More space in the family staterooms. Some have the additional Murphy bed. For 4 people, I would want the additional space.

Depends on the age of who is traveling. Two adults and 2 elementary kids? I could be fine in a verandah. 4 adults (or 2 adults, 2 teens)? Family room and make sure it has the murphy.

2 adults and 2 five years olds

I think it’s about 500 dollars more the family room

$500 means different things to different families. For some it is the difference between going or not, for others it might be nothing. If you would cut back on port excursions I would skip it (since the kids will likely fight over the top bunk anyway) but if its not a big deal to you and you would not cut back, the space can be nice

The main difference between a Deluxe Stateroom and Deluxe Family Stateroom (with or without veranda) is that the Family room has additional space by the window/veranda. In some Family rooms, there is a drop-down bed that fills this space when lowered. There may be a little more storage space in the larger rooms as well.

On the Dream and Fantasy, the bathtub is configured differently, with a rectangular tub for Deluxe and a round tub for Deluxe Family. I don't think that difference is on the newer (or older) ships.

If your kids will sleep in the bunk bed and sofa bed, it may not make much difference which room you get. My family started getting Deluxe Family rooms when my son wanted his own bed -- he slept on the drop-down bed, my daughter slept in the bunk, and we had the sofa available even when the beds were down.

No there normally no problem where they sleep and if there is bunk beds there very good and taking turns and changing each night who has the top one

I would have 2 questions.

First, how many nights are you looking at?
Second, how much luggage do you expect to travel with?

If you are just going on a 3-4 night cruise, you should be OK with just a deluxe ocean view with veranda.
If you are looking at a longer cruise, you will find the extra room in the deluxe family to be so much better.

And then if you are traveling light, maybe 2-3 suitcases the deluxe family should be fine.
But if you plan on having a lot of luggage, again the deluxe family stateroom will be so much better for storage.

There is not much storage room in the staterooms as it is so you will need to take that into account when choosing your room.

Having done both rooms, the deluxe family seems so much larger and better!
