Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

I officially started packing! It went like this:
"Hey dad, that's wild looking!!! Is that for pirate night?"
"Uh, that's my formal outfit."
"I thought 'that' was for formal night?"
"Those are my jammies."
"I thought 'those' were your jammies??"
"Semi-formal."
"Isn't that outfit over there semi-formal???"
"Swimsuit, son."
"MOM!! Dad's staying home, right????"

Last January we did the Eastern Caribbean cruise. Ashley & I wore full pirate outfits. I swear we were the only ones. This year, I have a Pirates of the Caribbean polo from the outlet. That is it, and I am keeping my buccaneers under my buckin' hat.

Hi! Is your name Jessica too? I should probably know that but I've been so busy I haven't really kept up with the boards (sorry). I ABSOLUTELY have extra bracelets! I had to buy about 9 extra and just pay for them myself in order to meet the quantity for a price break. The good news is (and everyone who ordered bracelets will get this information in the next couple of days with my PM), but a couple of people ordered bracelets that didn't originally say they wanted any so the price went down! :thumbsup2 I think I last posted that they were $180+ but they went down to $1.26 each! :woohoo: Let me know if/when you decide you want any and I will send you a PM with the info!

Jessica,

I didn't check the boards through the Christmas season. Yes, I would like 3. Or if you only have 1 or 2, that will do. Send me a PM with info please. If we get the nursery while at Cabo, I am considering Cabo Wabo. We plan to keep our toddler with us at Mazatlan but try to get extra nursery time for PV and Cabo. We'll see...

Thank you all for the warm welcome! You guys are the best!!!! We can't wait to meet you. Yes, I have Bankruptcy Firms in southern CA in San Diego, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles. Mostly, however, I personally specialize in complex child custody litigation in State Court. So let the tax write-off's begin! Actually, that's my side job: I'm the keyboardist for Sixty Years On, a (hopefully!) well-known Elton John tribute band. My DW is our lighting director. We're hoping to meet some new friends (and kid friends for the kids) so we know people on the cruise. This is going to be the most fun we've ever had!

We are visiting relatives in San Diego, San Marcos and Temecula before the cruise so we are super-excited. I have been to San Diego about 6 or 7 times, and I love it! We would move there if it weren't so expensive in real estate.

we are right down the hall. Last year we got a last minute free upgrade to a bigger room on deck 8. Sounded great. But every night we heard them drag deck chairs out above us and every morning put them back out. Argh!

How do people get these? Just luck I assume? We have an oceanview on deck 2 but we have a toddler and an 11 year old and it would sure be nice to have an upgrade to either a better room or a better deck. Oh well...

Cari - I don't know if you got my message or not so I just wanted to follow-up. However you need to pay for the wristbands is fine, I understand your situation with having difficulty on the computer, so whatever works for you is fine. :) If you need anything from me just let me know! We're so excited to meet you guys - and everyone on the board! Ryan, Kris, Sheri, others, and I only have 16 days until sailing - everyone else only has 18 days...it's getting close! :woohoo:

Karen - I mailed out your bracelets. I put them in the mail yesterday but I think the mail man might have already come. Either way, they either went out yesterday or today! Remember when you get them that they take quite a bit of time under a light until they start glowing, but once they glow they're pretty neat! Oh yeah - I also updated your dining time - sorry that took so long!

Tonya - I think someone already responded to you about Randi's, but just in case I thought I would give you a bit more info. Yes, your 8 year old is permitted to ride, they have kids younger than that all the time. In our group alone there will be some 5 year old's riding! :woohoo: Email Randi at randi@randishappyhorses.com and tell her you are with the group from the Disney Wonder. She is trying to get everyone on the same tour (begins at 8:30 with drop off back to the ship at or before 2:00). She has said that if there are too many people she will split it up into two groups. As of now there's a good 20 of us riding, so it would be awesome to have you guys join us! It is $45 per person and HIGHLY recommended. Kris has done Randi's ride before, and so has my mother-in-law! Also - no credit cards accepted, CASH ONLY!

Sue - I'm sad you guys might not do Cabo Wabo - Ryan and I were planning on hanging out with you guys that day! Hopefully your submarine tour will work out and you can go! If not, that's OK too. Ryan and I will go with the group of others going, and/or (if we win some shipboard credit :woohoo:) we might book a tour or something!

Kris & Sue - You guys are too much, I love it! Make sure you bring some extra wide duct tape - I'm a pretty big girl! :rotfl2: Bring me some ear plus for the divinci of destruction song and I'll go - if we all sit together! :cool1:

We should have enough FE gifts for all the NKOTB (New Kids on the Boat) too. Welcome everyone!

I was wondering if anyone had any info on pin trading on the ship. I couldn't find much by searching the boards. I know it's not as common as in the parks but do you see CM's walking around with lanyards? We weren't trading as of our last cruise so I wasn't paying attention.

-steve

There is pin trading in the atrium every night, but there aren't many CM's there (maybe a half dozen that I recall). Hopefully the trading will be a little better on the longer cruises. The DVC kiosk person had pins to trade on our last cruise so did most of the CMs in the gift stores.

