Disney World is a little "weird" right now

I also just got back from a trip that was last week and noticed NO difference in the CMs at all. Seriously not getting why everyone is experiencing this. What I DID notice a difference in was the rudeness of many of the guests in the parks and at the resort. It was shocking ad depressing to witness. People getting up before the end of a performance to 'herd' out because they have to get to their next thing. People parking their fat butts in the middle of aisles instead of moving to the end, people cutting in lines and shoving in the walkways...I could go on and on. No wonder why the CMs are not as friendly as the guests demand. I also think there is a huge sense of entitlement on behalf of the guests that you don't see anywhere else. Overall a very low class group.

BTW-our magic bands worked every. single. time. They were a dream and made our experience 100% better.

We'll see how a business plan like this works out.:rotfl: I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it ends terribly!
That's just it-----this has worked out for Disney very well. DVC is booming and spreading to every resort. Are there any deluxe resorts now without DVC????? My nightmare will come when Disney starts to sell DVC for the moderates and values!!!! If people buy those then it's really over. :rotfl:

Well- you are seeing one thing and I am noticing the complete opposite. People who love FastPass+ are being called dumb and clueless by other posters. It's completely not called for-----we all can spend our money and like whatever we want.....just like you can choose to not to spend your money on Disney and dislike whatever you want. There is no right or wrong here..just people's personal tastes.

Your issues are with Disney and only Disney not with the people who enjoy FastPass+.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just pointing out that I am seeing alot more attacking from FP+ supporters than I am from those who oppose it.
It is wrong for both sides to do.

Ha ha! AWESOME!!!!!! And...might I add you have the most perfect timing-----I was drowning here. :rotfl: Seriously speaking... you are not the first person here to mention the high level of rude and low class guests in the parks. Man, I hope I don't see this when I go but your comments are almost identical to reports I have read lately. Even unto that....I am pretty stoked about returning to Disney and good solid reports like this help to reaffirm my excitement!!!! Woo-hoo! :thumbsup2

I think people are mistaken when they claim Disney doesn't want loyal visitors. People have taken that sentiment and ran with it around here, but I don't believe it to be true.

Disney needs loyal customers. Disney needs people to keep coming back and buying tickets, food, staying in the resorts, etc. It's not all about getting people there for their first time so they buy a few more souvenirs.

I think the issue here is Disney has to work hard to lose those loyal customers, as portrayed here. It really does take a lot to lose a loyal Disney guest, and at the opposite end they really don't have to work to hard to get us to come back. Sometimes it may feel like Disney isn't marketing towards us, but that's only because they don't have to. They absolutely do need the repeat guests though, there aren't enough first timers to keep the parks and hotels packed like they like them.

Very valid point and I agree. Obviously any business wants repeat customers, however Disney seems to feel that they are able to take their repeat guests for granted...and honestly, like you said, it seems as though there are a good amount of repeat Disney guests who are okay with Disney kinda taking advantage of them and not marketing towards them at all. - Although I don't like it, I suppose it is smart business sense. Why give/offer more or market towards a group who are going to come and spend their money regardless?

See.... I think Disney is marketing to me and I like what I see. Disney or no other business can "take advantage" of me. It is my money...and I spend it how and where I want. As a consumer it is my responsibility to understand what it is that I am buying and if it is worth it to me. We all know that "worth" is subjective. Some people think it's worth it to rent a car and some people don't....either way no one is being taken advantage of. This is a vacation and Disney is a business...we can choose to buy their product or not. Just because I like Disney and their product doesn't mean I'm being taken advantage of. I know exactly what I want and I know how to get it. Disney doesn't give me anything ------ I pay for it. :thumbsup2

Moving to TP Community so that this general discussion and DVC ownership can continue :)

No absolutely not. The reason people go to Disney are the parks. Disney is basically milking what was done until about 2000. There is only so much life in what was done in that time frame. If they don't build rides like they were it will bite them in time. That's how I see it.

I'm glad that you had the opposite experience. But this is not an excuse for CM's being "not as friendly as guests demand." I can feel empathy for CM's, but still expect the same level of decency. I'm glad your magic bands worked, but its just not that way for everybody. Mine mostly worked though.

Skater- I think you perfectly captured the problem. Guests DEMAND at WDW--much more than anywhere else. Its the sense of entitlement I was talking about. Guests want to feel like they can treat a CM just as bad and miserable as they want to and because its WDW the CM should take it with a smile and keep shaking *pixie dust*.

I don't want to discount some of the not so good experiences that I have read about on here-they do sound like bad service which shouldn't be acceptable anywhere. But for the most part my personal experience has been that the service at WDW is still exemplary and should be commended. Esp with the people they have to deal with.

:thumbsup2 you hit the nail on the head!!

Sounds to me like there are a lot of stupid people who don't educate themselves on going to Disney before they go and that's why they have a bad time.

So true...

It's like folk who complain about how horrible Disney is. They badmouth Disney constantly, about how the lines went on forever, how the parks were horribly crowded, how there were no restaurants available, how all of the quick service places were incredibly packed, how it was too hot or too cold. And when you ask, you find out they went during summer/Spring Break/Christmas vacation, went to the parks in the afternoons only without ever considering what "park levels" were, and they didn't even realize FP (- or +) existed. :rolleyes2

Maybe the problem is Disney lets in too many people during those times.

Never tried FP+
I am curious how many of the posters have actually experienced the new program vs all the rest? Maybe it would be helpful if everyone disclosed at the start of their comment whether or not they have actually experienced the new system it would help everyone who have not -- navigate its pitfalls. I realize have already divulged this info.

I can only speak to my own observances. I don't treat CM's (or anyone else for that matter) bad. Ever. I experienced impatience, negativity, and a little unkindness on this trip. Of course, I also experienced that exemplary service you mention. I just felt that the vibe was different this time. Maybe it was bad luck or maybe it was due to the problems that some people have experienced with the new system. Who knows?

We loved our trip and felt the FP+ was perfect and seamless. CMs were just as kind and went above and beyond as usual. We felt like royalty! A magical trip for sure! Just to encourage those with upcoming trips. :)

I have never visited WDW without a FastPass System. I have used the paper fastpass system, I have used with FP+ system when you could still use paper FP+ too.

We loved the paper FP system. We didn't care much for the FP system. Hated the tiers at EPCOT and HS, hated the limitation of 3 FP's. I'd also like to point out that we NEVER rope drop so technically FP+ should work well for us. It means we can guarantee FP for Soarin and TSM. And we still don't like FP+ at all. We are going to give it one more try, hopefully once more glitches have been sorted and the system it more settled. If we don't like it, we will be going to Disneyland instead. Disney won't care, they still get their money. But DL is much better since there is no FP+
