Disney Tom's?

Tom prices are pretty high. There are two things you can do to bring down the price:

1. For women - if your foot is an 8 to 8.5 or smaller, you can also buy the kid's Toms. Most - not all - have thicker, white soles, which I like better (less stress on my feet). They are also cheaper.

2. Go to retailmenot and get the Toms coupon. There is almost always a $5 off coupon there. You will have to order online directly from Toms, but I wear the same size in all my Toms, so no big deal. (I've never had to pay shipping, but not sure if they just run promotions frequently or if this is standard policy.)

I've seen the Disney Toms on Etsy. . .I think I would pay for really, really nice work, but the plain ones. . .hmm. Not so much. Not into spending $20 for 5 minutes worth of painting from a template and then paying inflated shipping rates.

I just bought a pair of white converses for $2 (we have a store that sells discount Target merchandise) I'm going to try this with and if it turns out well I may add them to my etsy shop. I definitely agree, some of those prices are insane!

Those are cute.

I'd spring for the sneakers, paint and even
templates. But paying someone that much money for something I could do myself????? No way

The $12 for shipping is what gets me about that one pair. That kind of thing drives me nuts on etsy and ebay.

No joke- I wanted to order a name in rope for a baby shower from an Etsy seller. It cost 55.00-cheap in comparison to some other sellers. The shipping was $30.00 so I didn't buy it.
I looked on Pinterest and found out how to do it myself, then I went to Wal Mart, bought rope, and glue. It cost less than $8.00 to make. A ton of people at the shower asked me how much I would charge to make one for them. I didn't charge anything because I already had the supplies and it was fun.

OP, you can paint the Toms. Like you said, trace, then paint. Make sure to mix fabric medium if you use acrylic paints. This will prevent the paint from chipping.

My son is very talented at drawing and my daughter has pinned so many of these on pinterest so I suggested he do a Little Mermaid pair for her birthday next week as a gift from him. I ordered the white canvas shoes on Amazon for less than $10. I will post pics when he is done.

Question, then, since this is such a cute idea, are they comfortable???? How about to wear most of the day at WDW?????!!!!

They are very, very comfortable. I've worn nothing but Toms on an 8 day WDW trip and been fine - better than usual, in fact, because I didn't get one single blister. The soles fit to your foot and are durable, but are very thin, so if you need some "shock absorbtion" you might have problems. My feet stung a little by the end of that trip, but nothing bad and no bad effects.

They dry quickly, which is a huge bonus, and are cute with outfits - including skinny jeans.

Here is a pic of the canvas shoes DS made for DD. They are not Tom's....it just happened to be the first shoe box I could grab from the closet for him to wrap them in. He wants to do another pair without painting the background because markers would not work on the blue paint so he had to do all of the art work with a paint brush which made it much more difficult. He says he can do a much cleaner/sharper picture with a marker.

For anyone interested in custom painted Tom's shoes ... Disney themes included of course ... you can shoot me a private message.

My daughter has an Etsy site and has done painted Toms for several satisfied customers. She also does Pokemon and Minecraft inspired paintings and drawings to order.
