Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

The upgrade wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Room was bigger but we really didn't need it and deck 8 sucked because of the noise from the deck above.

I couldn't really find a decent vodka in a small bottle so I cleaned out a cranberry juice bottle and I think im now set.

Jessica,

I just read on the other board that they're showing Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams on the two-day cruise. At least you don't have to worry about a second showing of Toy Story :)

Kris

LOL. Thank god for that!

LOL. Thank god for that!

See! Someone's looking out for you!

I'll post the movie showings later tonight; I don't feel like doing it from my phone. The other interesting thing to not is that it looks like it will be casual dress for both nights (except Palo) and no dining room rotations.

I will be on the January 23rd Cruise. will be my 4th Disney Cruise.. Can't wait. This is my gift to myself for my 40th Birthday. Will be sightseeing prior to cruise as never been to California before.

Looking forward to it

I'm going on the same cruise for my 40th birthday!! Mine is the week before we sail. I'm excited - - going with my daughter who is 11 and my mother in law.

That's because you're the best! You won't let then you're me up, will you?

Holy moly, how did they find that out?! That kind of bums me out. I hope we don't get stuck with parrot cay!

Dang phone! I meant, "you won't let them tie me up will you!?" LOL, stupid swype!

Kris and anyone else on the two night with us, do you want to cross reference our dining to have dinner together? No worries if not, just thought we'd see! Now that I think of it, I need to see if we booked a palo on the two night...I think we might have

welcome Darrcie!!! and to your 11 year old (we have LOTS of 10 and 11 year old girls on this cruise), and MIL (don't know if there are lots of them.....).

Have you seen the rumors about the tours? That would be interesting (hopefully). Hopefully they have some tours that are different than the normal tours.

I have read that the movies are Tron, Tangled, Toy Story 3, but I haven't heard about anything else.

Thanks! I just found this board and was shocked after I posted that there are 90 pages on this cruise alone! We'd love to meet up with some of you since Ashlie doesn't have a sibling coming along, and I'm sure she'd love other tweens to hang out with.

This is my first Disney cruise, third cruise. The other two have never been on a cruise. We are coming from Washington state - - younger daughter (who is severely disabled and doesn't travel well) is staying home with Daddy (who thought one cruise was enough for a lifetime) and my father in law (who doesn't want to try it.) I'm really glad my mother in law is coming along because she does so much to help out with the girls all the time.

I am a scrapbooker and part time bookkeeper and LOVE to cruise. I'm going to try not to gain back the 25 pounds I've lost on Weight Watchers in one cruise, but I intend to thoroughly enjoy myself. :-)

We have booked a dolphin swim and a lands end coastal cruise. There were a couple other things Ashlie was interested in but they were 12 and up (missed it by 5 months!!)

Thanks for the welcome!

okay, folks, remind me.....when is it we are going to meet up? did we say 3 pm at the ice cream area on promenade deck?

with Ms. Scarlett in the library?

With Col. Mustard in the galley?

at 4 p.m. in the atrium?

I think it was the first one, but it isn't on Jessica's page (hint hint hint)...and I can't remember this morning (feel sorry for me...5 client meetings with bky trustee between 8:30 and 9:30....back at office at 10:30, where I then had 9 consultations in a row, each lasting 45 minutes... (cue the violins, bring out tissue), let alone remember March - June discussions....

I was actually planning on posting about this later this week.

I think the plan was meeting in the Promenade Lounge (Deck 3, Adjacent to Triton's) on day 1 from 2:30 - 3:30. I don't think the lounge is "open" (serving food and drinks) at that time so we should be able to all gather there without any issue.

Part of this is to meet everyone, the other part is to let everyone know if your cabin # changed (if you in the FE group) and to get the wrist bands. The upgrade monkey through us a great upgrade on our last cruise (much better than throwing feces), but it happened at the absolute last minute. I am hoping that we have to update our cabin number, #6000 again would be great.

