salt, but without assumptions.

lol, everyone makes assumptions. I assume you have made many about me, judging from your post.:rotfl: I know it took an act of God, pretty much to find our ticket information while we were there. No one was tracking anything, imo. I had every piece of paperwork, and talked to everyone involved. So, imo, and my assumption is that no one gives a crap about it. I also assume that this means that Disney will eventually make changes, but that is, of course, just my opinon, and an assumption...;)

I have no need to send a pm about anything. I don't have anything to hide. Clarification can be found here for everyone. I am merely asking the question has this actually happened to anyone ever? Ummmm, no.

Wow! Can I have my nice quiet informative money saving educational thread back please? :lmao:

If I wanted this drama I would go to the Community Board!

Oh, wait, I am on several threads there too.
Maybe it's me?
:thumbsup2

Well maybe you could have your friend book a 2 bedroom? that is considered one room, but it can be quite a lot of points. If she has them to give, then hopefully it won't be a problem? Even if it is, you can still rent from someone here or from David's. Where there's a will there's a way!

She's let me access her account to I going to be doing most of the work, she'll do any calls that need to be made. I know with some companies you have an option to buy extra points... Does anyone know if RCI does this? She's got plenty, but if we go through my Mom's account not the friend, they mom will need to buy about 3000 pts (if I'm reading it correctly).

I was told the same thing. Here is the email I received.

We just opened summer registration so you are able to sign up now. The tickets would only be for the students & their immediate family (Parents and grandparents). Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends and others possibly associated with a group would not be able to purchase this specially priced ticket. The 8 Day premium ticket is $208.92. These tickets are non-refundable. Additional programs can be added but tickets cannot be added if the order has already been processed, typically within a day of entering the order online

Also, I did the sign-up/order on Monday and the debit card transaction showed up this morning when I checked my online banking.

I'm not sure if I remember, is your Mom a DVC owner? I don't know about RCI at all, but you DEFINITELY do not need 3000 DVC points! :scared1:

When are you planning on going, maybe I can help further.

Neither Mom or her friend are with DVC, we are going through RCI. I know the points scale is different and that's what confuses me. I can not find anything that will give me an exchange rate. Mom's through BG and in theory, we could use her points on a 'nightly' basis.. but the friend is a 'weekly' basis and through a totally different company (but still has RCI membership).

While looking at weekly swaps from RCI to DVC, there is only 1 room open right now.. and its in July. Next exactly when we were wanting to go. We want to go in October. I'm thinking if we go through Mom's RCI we might be able to find something for fewer nights as we didn't intend on staying a full 7 nights in the first place.

I still need to talk to my Dad about how to access his RCI account. They ask me to plan everything, and gave me the access info to his BG account. We both forgot about the other at the time. My mother was confused as well. I was trying to explain to her that her BG points get transferred to RCI points and then you can book DVC that way. (At least that's the way I was told) She was planning to stay right outside of Disney using her points at another resort and we would spend all of our time AT Disney. She can not understand that if would be the same, if not better for us to use the same points and stay at DVC.

Luckily we have a few months and I'm not too stressed. Disney's not announced their promos for the fall and the YES or IE classes aren't available yet either, so there's not a lot I can do but book a room before all that is available.

I reg. last week also.
Also got the confirm email.
Checked my card online today, no charge.

It may have something to do with the "Will Call" selection.

When I ordered our group tix for Nov., I had them mailed to me. The charge showed up a feww days after I placed the order online.

Same for us. Placed order last week, received confirmation email, but no charge showing up. I hope everything is okay. I'm not sure if I should call.

Just keep an eye on your card. Ours wasn't charged right away, but it WAS charged before we went, and then they tried to charge us again at will call. I pointed out that it was paid already and had no problem. Also, FYI, before I went, I couldn't find more specific directions than 'Downtown Disney'. It's at Disney Quest, not the World of Disney end.

I just wanted to let all those that are following this thread know that I am putting together a YES group, or possibly 2 , for Thanksgiving weekend.. Please come join us! :thumbsup2

I'm curious to know if anyone has RECENTLY had any luck with this. I put together a group for June and we were DENIED by Disney. They are apparently cracking down on the more "random" groups and only allowing FULLY ESTABLISHED groups such as church youth groups, girl scout groups, etc. Otherwise, open/individual enrollment is the only option. We have had to change our trip plans and extend it by 4 nights in order to do an open/individual enrollment class. You must be able to show PROOF of your group. Our LEAP group has a FB page, but they would NOT accept that as proof/validation.

Me too placed order last week no charge showing yet I am having them shipped not picking up at will call window. I don't know if I should call or not either.

lol, you've got it. :) This is a fun program and I am grateful it is now available for those who are not a part of a group. I do wish they had made the homeschool class only available for homeschoolers, but such is life.

I just wanted to mention that I also have not been billed yet on my c/c and I paid last week and received my confirmation for our June class. I remembered reading on the board this was common. :thumbsup2

Do you mind my asking what kind of proof they requested? I am trying to put together a group fro Thanksgiving, and When I called they asked what type of group it was, but did not request any proof. I have not done the registration yet, so I imagine they could ask at that time. If I knew what they wanted, I could be prepared. Thanks!

Web site or something just to prove that it was an "established" group. After I did the application, they called me to "validate" the group. They were not satisfied with the "proof" I gave them and denied our request for a class. Said it couldn't just be "people meeting in the park to do a class." I think they would want some sort of verification that everyone was from the same area too. I told them we were an online group of parents that tried to find fun ways to educate our children. Told them we had a Facebook page (which the LEAP group does). But we were still denied. He said it had to be a school group, youth group, girl scout group, something like that. Not just a random group.

In addition to what you were told, I was also told that everyone in the group must have park tickets for the same dates (same date arriving, same date leaving).

That wouldn't be a big deal. Just have the date start with the first arrival, and end when the last person is leaving. They don't have to be used the same days in the same parks or anything like that. Then they would also cover the week before and the week after.

For those who have recently placed orders but not yet been charged..

I ordered tix on 1/27 and called yesterday because I hadn't been charged yet. The girl I spoke to said that they've been innundated with orders since the summer individual enrollment opened up and that the charges are taking up to a week or more to go through. Mine went through this morning. :thumbsup2

Also make sure you photograph or copy the back of each ticket. We normally do this but hadn't yet. Then my purse was stolen. Do not believe anyone who says to just keep the paperwork!!!!! Just sayin'
