Disney Daily Birthdays – July Exercise Challenge

365/900 Walking. I love all the celebrating, birthdays and anniversaries. I look forward to a WDW vacation, where everyday is Happy Walt Disney World Day! It became a family tradition to celebrate our family time on vacation and carry it over to fun days of gratitude for our time together throughout the year at home.

I'll be updating the totals in the first post later tonight, and I know we'll have some amazing color changes to announce with our 3 birthdays tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure to stop by and wish a happy birthday to 2 of our members...

Happy Birthday @lisah0711 and @swissfamilyrobinson ! I hope you both had a birthday filled with exercise and fun!

And happy anniversary @pix13dust !

(Some of you may have noticed that I made a mistake on the post earlier ... which is what I get for glancing at my spreadsheet instead of looking carefully. It's corrected now!)

I'm back from my few days away, and I've got lots of color changes to announce! But first, thank you to everyone for checking your minutes for me! I did my own checking as well, and it looks like everything is right ... for now at least.

Congrats to our new members of Disney's Animal Kingdom Orange:

If you visit Disney's Hollywood Studios during the holiday season and enjoy the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights, you're already looking for something purple - the famous purple cat!
DSC05332.JPG

Every year, visitors to the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights search for the hidden purple cat. But did you know that the purple cat was not originally intended to be part of the Christmas display? When the lights were originally packed up and given to Disney, a purple cat from the Osborne Family's Halloween light display was accidentally packed up as well. Since then, Disney has changed where they put the cat and return visitors love to try to find where the cat is hidden!

We've got three birthdays to celebrate, so let's start with Friday's and work our way forward.

First we'll head to Disneyland Paris, where we celebrate the July 10th, 2014 opening of Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy (known in English as Ratatouille: The Adventure) at Walt Disney Studios Park.

This motion-based trackless 4D dark ride shrinks guests down to the size of Remy (the memorable rat from Ratatouille) and takes you into the kitchen of Gusteau's famous Parisian restaurant ... where you are being chased by Chef Skinner! The ride is located in Toon Studio and is the newest addition to Walt Disney Studios Park.
Happy birthday, Ratatouille: The Adventure … or as they say in French, bon anniversaire!

Next we head over to California to celebrate the birthday of The Disney Gallery at Disneyland Park.

First opened on July 11th, 1987, in New Orleans Square (above Pirates of the Caribbean), the Disney Gallery features artwork related to the history of Disneyland. The first exhibit, called The Art of Disneyland, ran from 1987 to 1997 and featured art and scale models of various attractions from the history of Disneyland, including a scale model of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
The Disney Gallery closed at its initial location in 2007 (this location became the Disney Dream Suite). A new location opened October 2, 2009 on Main Street USA.
Happy Birthday!

Today’s birthday is an exciting one for my fellow runDisney enthusiasts. Today we celebrate the 70th birthday of runner (and runDisney consultant) Jeff Galloway!

Jeff ran cross country and track in high school, college, and graduate school. In 1972, he was chosen to represent the US on the Olympic team in the 10K event. He was the first winner of the Peachtree Road Race (now the largest 10K in the world), set the a 10-mile road race record of 47:49 in 1973, and in addition to continuing to run races of all lengths, serves as a consultant to dozens of races of all sizes. Jeff creates the training plans for runDisney races, and can be seen speaking at runDisney event expos.
Happy Birthday, Jeff! We hope to see you participating in runDisney events for many years to come!

Happy belated anniversary, pix13dust! :bride::groom:

Love the purple cat! I read this year they moved the location from week to week to make it harder to find.

And I love, love, love Jeff Galloway! He is running his 200th marathon today in Missoula MT which is not too far from here to celebrate his 70th birthday today -- we should all be so lucky!

66 minutes with running group brings me to 642/1000. Love seeing all the color changes! Keep up the good work all! :yay:

I was out for nearly 7 hours today, but much of that was waiting for buses, in museums, etc. so I will conservatively say 90 minutes of walking.

Thousands of people got their minutes today in the British 10k London. The course went through much of central London, with lots of different charities represented among the runners and the spectators. I stood by Charing Cross where the South London Jazz Band set up and really enjoyed cheering the runners on.

832/1000

This trip sure has boosted my numbers, but it's back home tomorrow.

After an unplanned rest day yesterday(ended up being on my feet at work for 11+ hours, my legs still hurt boo) I did an express calorie blaster and a bicep/tricep super set workout for 40 minutes. Going to have to do another workout later today according to my schedule(they plan some workouts to be done at least 4 hours after the first part of the daily plan)

530/1400

:woohoo:for a new color! Hope that foot feels better soon. :flower3: Is it possibly time for a new pair of shoes?

Thanks! And a belated Happy Birthday!! :cake:

I have no idea what the foot issue is, it is not the running shoes. It seems to be an issue from having a wrong foot position. It might have been originally caused by wrong shoes, but I don't understand why it is not going away. Unfortunately appointments with a orthopedic doctor are difficult to get and I am leaving on vacation soon. No chance to see a doctor before... But I am afraid that I might be halfway in my vacation and suddenly can't talk anymore. Really don't know what to do... It feels good unless I make a certain type of step. I am doing lots of foot stretching and strengthening right now to hopefully get it more under control. I had it earlier this year and rest for a long time made it go away, now it is slowly creeping up again. I don't think it is a stress fracture as for that it is not painful enough. At least I hope it isn't one!!

Anyway, I got some more exercise in and am now at:

255/800

I will be the first to admit that I don't know anything about the medical system in Germany, but ... is there any way you could get an emergency appointment? If you're really worried about not being able to walk, you should see someone before your trip!

A day late, Happy Birthday lisah0711 & swissfamilyrobinson & Happy Anniversary pix13dust!!! Hope you all had a great day!!!

The Ratatouille ride sounds fun, hopefully I make it to DLP someday.
And Happy 70th to Jeff Galloway!!! If it weren't for Jeff & RunDisney promoting run / walk I don't think I'd be out there running.

84 minutes run / walk this morning.

sophy1996 safe travels today! :goodvibes

Magdalene so sorry about the foot issue. They are frustrating and scary and take forever to get better because you have to keep walking on them all the time. Sending oodles of pixiedust and good thoughts that it heals up quickly and before vacation. pixiedust:

20 minutes of walking brings me to 662/1000.
