I know... I know... go with the flow... Maybe DCL will work out all of the kinks on the first 6 Inaugural cruises! ;)
:lmao: :thumbsup2 For those of us on the B2B cruise, our name should be the 8th Inaugral cruise.

I got the letter in the mail as well. Dining time is 6:00pm and showtime is 9:00pm, I sure hope my DH can stay up that late for the show, otherwise I will be going alone!

You know, I was thinking about the cruise and it not being the first actual sailing...and I think that you will be glad you are doing this one and not the first few.

I've been on a TA & Christening cruise before, and it was quite crazy...I then went on the "first" sailing right after, and it was smoother, and more fun! On the cruises prior to the Maiden, not everything will be fully functioning...in fact, I was told that there is a good possibility that some things won't be open. And just think of the PARTY on the Maiden, with all of the excited guests!

If I were you, I would look at it as the Maiden being the first REAL voyage of the Disney Dream...the first time the new, gorgeous ship will be full of devoted Disney guests that planned and dreamed for months if not years about being on the first voyage. To me, this is the first voyage...the others are testing it out...like test driving a car, but the guests on the first voyage are the "owners":)

I'm not saying things won't still be a little crazy or disorganized, because there is a good chance of that...but Disney does things better in general so I'm guessing they'll do this well too.

Can you put Ira and Peg down for the BBQ? I would love to be there, if you need anything, let me know.

Shattered my right leg and knee last Thursday and was worried about the cruise, but the doctor said doable, but just not going to do all I had planned. The cruise is my excuse to work hard at my PT.

Peg

Got you on the list - do not worry about bringing anything - it sounds like you have enough to worry about with your leg - Pixie dust for a fast recovery!

Andy and I would like to attend the BBQ. We're staying at AK before the cruise but I don't yet know if we'll have a car to get things.

Got you on the list also, don't worry about bringing anything.

I also remember that Disney had a few problems on the early voyages of the Magic, maybe they will have gotten all the kinks worked out for our voyage!

No letter here either Georgie!

Have a great day all!

No letter for us in NJ yet. Maybe it's because we are GTY! :rotfl2:

Q - Are they assigning you to a show (i.e. with tickets... like dining) and not allowing you to sit with your friends who may be on another dining rotation and set for another show? Sure hope not!

I know... I know... go with the flow... Maybe DCL will work out all of the kinks on the first 6 Inaugural cruises! ;)

They are assigning a show, it was listed on the letter. How it gets enforced (if at all) isn't specified.

On the EB Panama Repo (during the Ally & AJ show), they did it with hand stamps - but I guess that was a one off.

So.....as this gets closer, and as I've seen DCL list it both ways....which is it?

Maiden, or Inaugural?

Why? There's door magnets to be made :woohoo:

Andy

This is from Wikipedia

"The maiden voyage of a ship, aircraft or other craft is the first journey made by the craft after shakedown."

So, if you look at it this way, the maiden voyage is the first time the ship leaves the harbor after the shakedown cruises.

Now, I personally consider any cruise prior to ours as a "shakedown cruise" since the general public could not go on the DCL webpage and book them.

So, using that logic, our cruise is the maiden voyage.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Ken

Personally I like "maiden" instead of "inaugaral" because it's easier to spell :lmao:

Andy and I will be at DVC Vero Beach for a few days prior to the cruise. Anyone else going to be there, want to do a pre-cruise get-together?

Blessings! Lin

No letter received in Ohio yet. We are 8GTY as well so they can assign you show times but not cabins yet.:confused3 I like the GTY because I believe the upgrade cabin dream is still alive.:worship:

We are gold members but we were not planning on doing Palo or Remy for dinner since we did not want to miss the restuarants and did not know the rotation. I am sorry that some of are new cruise friends were disappointed in not getting reservations. I did book a couple of spa treatments for DW & me.

I also got a great rate for non-stop flights from Columbus to Orlando (MCO) for $ 189.00 roundtrip. We will be staying at Bay Lake Towers. Will probably do the rental car so we can avoid Magical Express and get to OKW for the get together and then on to the port nice and early on Wednesday.

I love it when a plan comes together.............. :cool1:

I like Maiden Voyage too! They called the first official sailing of the Disney Magic the Maiden Voyage of the Inaugural year. That way Disney had Inaugural voyages the whole first year! :rotfl2:

Regardless of the number of shakedown cruises before ours, we are looking forward to this cruise and being with friends and making new ones! :woohoo:

We are still waiting for our letter, and hoping there is flexibility on the show "assignment". We're first seating, but dining at Palos one night at 8:00 or 8:30... so we will need an earlier show.

So very glad it's Friday!

No letters in Canada yet... still in the 11B GTY status... hoping for the outside cabin, but am happy to be on the maiden voyage!

All plans are in place ... got the plane taken care of ... got my pre and post accommodations booked and paid for ... got my rental car through points, got my Universal tickets through points (can't wait to see the Harry Potter area). Thinking of not booking any excursions. I've never been to Nassau, is it easy to get off the boat and walk around??? Is Senor Fron's near the port? Also, what is the drinking age in Nassau? My daughter is 20.

I worked a shakedown at a casino once, before it opened to the general public...I was a casino dealer in a previous life :rotfl:. It was fun, but chaotic!

Also, for those of you waiting for letters for show time, look on your reservation! I see our show time right next to the dining assignment.

I've never been to Nassau, is it easy to get off the boat and walk around??? Is Senor Frog's near the port? Also, what is the drinking age in Nassau? My daughter is 20.

It's easy to walk around in Nassau. Just watch those cars! I think Senor Frog's is right at the end of the first street you come to once you are through the "Welcome Center". Turn right and walk all the way to the end. You'll pass the Straw Market on your left... keep going to the end and you will run right into it.

Maybe because we are GTY, I can see no assignments other than my category on my online reservation. :confused3

Ken, you are spot on.............

This is the Maiden Voyage.........

Can you see your dining time? It should be next to that, not next to the cabin number...I guess GTY could have something to do with it but I don't know why it would, since the cabin number doesn't impact your dining rotation.

Edited to add...I just logged in like a client (not as a TA) and I cannot see dining, just call them if you don't want to wait for the letter, they have been assigned so you should be able to find out your showtime by calling.

This is funny....I am a Mary Jane as well and guess what my last name starts with....yep...a "K"!!! MJK...hubby is also MJK.

Drinking age in Nassau is 18 so no worries there...most ports are 18 except CC where DCL enforces their 21 years policy like the ship.

We have our plane, pre nights at Wilderness Lodge and transportation taken care of so are pretty set.

No show letter in New York yet either.....we are linked with several cabins and some of our friends who are on late dining with us have the 5 pm show??? We are late dining with 7PM show....they want to go to the show the same time as us. Will have to see what happens onboard!!!

Two weeks from today we leave for the 10-30-10 Halloween cruise on the Magic....will try to find out any new news about the MV onboard!!

MJ

got our letter today 6:00 dinner/ 5:00 show:confused3

Don't know how firm they will be about this but was told by a CM that you are required to swipe your KTTW card at your appointed show time...if you want to attend a show other than the one you are assigned, there will be a stand by area in the event that there are seats available...and then it's first come first serve I guess:confused3
