DISing Weightloss Club

I find it so hard to keep on this diet when I have bronchitis! I had to have a regular pop this morning to "coat" my stomach to stop me from getting sick everywhere. Sorry if that was TMI. But being the great person I am lol...I decided to go and stick it out. I felt so sick all day long and battling a fever didn't help.

So when I am sick I try to stick to a diet but it is hard. I hope everyone had a good weekend! And welcome to the newbies!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone, I guess my first question is getting past these people at work...how do you keep up the will power at work, when all everyone else wants to do is order mexican? It's hurting the budget too...I know to brown bag it, shoot, I got probably 5 frozen thingies sitting in the freezer there, that I took for lunch, then found out someone was ordering something that "sounded good" HELP!! I need to find my will power!!!!

I leave all my money at home, and my emergency cc in my car. Then, I have to eat what I brought. Hope it helps.

It's been so great for me to know that I'll have to come here on friday and let you all know how much I lost...it helps me resist temptation because I so want to be able to be proud of myself at the end of the week...

I had to put exercise in my work calendar...I sit on my bum all day and would just keep working until the end of the day unless a reminder pops up telling me to get up and move...that helps me. And, like someone else said, I don't bring money to work...that evil vending machine is too close for comfort. :rotfl:

Welcome to Lynn and Christie!!

I just got back from my weekend trip to NC and probably gained all my lost weight back. I actually did better than I would have if not thinking about weighing in though. I did have dessert when it was offered but in moderation. Then, when I got home this morning I threw away the rest of the sweets I had in my travel bag. I know that this thread has helped me to be more conscious with my eating decisions. I still haven't gotten back to exercise but plan to when tax season is over.

Pretty good day! I did my first day on Couch to 5K and it wasn't too bad. Those last five minutes were tough, though. So far so good with the eating, but right now is the worst time of day for me. I am starving and supper is not ready. Ten more minutes, he says!!! I am going to eat good portions and then stop!! I will!

Jengi4 that is great advice to put exercise on the calendar. I do that and I never miss a day. It also helps to meet someone at the gym or when going for a walk. I have found three people to exercise with, one is a walker in my neighborhood. We go once a week. Two others are friends I meet at the gym on different days. For some reason, I won't exercise consistently for myself :confused: , but if I know someone is expecting me - I will be there. My husbands jokes and makes fun of the fact that I have all these people, but that way, if one of them cancels, I always have another "date" set up. :rotfl: Plus, it makes me feel better that I am helping motivate someone else. You know?

bouncycat I totally know what you mean about willpower. I don't have the answer to that. I have so much trouble with portion control. I wish they could make a pill for that.:lmao: I just love, love to eat! :headache:

Yes, well if they'd quit making the food that's bad for you taste so good, and vice versa, it wouldn't be so bad!! To ama, I have my account at the bank I work for, so money is at my disposal, I can leave the check book, the atm card, everything at home, and STILL be able to get money, they make it so dang easy!! I'm on vacation this week, so It'll be a little easier, I did weigh myself this morning, and I'm not as bad off as I thought, I was only at 176. We did our "happy weight" at work one day, and mine is 136, so only 40 lbs to lose, not 50, but it's still a huge goal. Anyways, keep up the good work all, and knowing that I have someone to "talk" to, helps!! Let me know when ya'll are in the parks, I can go meet ya on the weekends! I think I"m going this weekend, haven't decided just yet. TTYL!!
 
Got in 30 min hike today! Yay! Ate about 1400 calories too...
 
I have to figure out a way to make myself feel not hungry after eating. Today for lunch I packed a sandwich and a 100 calorie pack. I thought this was a pretty good lunch. By the time I came home I was so hungry I was cranky and unbearable. My mom told me to eat something but I didnt want to since dinne would only be like 30 minutes or so away. So i settled for a cereal bar but didnt want that because that would take away from the portions I allow myself at dinner...AGGHH...lol...I wanna scream just thinking about how frustrated I was! I think it doesn't help my body is sick so I should probably be staying home and resting! But I can't allow myself to do that for some reason. (I ve never really been the kind of person to call off work unless I am near death) So I took some cough medicine just now and will probably be passing out soon enough! I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow!!

First of all.. I think when you are sick, you need to worry more about what your body needs and not losing weight. Make sure you are getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs to get better!

Second of all, how much do you eat for dinner? What is your calorie limits? I can't imagine having a sandwich for lunch and 100 calorie pack takes away that many calories... even a PB&J which has a ton of calories (something like 450 or so depending on how much PB you like). What are you eating for breakfast?

I'd say consider eating more high in fiber and protein for lunch. This will help you stay fuller longer! But if you throw in veggies and fruit you can eat SO MUCH for such little calories.

I believe that if you are "starving" when dinner rolls around you are more likely to eat far more than you need too.

Like I told Lynn, if you pack a snack to eat sometime between lunch and dinner.. like on your drive home.. and something like a banana... it really helps you!

I think fiber is the key to feeling full. When I eat stuff that has lots of fiber, it helps me feel like I've eaten more.

Those 100 calorie packs seem to just make me hungrier!

Splurging once in a while isn't going to hurt you in the long run (I say this because last week I ate McDonald's one day and didn't lose any weight)... And I do believe depriving yourself of these foods is what makes so many people fail when it comes to losing weight!

Just put in a few extra minutes each day this week you work out.. maybe five more minutes... :)

But the biggest thing when eating to other foods is to watch the portions. I know when it comes to Chinese... I go nuts! I get my General Tso's, then I have to have an Egg Roll and Pork Fried Rice and lastly Crab Ragoons. It really adds up fast. I have a hard time controlling myself with food like this! So you aren't the only one Scott! (I have a love for Chinese and Mexican!)

Today is hard. I went to the gym in the early morning and just didn't feel like I had any steam....not the most vigorous workout today. :confused: And, I just feel extra hungry today. :scared: I have a late lunch meeting. Hopefully, I will be able to put the breaks on. I think I am just going to NOT take even 1 piece of bread. I hate it when they bring the bread to the table. Sometimes I'll just say to myself that I will have just 1 and then I cannot stop! :headache: Maybe if I don't even start it will be better....

I am becoming slightly obsessed with what I eat! I'm so afraid I'm eating the wrong thing since my goal is so close. ( only 57 more days until my trip!) I'm thinking of changing my goal to losing 2 pounds a week, instead of the big goal of 15 lbs. before the trip. The I can take it a week at a time. Does taht make sense? Is anybody else obsessed with eating just the right thing? (Or is it just another one of my many neurosis?)

Not such a good day for me either. Between starting to come down with some sort of sickness and being stressed out with work, I've been eating all day. I was doing really well for a while just being aware of what I eat but today I just felt like I didn't care. I realize this happens to me when I get overtired, stressed, sick, etc. I didn't eat anything too terrible but just constant eating throughout the day. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Your goals are a bit high, and I think you will end up not losing as much weight as you want, BUT if you stick to working out and eating well, you will LOOOOOOOK SOOOOOO much better! Not to mention feel better. But looking and feeling better is better than the actual weight itself.

Don't obsess too much over eating. Check out what I eat, I eat a lot and some junk! Limiting yourself will not really help you in the long run! It can cause you to fail. It does with so many people.

I'll tell you a story.. I went to a very strict low fat diet and my hair started to fall out! It was bad.

Just remember you can come here or to any of us if you ever need to talk, want advice etc.

Now I've been up late enough!





As for myself.. I did a 20 minute hike today. I don't have an exact count of my calories today... but it's under my 1500 I'm sure of it.