Thanks Ryan and everyone else who responded. I'm not really interested in trading with other guests. Emma and I are still so new to it. I doubt I will want to set aside much time for it. I just liked walking through Disneyland and seeing CMs walk by with lanyards and I'd approach them and check out what they had on my way to rides and shows. On the cruise, I'm just planning on keeping some pins I want to get rid of in my pocket and keep an eye out for anything cool I see on a lanyard walking by.

Emma gets into it too but she just likes the act of trading and doesn't really care what she gets or gives up. This leaves me to try to piece together Princess sets for her.

They give out a pin for wine tasting??? Doh! We bought tickets for wine tasting on our last cruise but had to give them away since Emma wouldn't go to the Oceaneer Club. I'm gonna go steal one off her lanyard. That kid owes me!

Thanks again!

Jessica, am I sensing a little bit of "neener, neener, neener" (sp?) here?

My son (3) said tonight just before bed that he wanted to go to the Mickey boat now. He's been practicing with his wheeled Hot Wheels case how to pull the luggage. And I just picked up a kids Cars carry-on, so I'm sure he'll be super excited when he sees it.

I was also thinking of you, Jessica, when I picked up a Toy Story t-shirt on sale for the Toy Story Musical :)

Time to get busy with making t-shirts, magnets, and stateroom ears before classes start next week. :teacher:

And Dave :rockband:, you're too funny! In fact, I read your post to my DW as I thought it was hilarious; she simply rolled hear eyes in response.

Steve, here's a whole thread on the main boards about your pin trading question: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2626207

What are the best on board activities? Are there things available that aren't online?

How dressed up typically do kids get on formal nights?
I bought my kids suits when they were half off at Kohl's. I figure they don't dress up like that and it would be a cute picture of the family. If you have a Burlington Coat Factory by you they have them cheap too. Try Walmart and Ebay too.
How many beverages do you guys carry on? I am bringing a bottle of Captain and a case of water. Last time I just packed them in the suitcase. Did somebody say we have to carry them with us now? I am not flying so does that matter?
Thanks!! I did email her a couple of days ago, but haven't heard back. Does it usually take a while? I think some of you said it took a while.

Dave love your webpages too. I am cracking up about the drunk rockers :thumbsup2 Oh and on your concerts did you GO to Bon Jovi or you worked that? If you worked it I am going to be so jealous! That's my man you know! :lovestruc :rotfl:

Sorry I am rambling, but somebody asked about the FE and what to "make". I know some people make stuff. I just bought some stuff. It's all about what you want or can afford. Just something little that people can look at. So if you have any mini bottles of rum, you can always slip them in my FE! LOL Just kidding.. :littleangel:

Continuing Packing:

Huey Lewis shaped air freshener
Ice cubes
Inflatable toast
How long has this been in here??
Egg Nog. Or any kind of nog, really
Chicklets to sell during port excursions
Fan for the state room (Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Model 11237)
box of unusual icons :jumping2:

It's requested that they be packed on your carry-on to prevent spillage/leakage. The checked bags are handled pretty roughly and piled high on one another, so there's a chance a breakage or leakage. Thus, the requirement that they be carried on regardless of how you get to the port.

Happy New Year everyone! :cool1: Hope everyone enjoyed it. Sergio and I were lucky to spend it at Disneyland and it was iNsAnE!!! It was amazing though, and everyone should definitely try to experience it at least once. We were given New Year top hats and horns, and had a DJ playing music from 9-midnight. It was so much fun and very cold, but so worth it!

And welcome to all the newbies! :thumbsup2 I'm glad to see our family is getting bigger. And luckily, I can accommodate FE gifts for all cabins! :goodvibes

Sergio and I are VERY excited about this cruise! Only 18 days away!!! We won't be able to join you at Randi's Horses, but we will definitely go to Cabo Wabo with you guys.

<QUOTE>We don't have a Fry's here. I ended up buying the magnets off of this website. http://www.escapadedirect.com/mainpa.html</QUOTE>

Thank you so much for the site, Tonya! I went ahead and ordered our paper through there. I need to hurry up and finish the FEs since school starts up again on Monday!

Before I forget, I LOVE Sorcerer Mickey (but any Mickey will do ;)), and Sergio loves anything with Cars.

Hope everyone is having a great day! :cool2:

my daughter, tabi, getting the moves put on her by Jack S.

Jessica,

I just read on the other board that they're showing Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams on the two-day cruise. At least you don't have to worry about a second showing of Toy Story :)

I'm back for my once a month visit! :sad2:
Welcome to the newbies:yay::yay: :grouphug:
There has definitley been some VERY funny banter on here, thanks for all the laughs everyone!

Is anyone else in panic mode!!?? I am! :scared1: Note to self: "Don't book a cruise so close after Xmas". Who am I kidding! It wouldn't matter when I booked it, I can't hide my "Do it at the VERY last minute" disease. :rolleyes1

I do have a question about FE. Sailing Sue and Pammy1, (or anyone that can answer), since you have two staterooms I wasn't sure how the FE worked? Will you have just one FE for the family or one for each cabin? This is our first cruise and completely new at FE's. :confused3

As for the question what characters we like...we like too many to pick. DD Jacey likes Hannah Montana (not really a character I know...) or Minnie and DS likes McQueen or Mickey. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any character for any of us!

Better go! Sitting here is not helping my sense of panic over the things I have yet to do for the trip!
