We've only got one color change today, but it's a great one!
I'm very excited to announce our first member of Epcot Pink ... sophy1996!
Looking for something pink at Epcot? If you stop at the Japan Pavilion to pick a pearl, you may get a pink surprise!
Japan's Pick-a-Pearl allows you to pick an oyster (for a fee) and keep the pearl inside. Pink is one of the many colors of pearl that you may find in your oyster - along with white, yellow, blue, and black. The pearl you take home (pink or otherwise) can be put in a setting to make a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Has anyone on the team done Pick-a-Pearl? What color did you get?
And now, back to our daily birthday.
Today we’re taking a break from birthdays to celebrate a very special anniversary. On July 13, 1925, Walter Elias Disney and Lillian Marie Bounds celebrated their wedding.
Walt and Lilly celebrating their 30th anniversary at the not-yet-open Golden Horseshoe at Disneyland
Lily and Walt met when she was hired to work in the ink and paint department at Disney Studios. They were married in 1925 in Lilly’s hometown of Lewiston, Idaho. Together they raised two children, Diane Marie Disney Miller (1933-2013) and Sharon Mae Disney Lund (adopted, 1936-1993). Walt and Lilly remained married until his death in 1966, and their partnership helped shape Disney as we know it today. In fact, it was Lily who named Mickey Mouse - Walt had originally named him Mortimer!
Happy 90th anniversary, Walt and Lilly!
