Steph, DS was in a portable for third grade. The kids out there got sick much less often because of the separate heating/AC.
DD was in a portable when she was in sixth grade and just entering middle school. We really liked it. There were 6 or 8 rooms in the portable and they stayed out there except for lunch and specials (art, music, etc.) It kept them apart from the crowded hallways and upper classmen.
From the talk I hear, teachers like to be in the portables.
Our high school is starting major renovations this year. 21 classrooms will be moved out to portables for the spring semester and into the following years. Parking is already a mess.
So, basically, we have always had them here.
