So I ordered my 1st ever pizza at Trails End last week. That was pretty bad pizza. Don't know if it was the cook or the ovens but it seemed under done and floppy. Not saying I will never order it again as it could have just been a one off. Do they usually have half way decent pizza?

Editors Note: I eat Totino's pizzas so I am far from a pizza snob.

i had one last february, the Smokehouse, it was great, crispy, but i asked for it well done

hey, if your still there, can we get an update on the meadows pool construction? Pic maybe?

The TE pizza has been one of those meal options that (speaking statistics now) has an average (barely above okay) but a WIDE distribution curve (in other words, a large standard deviation-some think it's a good meal and almost the same number think it isn't). We've had some compliments but the reviews have been all over the map in the last 5 years or so. Speaking for myself, I've never bought one and wouldn't unless it was the last option available before they shut the kitchen down for the night.

Although the TE buffet is now non-existent, the pick-up side with take-out pizza has been in operation for more than 15 years IIRC even when the buffet was running. We liked to get the fried chicken takeout (the Giddy-up-and-Go or [GAG] with two sides) which fed our family of 2 adults/3 growing kids for $25-30. But while waiting for the GAG at the inside counter, I saw a lot of frozen pizzas (wide stiff hockey pucks) shoved into the oven for pick-up. Based on the oven heat and length of time in the oven, YMMV.

So to answer your question, @jkh36619 , there has been no consistent quality standard IMO.

That's just my opinion (worth zero what you paid for it). It's a risky proposition unless you're a gambler.

Yeah, We love the fried chicken as well. Been to Hoop many times and it never disappoints. Never had the takeout chicken but I understand its the same.

@team bradfield Man, sorry but I left Saturday. I should have got pics of the pool and that monstrosity by the shore.

@jkh36619,

Your experience is similar to mine (and many others). The pizza was generally considered one of the worst food choices at the old TE and hasn't got any better with the new TE. I've tried it twice. First was years ago and it was cardboard terrible. A number of years later I gave it another chance and it was equally bad. Totinos is a huge step up from the TE pizza.

I am a pizza snob. Our pizza went in the trash after one bite. I don't get it! They have quality deck ovens and there's no reason for an underdone floppy pizza.

I will be in FW at the end of Sept and thought about the pizza at TE. After hearing about the quality, I’m going to get a Pizza Hut pizza, at home, vacuum seal the slices and bring it with me! Pizza reheats nicely on parchment paper in the oven!

That might be a wise move, @Tuffcookie .

I still have the phone number in my cell phone for the Papa John's pizza store in Lake Buena Vista near to WDW. My preference is to go get reputable takeout pizza rather than chance the Trails End product.

PS - and I don't pay the price for delivery. I'd rather get out and about myself and get a pizza pie (or two) along the way.

Pizza hut! Ouch. May be better off getting some nice itallian bread ( freeze it for a longer trip) splitting it in half and making a pizza sandwich! Easy cheap and may be better. Not good for people watching there carbs. But, Good for me.

Historically, there has never been good pizza at the Fort. I was hoping that situation would improve with the new TE. I’ll be back in March and will still give it a try!

It's not carry-out, or even super fast food, but I have found the Walmart Great Value Pizza Crust 6.5 oz packages to make a nice crust. I add 1 teaspoon of yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar, and a shake or so of salt. Mix it up, form into a ball and coat it with a spray or so of olive oil, and let it rise for an hour. At this time, get your toppings together/prepared. Roll it out, and bake or maybe even cook in electric skillet. Could do personalized pizzas this way.

I don't have a camper, but am planning on using the grill at the site to try. I made a fig and onion foccacia with the mix yesterday, and I thought it was pretty tasty. The mix is shelf stable, and portable.