I've been thinking about putting together a deck plan with the FE rooms highlighted to make finding everyone a little easier. If anyone else is interested let me know. If no one else is interested then I will probably get lazy and forget about it.

Welcome to everyone just joining the group. I just checked the FE site and it looks like we are up to 23 cabins including all the newcomers. We ordered 24 so everyone on the list so far will be getting a gift for us.

Are there any more younger girls, say ages 3-6 joining us? My DD4 (turning 5 after the cruise) is really shy and would love a little friend to meet.

Ryan - I think the map would be really beneficial. If there isn't much interest and you decide not to make one, I'll probably do so to help make our rounds a lot easier. I did this on our last cruise and it made it go a lot faster.

Karen/Ryan - I agree, we should start pinning down some meet ideas. We can have two or three in case people can't make one or more.

The Promenade meet sounds good. Unless anyone has any reasons why that wouldn't work, let's go ahead and call it an official meet. Sound good?

It looks like a Cabo Wabo meet is also in the works with quite a few interested people. What time works best for everyone? It probably shouldn't be any later than 2pm to make sure everyone gets back to the ship on time. Our excursion is supposed to end at 11:45 and I thought I saw someone else's ends around 12:30. What does everyone think? 1:00? 1:30? 2:00?

How about a group breakfast or lunch on a sea day? We could get a rough headcount ahead of time to warn Disney and then meet outside the restaurant 10 minutes prior. We may take up a few tables but can be seated in the same corner. Just a thought.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Is anybody making shirts with our logo on them or no? Just wondering if I need to make some for my family. The last cruise we went on we did that the first day and it was easy to spot everybody. It was funny, people kept asking where we got the shirts and how come some many people had them on. We had a lot more people in our group on the last cruise.

I know some of you were going to Disneyland before or after the cruise. If you haven't bought your tickets yet check out this deal. $169 for a 3 day hopper pass. Hurry, it won't last long at that rate. I love travel zoo!! I have got some good deals. http://www.travelzoo.com/entertainm...rn-california/950998/?ptl=done&rating=&tppct=

Costco also has a four day park hopper for $199, but you get a $50 Disney gift card with it, so it's a really good deal. In addition, you don't have to use all the days within 2 weeks like regular park hoppers.

For those interested, this appears to be the list of movies showing in the theater during our cruise:

Oceans
Toy Story 3D
Sorcerer's Apprentice
Step Up (3D I am assuming)
You Again
Secretariat
Tangled
Tron Legacy

Ryan, I did see the rumor of tours on the 2 day cruise. Other than engine, galley, etc., what could they offering? Maybe they're accepting bookings onboard to better control the numbers?

Jessica,Wasn't I one of the first that suggested tieing you up and dragging to Toy Story? Should you then really count on me to watch your back? :)

I'm more than willing to link reservations, but you may not want to with us as we're traveling with my SIL's family on the 2 day cruise. That means 7 at the table already including an 8, 5, and 4 year old. And on the second night, we're treating my SIL and her husband to dinner at Palo, so it drops to 3 kids against two, which is really bad because I think the ideal ratio of adults to kids is 1.5:1 and 1:1 in a pinch; thus this 1:1.3 is extremely problematic. :). Should be interesting saying goodbye to them as we turn around and get back on the ship.

Well I'm officially prohibited from packing without supervision. Who knew there was that much difference between a snickerdoodle and a labradoodle?

My DW (the one who circulated the petition against me packing -- was it really necessary to get a court order?) makes shirts for our band all the time. She has a Disney (naturally!!) embroidery machine and our lead singer's dad owns a silk screen shop, so we can generally get shirts done, etc., if we can be of help. I think all we'd need is the logo in any format (pdf, jpg, psd, AI, etc.) and we can photoshop it to the proper size and get some printed up. I came on board ("on board," I crack myself up!) late so I don't know where the logo is, but if whoever desiged it has an original at about 180dpi or higher, that would make for a very clear large logo. If we can help just let me know.

Deck 3 Prominade Lounge at 2:30. Got it. I'll bring a plate of labradoodles!
