Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this question - I'm on this cruise, but new to the board!

This is what I found online:
Casual during the day, resort casual in the evenings with one formal night and one semi-formal night on a seven-night cruise. Swimwear, shorts and jeans are not allowed in the restaurants at dinner.


So - it seems a dumb question (!) but does this mean kids can't wear shorts any evening for dinner? And how different are semi formal and formal nights? I know from others cruises I've been on, people interpret these terms very differently, so I'm wondering what I should pack for both us and my boys! Thanks!

I am so excited about this FE exchange. This is our first time having a smaller # of cabins. We were able to "personalize" the gifts a little more. On our first cruise we had 67 cabins

Welcome Alyssa! Not a dumb question at all. Disney Cruise Line requests that no shorts be worn to the main dining rooms. However, you will see plenty of children (and adults) that do so anyway. They will not be turned away and nothing will be said to them about their attire. It is up to you to decide if you will abide by DCL's request.

I've heard that you will see everything from jeans (and shorts) to tuxes and ballgowns on formal night. The best definition I've seen on these boards for formal night is "Wear the best clothes you brought."

Some folks will wear the same outfit for formal and semi-formal night. Again, it's up to you what you want to do. No one will blink if you wear the same thing to lighten your luggage.

Just found these forums and can't stop thinking about our Disney Cruise. Myself, my wife and 7 year old daughter are taking our first Disney cruise. My wife and I have been on one short cruise 9 years ago and are pumped for this one. We live in South Florida so we have had the opportunity to go to WDW many times, but are very excited about this upcoming new Disney experience for us.

I've been wondering about this, too. In a few TR I've read it seems like most dis meets happen on the first day before Muster Drill. (That might be a good idea in case of any upgrades.) I'm really fine with any time/day/place though. Meeting all of you is part of what I'm looking forward to with this trip!

I spent all day reading my Passporter book and making lists of what I want to pack. I hope I don't forget anything!

What port excursions are you all doing? We're only doing the Pirate Encounter in the Cayman Islands and then a ruins tour in Cozumel. We wanted to keep it simple for the first cruise.

We're so excited!!! I have dreams of falling asleep on a deck chair with a book in my lap while my kids are having fun...without me!!

I know I haven't been on the thread very long, but I'd love to meet everyone too.

I agree with having the meet before the muster drill or just afterward and before the sail away party. This is good because of 1. any upgrades, changes for FE info. and 2. So the kids especially can see each other and have an opportunity to hang out more during the cruise.

Also: Jenster1974: can I get the names of your gang for the FE? I'm trying to personalize the gifts! MandyO: same thing please! A few more questions regarding FE - CitaPita it has your MIL listed... is that 2 adults in the room? EMullins91: 2 adults? Mareeld86: 2 adults? I think I'm good with everything else, but I don't want to give an adult gift to a kid or vice versa. And I can give the gifts without personalizing them, but they are so much better personalized!!! Thanks!!!

What would everyone think about meeting around 3:00 or 3:30? Any suggestions for a place to meet? Promenade Lounge or ? I was looking through our FE gifts and tagging them. Does anyone have a stateroom # for MandyO?

HannahNoahMommy: Yes there are 2 adults in our room! My mom (Gini) and I (Erin,20).

We are excited to meet everyone and dont have a preference on a meet time/day/place. We have never been on a disney cruise so we will leave it to you all to decide!

For the FE does everyone write who the gift is from or is it supposed to be a secret?

I have updated the Google document with any information recently provided. I know that we like to go to the spa to try and win a free spa service and the shopping show, but I can't remember when they are. I will try and find out more info.
It is harder to arrange meets with the scheduled arrival times for the terminal.

We have yet to do any excursions. We like to get off the ship, get the free stuff in each port, and do a little shopping. DH is an amateur photographer and he likes to get back to the ship when there are not a lot of people.

FREE STUFF???!!!! What is that about? I love free stuff!

Silly question, but I was reading last night about the soap and shampoo/conditioner on the ship. Should I bring my own or will they give you enough for the entire family for the entire cruise? I'd hate to be without but if I can save precious space while packing I'll leave mine at home.

I also heard about the spa give a-ways and wanted to be present to that as well. I heard it happens at 3pm.

I am trying to do rides from 4pm to 7pm that are not included in the party and go from there, so this map helps to show what rides are open during the party.
