Hi everyone — looking for some strategy advice from the pros here.

Hi everyone — looking for some strategy advice from the pros here.

Current May 9–17 trip (5 adults) is booked like this:
  • May 9–11: Beach Club Villas (2BR) ✅
  • May 11–13: Riviera (2BR) ✅
  • May 13–17: Bay Lake Tower (2BR, Theme Park View) ✅
  • Also waitlisted: Riviera May 9–11 (2Bed
What we REALLY want:
  • 4 nights Riviera (May 9–13)
  • 4 nights BLT (May 13–17
So basically eliminate Beach Club entirely and extend Riviera to the four nights

Constraints:
  • Not enough points to hold extra reservations while waiting
  • Don’t want to drop Beach Club and end up with nothing for those first 2 nights
  • Traveling with 5 adults, so minimizing moves matters a lot
  • Already checking availability manually multiple times a day
Questions
  1. At this point (under 30 days), is a Riviera 2BR waitlist for 5/9–11 realistic at all?
  2. Is it smarter to:
    • Keep the waitlist and hope
    • Drop the waitlist and aggressively stalk instead
  3. Any success stories with people grabbing Riviera last-minute for early May?
  4. Would you ever risk dropping Beach Club to try to piece together Riviera manually — or is that too dangerous
I feel like I’m stuck in that awkward zone where I can’t improve things without risking making it worse. Yeah not to mention that my family hates me because they agreed to moving once not three times..

Would love to hear how you’d play this.

I'm not sure I can add anything to what you've already done, other than just keep stalking the website and hope for the best. But think of all the free waterpark days you'll have LOL

That would be a bonus except that we're going in the middle of May and the benefit does not start till the end of May😥

I would absolutely not drop anything you have, as you may end up completely out of luck. The only thing you can do is aggressively stalk and try to modify your Beach Club reservation into a Riviera one if it becomes available. I don't think it will, though, at this point.

Since you're less than 30 days out and would risk holding, I think your only choice is to keep the waitlist (I assume it is set to cancel your BCV reservation if it comes through - if not, MS can modify the waitlist for you to make sure it does that).

It's 2 nights and I assume it is a dedicated 2 BR. I think there is a chance - not a great one, but a chance. If it were a lock-off, I'd probably give up.

One other thought. So, your waitlist is for 2 nights - 5/9 and 5/10. If you stalk and 5/10 came open at RIV, you could cancel the second night of your BCV stay and then use those points to quickly book the 5/10 night at RIV. Then have that merged with your other nights at RIV. That would be a little risky because that 5/10 at RIV could disappear in the time it took you to cancel the 5/10 at BCV, but you could try. The, I'd cancel the two night waitlist, and make it a one night waitlist set to cancel the one night at BCV.

Those are the only strategies I can think of.

Thank you for this. It is a two bedroom lock off unfortunately, however, I could put in a second waitlist for a dedicated, and at least we're not switching resorts if it comes in.
And I did see one night, before, but was afraid to pull the trigger, but you suggested that as well

Yeah, that’s tough. I’d be more afraid to pull the trigger on swapping the one night too with a lock-off. There could be people stalking or with waitlists on the 1 BR or studio half of it so it just makes it tough.

If you prefer not to switch resorts, then a second waitlist on the dedicated 2 BR wouldn’t be a bad idea.

OK, I will put in a waitlist for the dedicated. The only good part was that we have an early flight arriving and we were going to stay at the pool at beach club and that was the only positive of the whole arrangement, but I think not having to move resorts and just rooms may be a better idea.

My husband wanted to just stay in one resort the whole time and would've been fine at Saratoga, our home resort. but I kept saying it'll work out it always does. Well, it's not working out.😩
