Disney Magic - Dec 10, 2011 - Western Caribbean Cruise - Sun, Fun and Beaches!

Thank you so much for calling! I've been meaning to do that. So glad we didn't spend $50 seeing the Muppets this past weekend!

I like your screen name. Are you kids hockey players?

Jen

Jen,
I have a squirt minor AAA travel goalie. As I tell people, youth travel hockey isn't a sport, it is a lifestyle.

Am fine with 2:30 or whenever folks decide as a meet up time. I will be on vacation time!:woohoo:

Same for me! 2:30 in the Promenade Lounge sounds good. (Now to pull up a map and figure out where that is! :rotfl:)

ETA: Looks like the lounge is just down the hall from Parrot Cay. Perfect!

TY Goaliemom for listing the movies. Muppets!!! :thumbsup2 DH and I put a few other things on hold (packing, moving, selling our house, Christmas shopping, work) to finalize some cruise plans. I think we are going to book another cruise onboard and we have it narrowed down to Nov 2012 or Jan 2013.

A 2:30 (or whatever time works for everyone) meet in the Promenade Lounge would be just fine with us. We also have early dining and feel an after Sail Away Party meet would feel rushed.

It looks like everyone is really busy getting ready.
I haven't heard from MandyO at all and have sent her PM's.
We are doing Palo the second night. We did it on our last cruise on the Wonder. DH wasn't to sure, but he made sure I made reservations the night we were eligible.
We didn't see the Muppet movie either because I thought it would be on the cruise. DD is very excited about seeing that movie.

We're doing Palo on the second night too!

Jen

I have a squirt too! He's a Squirt B so no where near as much travel as you but I know what you mean. Hockey is definitely our life from October until April! I secretly love it though

Disney just called me and I was told our room 7625, is going to be refurbished during our cruise. They were going to give me another room by elevators on deck 7(7063) but then offered me a 9B on deck 2(2588) It would be a bigger room with a split bathroom and a porthole but below the galley and Lumiere's(also by laundry room). Having never cruised before, I wondered if the trade off of being higher on the ship is preferred or the upgrade of the split bathroom and porthole is better?

Any opinions from those of you who are veteran cruisers of Disney?

Not an expert, but we've been near elevators on other ships with no excessive noise - others may have different experience on Magic. Sounds like the move to 2388 would be quite a step down from your original, but the window might be nice if you didn't book one.

That is great. What position does your squirt play? My son will be so excited to have another hockey player his age in the clubs.

Can't wait to meet up!:yay:

I've been near the elevators before and I would surely take the porthole and split bathroom over one higher up.

I have a squirt and 2 mites too. They'd bring their hockey sticks if I let them! Oh, except they have NO IDEA we are going on a cruise in a week. Hee hee!

Welcome Alyssa! Not a dumb question at all. Disney Cruise Line requests that no shorts be worn to the main dining rooms. However, you will see plenty of children (and adults) that do so anyway. They will not be turned away and nothing will be said to them about their attire. It is up to you to decide if you will abide by DCL's request.

I've heard that you will see everything from jeans (and shorts) to tuxes and ballgowns on formal night. The best definition I've seen on these boards for formal night is "Wear the best clothes you brought."

Some folks will wear the same outfit for formal and semi-formal night. Again, it's up to you what you want to do. No one will blink if you wear the same thing to lighten your luggage.

Peg
thank you for answering this!! I am bringing pants for the boys but I don't want to overpack so I'm trying to be strategic...yet I don't want to be caught off guard either!

I think you would enjoy the split bath, bigger room and the porthole. We are also on deck two and have cruised on the Magic on deck 2 previously and loved our location. Good luck with whatever you choose. The most important thing is that you'll be on the ship! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

my name is Richelle and am from Boston. There is no place to buy disney pins around here. in the chaos of disembarkment, i forgot to buy some christmas pins for stocking stuffers! my kids NEVER left my side!!!!! i lost my license in the stateroom and they now give you a disembarkment time according to your meal time eg early or late. Soooooooo if anyone is willing to send me some christmas and pirate pins I will send you the money. I know this sounds like a scam..... but it's not. i am just a frazzled mom.:worship::laundy:

Just checked the weather today and its supposed to be scattered thunderstorms in Key West on Sunday. The weather only goes out 10 days but all the days leading up to Grand Cayman and Cozumel show rain as well......

EMullins 91 - we are staying at the AKL beforehand too!

Please let me know the status of MandyO, too.

FINALLY completed my on-line registration! Literally took a week!! Ended up calling the DCL people to fix my account - looks good now though.

Have a 1pm time, but the DCL staff person told me that as we are travelling via DCL transfer not to go by the on-line time but the time the DCL transfer tells me . . .so it will probably be earlier?!

I hope that if someone's room # changes at check that we find out so that the FEs go to the right place :confused3

So - the question earlier re names on the FEs - do we do that??? Like saying who it is from?!

This is great! The kids could stage a pickup game in the club. Those poor cast members! :rotfl:

We always put our names on our FE gifts and we have gotten FE gifts with names and some without. I like it when I know who the gifts are from so we know who to thank :thumbsup2

Looks like rain so far for our sail away, too. I'm just going to keep checking each day and hope the forecast changes.

I've been obsessively watching our forecast here in WI as well. The last thing I need is for our first real snow of the year to affect our flights! It's a little too good to be true that we don't have snow yet...but so far the forecast looks good!

Things to do this weekend:

  • Finish FE gifts
  • Buy sunscreen, seasick meds, and other misc. travel stuff
  • Find our backpacks in the basement
  • Finish making the girls' embarkment t-shirts
  • And probably a lot more I'm not thinking of!
