Disney Dream Room 7650

I am booked in Room 7650 on the Disney Dream. The least expensive regular balcony room that was available was 6146. I avoided it since it has a "mystery area" above, and I read reviews saying its balcony is obstructed. Room 7650 was the only other room available that was not next to an elevator, which I know would be noisy. It seemed that rooms were disappearing fast as I was on the phone with my TA, so I wanted to grab 7650 before it was gone and I'd be stuck with a room next to the elevator.

My question is, was this room a good choice? I do notice that it's located where the hallway takes a turn (just like 6146). Does that cause any issues? I assume it's better than being next to an elevator. I assume no noise issues since it has other staterooms above and below. I assume it's high enough to avoid the obstruction that 6146 supposedly has. What is the mystery area across the hall?

Thanks.

We wanted room 7650 for our cruise on the Fantasy but it was taken, so we settled for 7652. We LOVED the location, close (but not TOO close) to the aft elevators/stairs. We found that we used the stairs most of the time since we generally only had to go up or down a few decks. Room 7650 is not a connecting room, which is a plus as some people have stated that they've heard more noise in connecting rooms. I have to say, though, that we didn't hear any noise from our neighbors in 7652. I think it's just luck of the draw. We actually really liked that the room was just past the turn in the hall. Your room in particular benefits because there is an extra long wall perpendicular to your door, making it feel very spacious around the door. I may not be remembering clearly, but I think the entrance to the crew elevators and stairs is across the hall. In any case, we didn't have any issues with noise or excessive foot traffic. For our upcoming cruise, we're staying in 7650's equivalent on deck 8. We wanted 7650, but once again it was booked!

Fwiw 7650's balcony has the same obstruction as 6146's. It's those outer skinage panels every 6 cabins on the sides of the ship. BTW most feel it's moot, and some like it.

I see no more of a mystery area ABOVE 6146 as 7650. Both have cabins above and below. Now across the hall is another story, as both cabins have similar unknown spaces across the hall.

Given a choice I would choose deck 7 over 6 due to proximity to lifeboats, IMO.

Last Aug we had 7660 on the Fantasy--just down a few rooms from the one youre looking at

but we did have the "outer skin" obstruction--for the life of me I cant see

how people feel theres an obstrution:confused3

I measured the part that hangs over into the balcony and its a whole 9 inches!!!!

When I was looking at the page where someone went through all the trouble of numbering the outside of the ship (many thanks) I wanted that room 7660

and then I read about the obstruction and thought--oh no whats it going to be like

but we loved that room--we were closer to the elevator then you are but there was no noise

How'd you find the motion? We're booked in the same room except on the Dream and was just wondering how rocky.. We only have cruised mid-ship and only lightly swayed side to side, but had no issues.

I saw a post saying that 20-25% of the view from these rooms is obstructed. Is that really true? From this thread, it sounds like the obstruction is insignificant.

We've stayed in it and had no issue whatsoever. It did not decrease our enjoyment of the cruise or sitting out on the verandah. And the reduced cost due to the category was certainly a perk. I would stay in it every cruise if it were available...

we had no issues with motion at all being the room was near the aft

its across from the elevators-which we heard no noise from either

on our first cruise we were right in the front in the corner room 7006

we felt motion there but that wasnt even bad--more or less a gentle swaying

the obstruction was nothing like I said it was a whole 9 inches!!!!

what I like too about this room is you could look down to the water--the life boats werent in view--however you could look directly down into deck 5 balcony

we were on 7 but 6 is flush with 7

you will enjoy this room

But the room is not downgraded a category, it's Cat. 5C, just like all of the balcony rooms on Deck 7. Are you thinking of another room, or was it at one time downgraded?

I wonder why others say it was a 20-25% obstruction. Are they thinking of a different room?

I'm confused. If you look down, do you see the water, or do you see somebody's balcony on Deck 5?

The veranda cabins with greater than 5% obstruction are 7a's and others , not the category you mentioned.

Yes, cat 4e extended balconies are below these two cabins.
Here is a pic from deck 9 looking down, so you will be about 20 feet closer if on deck7, fwiw.

Another reason to choose the higher deck, 7, IMO.

HTH

How well will I be able to see the ocean from my room on Deck 7?

Very well. As well, if not better than some.

Are you able to view the photos in the links posted?

These pics should give answer all your inquiries.

Enjoy

Unless I am missing it, I don't see any photos showing the view from my specific room. And I'm confused, since people are contradicting themselves.

We were also in room 7650 on the Fantasy. I found it helpful to be at the "bump out" in the hallway, because its easy to find your room, and there's lots of space to put out your room service tray.

On the worst night motion-wise we heard a little creaking; our friend in 9004 (port side, deck 9. 3 rooms from the front) woke her husband at 1am, crying and afraid they were going to die.

Great room.

Beautiful views of the ocean! Yes, you could see on to the verandahs of people on deck 5, but I only noticed it when we were leaving port, and everyone was outdoors waving goodbye.

And the mystery area across the hall?...I seem to remember it being a housekeeping closet.

Still confused. Is there a good view of the ocean, or is it blocked by the verandah of the room below on Deck 5?

Does that cause a lot of noise?

I had a great time on the Disney Dream!! Will post a review later. I can confirm that the obstruction was extremely minimal, and that my wife and I both had a clear view of the ocean. Also, this room is one of the very few non-connecting verandah rooms that is not next to an elevator, so it is probably the best choice if you want a verandah in a quiet location and don't need or want a connecting room.

I made a typo in my original post: Room 6146 has a "mystery area" below (not above). Since I stayed in 7650, I could see 2 decks below, on Deck 5, there was an oddly shaped verandah which does not show up on deck plans, just forward of room 5650, which appeared to have a double sized verandah for some reason. So, there definitely is a mystery area below 6146. Anybody know what that mystery area is? Maybe part of the Oceaneer's Lab? Does that include a strangely shaped verandah? Or maybe an officer's stateroom? Remember, I avoided 6146 because I didn't know what was below.

I may not be remembering clearly, but I think the entrance to the crew elevators and stairs is across the hall.

I still don't know what was across the hall, but it didn't have an entrance near the room, and it was very quiet, whatever it was.

Hardly felt any motion at all.

While I agree that the paneling does not decrease enjoyment of the verandah, there is not a reduced cost. It is Cat. 5C, just like the other verandah rooms on that deck.
