My gift card was emailed to me. It's now invalid. When I saw that refunded the filler item I wasn't too upset but I looked at the refund more closely tonight and saw at the bottom they also refunded the gift card that was delivered within a couple hours of ordering it. I have not checked to see if my credit card has been refunded yet. I assume it has. Too bad. I received Ebates on the whole order.

I thought you only needed to order a filler item if you were trying to pay for a Target gift card with a Target gift card.

Just noticed Meijer has a digital coupon for $15.00 off when you buy 2 Mastercard gift cards. I don't know what denominations they have in store, but the coupon shows a $50 card. I know some of the activation fee would eat into that, but you should still come out ahead. This would stack well with the $5.00 mperk for every $50 in gc's. The coupon is good thru 12/17.

Hmmmm ... I'm now looking at it closer and the gift card was NOT cancelled. Just the dish soap. And no, I don't know why I added a filler except I needed the dish soap and I had originally planned to churn my target cards right away. Then I decided to wait to see if the "buy 2 gift cards get $5 Target card" deal would materialize.

Off to call Target.

Well, nearly an hour later and they are sending me another gift card. They "force closed" my $300 GC because I purchased it with other gift cards. They said that the new rule was that you could not purchase any gift cards with Target gift cards online. She said that she could send me a new card for $270 or simply refund the cards I used. I asked if she could issue another card for $30 since I was missing out on the 10% off and she is issuing a new $300 e-gift card instead.

Good thing I had time to sit on the phone for an hour. FWIW, Customer Service was VERY nice all around.

My was drained....proven stolen. Physical gift card, bought in store, CSA scratched the silver off the back to get the number. They are investigating. Apparently the thieves are using the cards in store on the mobile app. They're trying to figure out how the thieves are getting the access numbers.

I bet they went before the sale and got the GC numbers. That is crazy! Are they issuing another GC to you or are I getting a refund?

I should know by tomorrow. The silver was intact so it's difficult to know how they got the access number to put it on their phones. Peeling is possible but logistically hard unless they took a bunch of the cards home, did it there, and brought them back.

Actually, I just looked at the card I have...peeling the silver off and replacing it isn't possible, I don't think. They can track when and where the card was used, though, and view the surveillance cameras. I think they'll have a good chance of catching the people.

I'm not following what happened. If you didn't scratch off the back, how did you find out your card was drained?

ETA: Do you still have your receipt? My receipts show the card number that is being activated on it (but not the pin code) so I can match up the card and the receipt. Maybe the cashier did a slight of hand and swapped out your paid-for card for a blank? (Off to match up my cards and receipts ...)

The CSA scratchrd off the back so she could call and verify the card value (since the actual number of the gift card is kept under the silver.) The GSA (manager) had just had another person have the same thing happen to them the night before, so he made sure to note to the fraud department on the phone that it was a pattern.

Same here, I ordered the physical gift card and got the same exact email. Hopefully it shows up tomorrow for us both!

Update: they just called and said they would be mailing me a new card. I should get an email with tracking info soon.

This is a bummer about the target gc's it was the only reason I bought a 300.00 one, geez! I tried to use it and the same thing as above happened, the order was immediately cancelled I did get the balance back on my target card but I think it is silly, they are making money either way for goodness sake.

Thanks, I got mine in the mail too, and glad you did as well! I just went online to check it and it's fine too. I also plan to go to Target tomorrow to spend it.
