Steph, DS was in a portable for third grade. The kids out there got sick much less often because of the separate heating/AC.

DD was in a portable when she was in sixth grade and just entering middle school. We really liked it. There were 6 or 8 rooms in the portable and they stayed out there except for lunch and specials (art, music, etc.) It kept them apart from the crowded hallways and upper classmen.

From the talk I hear, teachers like to be in the portables.

Our high school is starting major renovations this year. 21 classrooms will be moved out to portables for the spring semester and into the following years. Parking is already a mess.

So, basically, we have always had them here.

Steph - I can certainly relate to those Mama Bear instincts!!!! I've never had personal experience with portables although I know air conditioning won't be as big an issue in N.E. as it is in OK for Melissa! Heat, on the other hand, is an important prerequisite!!!

As I've been thinking about it, my feeling is it will be a great transition from elementary school. I'll bet they'll be in the main building for stuff like gym, music or art as well as lunch.

Keep us posted, I'm sure it will be just great for him!

Hi, I'm Back! Had a really great time at the Jersey Shore! Weather was perfect!!
Spent Friday with Gina on the beach, it was so nice to finally meet her! We'll definately have to do it again next year!:)

Happy Anniversary to Bernie and Sharon!
Happy Birthday Steph!

Sandy, ((((((((Hugs)))))))))). I'm so sorry. That was cold.

Welcome Back to everyone returning from WDW!:Pinkbounc

Lars, Love the Picture!! Have you started a scrapbook for them yet? I displayed all 3 of mine at their Graduation parties.

Now I need to catch up on everything.

Elaine - Sorry to hear of your continued Internet troubles!!

M65 - Glad to hear the good news on your Mum's progress, hope it continues.

Sandi - Nice to see you back

CS - Good Luck for your studies

Sorry to anyone I've missed, I had 10 pages to catch up on and I'm just too shattered to do it properly!!

Well, thanks for the good wishes on the house front... basically we phoned the next day and put in a bid but the vendor (I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but she's my age and I know her from school (high school: ages 11 to 16) but only vaguely). Anyways, she told us someone had already bid higher than that but that they were in a chain so if they can't sell their property she would rather go with someone else.... the upshot of all this is that we are still in with a chance *if* we sell our house ASAP. She is on holiday until Sunday so we spent this Sunday and Monday and some extra work was put in from my Mum and I this morning to get the house up to scratch to sell (there were a few little hardware type jobs like painting etc as well as general tidying) and it looks great! So DBF and I put a sign up in the garden this morning and.... we've had three people around all ready!!! LOL, I really am surprised and delighted with the response and so of course expecting more tomorrow :) If you'd like to see some piccies of my house I've put them up here for possible buyers to go take a look (we put the web address on the sign also).
Important: If you go look, could you PM me or post on here that you did? Only I've put a counter on there and want to keep track of how many people actually go to look so we can know how many ppl are interested! Thanks!!

Sorry for the long update, I'll try to be around a bit more frequently from now on, now that the house is tidy! Please cross your fingers for me that we sell this house this week and get the one we want!

Thanks, best wishes to all,
Gaspode

Hiya,

Sorry for two posts in a row!

Just forgot to ask, and this is a strange one but.... someone from California called my house phone this morning. I didn't get to it on time and they didn't leave a msg.... wasn't any of the Angels by any chance?! I have no clue who in CA could possibly have my home number so this is really puzzling me and DBF!!! I've tried looking the number up on the white pages etc but it is unlisted

Odd.... wonder if they will call again tomorrow :)

Cya,
Gaspode

Evening all :)

I wish I had something to add to all the school talk... but I'll just wish you all the best and hope the school year is a good one for the kids as well as the parents :)

Welcome back Sandi! So where are the pictures?? ;)

Melissa, I went to your site and looked at your house!!! Very nice looking! I wish you all the best. And nope, I didn't call this morning to you.

Well I went to PT. The guy is very hopeful and so am I. He is looking to try to get me pain free in about 4-5 weeks  I am not sure that will happen but I am very very hopeful. I have excersizes that I have to do every two hours and a pillow thingie I have to have on all my chairs. Gotta work on the posture too. He's nice and pretty cute so no real complaints here :)

Gaspode-I looked at your house site!!! I love the fire palce & floors! You should have no trouble selling it fast!! Good Luck

Melissa, what Lars said. (Except I like the fire PLACE.)

Great pic of the kids, Lars ... sorry the trip to school didn't go as well !

M65 - so glad to hear of your mom's improvement and determination ..... hugs to you and continued good thoughts
and prayers for her .....

So what kind of fun stuff do you have up your sleeve Gina !

Steph - hope the portable classroom works out ok for Patrick ..... hugs for Mom !

Hope the PT does the trick for you E ! Cute therapist certainly can't hurt !

Have a good evening everyone !

I peeked at the pictures too Melissa and I love your house....especially the beautiful hardwood floors!!! Fingers are crossed that you can sell it quickly and that the other house works out too!!!

Glad to hear therapy went well E. I have trouble with my back and neck due to some compressed discs and went to therapy for a while. and an ergonomic (I know, big words!) review of my workspace determined I needed a better chair.

Glad you had a wonderful time at the Shore Sandi, and that you got to hang out with Gina.

I'm gearing up for my first official DIS meet this Saturday at Alex's house in Plymouth. Lars said she'd be around so I'm hoping to call her. Anybody else????

Cute and very nice PT guy does help ;) Seriously he is very nice and that matters most to me. He explained a lot and didn't push at all. I'll go back again on Thursday. In the mean time I am going to do the excersizes and hopefully get them in every 2 hours. I have to do my last set for the night in a few.

Gail, believe it or not I will be home on Saturday... feel free to call me :)

Oh and I am heading off to bed... wanted to wish y'all a good night :)

Great pic Laura!!

I can't keep up with you people...lol

Hiya

Elaine - Good luck for the therapy :)

You are all too kind about my house!! The lounge is my favourite room... we have only recently done it out like that, I'll have to dig some pictures out of what it looked like before - I hated it!! It was too much like a pub LOL... really dark colours and too old fashioned for my taste.... anyways, not counting those of you who posted that you checked out the website, it is 10am here and 7 ppl have already been to look at it today! No more phone calls yet but I'm thinking we'll have a few more ppl around this evening :)

Oh yeah and I forgot to say Lars, thanks for the pic of the twins - they looked so happy!!!

Cya,
Gaspode

Hiya,

Lookie here, two posts in a row again!!!

It can't be only 20 days til I go to Romania?!!? That's crazy LOL

Anyways, I've just put up a photo of our nice gravelled garden (neither Jon nor I are big gardeners you see) on my webpage but thought it wouldnt' hurt to post it here so that those of you who have been to the page and let me know you've been won't have to do all that again!

If ppl haven't been to the page and want to see my housey do feel free to take a look but please post here to let me know or PM me to let me know so I can discount you from the counter! The link is in my post on the bottom of page 15 of this thread....

Right, here you go: (PS: Its my Mum's car and that is my Mum herself on the right. Also, that black bit you can see amongst the slate is now covered with more slate :) It's just the weed control matting!!)
