:thanks: to HeatherSue and I forget who it was who also posted a similar dress for the inspiration!!
It's so cool to see the dress in action!! I love that she got so much extra attention from everyone! She looks so pretty!

Aimeeg also made a similar dress, but I can't remember if she ever posted it! Hers had the split skirt in front with a sheer fabric underneath.

Heather, everything looks great! I love Corey and Henry's outfits!:rotfl:

I took Megan in for her check up and she has grown three inches this year! :scared1: No wonder all the stuff I made for her in September is hopelessly short!
WHY is everyone laughing at those spiffy outfits? :snooty:

Three inches?! Wow, that's a lot for a 5 year old!!

That is just too cute. Very imaginative.
We had our trip last week. Had a great time. We didn't tell DD til the morning of that we had reservations at CRT. (OH, hence mommy making the Cinderella dress. :rotfl: )

The step sisters, predicably, loved to hate it. I was kicking myself- we had the beads to go with it, forgot them in the hotel. Of course the one sister commented at least she wasn't wearing her beads. Lady Tremaine told the sisters to stand back, the dress was likely to fall apart due to its shoddy construction... DD thought this whole exchange hysterical (and reminded the sisters who got the prince in the end, lol)

She had a great conversation with Cinderella about the dress. C. told her she was going to be sure to show the picture the photographer took to her friends the mice because she knew they would love it. It was so cute, when we got our package, DD goes "I hope they remembered to print that other one for the mice to see!"

The unexpected Disney magic that day was actually at the Judges Tent waiting for Mickey! A CM complimented DD on her dress, told her she looked just like Cinderella, etc. Had we seen Cinderella yet (no, but CRT for lunch). I asked her if she knew if the mice might be out somewhere later. She went to check, but couldn't really find an answer. Started asking DD who she had seen, who she hadn't.... short version of this, she ended up taking DD to the front of the line for Donald/Goofy/Pluto. Then to Pooh/Tigger/Darby. And then gave her a front of the line pass for Ariel! (that line was an hour long- no way was I waiting, lol) Not quite an official "dream" but a definite bit of pixiedust: from Angelica in MK that day!! I like to think at least it had something to do with the dress. ;)

I love it. I hope that Jenna gets that much attention when she wears hers. Your DD looks so cute in her pink dress.

I finally finished my scallloped skirt:

th_DSC00438.jpg

th_DSC00439.jpg

I just need a top now. I am thinking of doing the simply sweet halter with the empir waist and adding an little skirt peice to the bottom and mabye a ruffle, and mabye a peasant blouse to go under it in case it is cool. I would do the halter in the purple and the peasant in the green. The other option woul be a pesant type blouse with and empire seam and an aline bottom attached from the purple with a green sash(like that great peter pan siloutte top that has been CASED).What do you guys think??
Love that skirt!!!

Bias Tape is so much fun! :cutie:

The trick is to have the wider side under whatever you are sewing. That way you will not miss it. :)
Maybe I'll try it someday.;)

I hope we can meet up too! Let us know where you will be when. :thumbsup2
Here's my rough plan:
Sun May 4th land at MCO at 12:43, ME to Pop. I made Pop T's. DD says I get to pick the first ride because it is my birthday trip but she wants me to pick Test Track so I guess we'll head to Epcot. I was thinking of heading to MK to ride BTMRR to get her ready for Monday.

Monday May 5th AK for early entry. She'll be wearing a store bought Tigger safari T. She wants to try Everest. We have a 10:30 ADR at Tusker House.

Tuesday May 6th. She'll wear Pooh A-line dress. Crystal Palace 8:05am. Dinner at California Grill at 5:30pm.

Wednesday May 7th-Studios. She'll wear Cars outfit. 11:00am ADR at Sci Fi Dine In. Dinner at 6:10pm at Garden Grill.

Thursday May 8th. Epcot-she'll be wearing Nemo outfit. 10:55am ADR at Cape May.

Friday May 9th. MK-she'll wear Buzz outfit.

Saturday May 10th start at Studios for AP preview of Toy Story Mania then go to Epcot. ME bus back to MCO around 3:30.

Would LOVE to meet up with you guys!!!

I finished Lydia's Kennedy Space Center outfit today. She picked out all the fabrics and the pattern. :)

Awesome!!!!

Thank you! Your wish is my command!

Beautiful!!!!!!!!

I don't blame you for wimping out on that fabric. It was pretty hard to sew & I even broke down & used pins which I never do. I never did get my shirt to fit the way I wanted it to. I was told it looked fine (and Minnie seemed to like it), but I wasn't happy with it.

How cute!!!!

Ok folks im a newbie here, I dont sew at all but hoping to get some ideas for my mom since she does. I have a 5 yr old boy so id like just a cpl of tshirts.
Cant do the little matching shirts and shorts i think he is a tad old for that now. I ordered a cpl of custom shirts off ebay for our first trip in Oct. '07 and they never came in I was soo disappointed. For our upcoming Sept trip I plan on having him something cute for a cpl of days.
This is a great thread, im going to check out the applique tutorial someone suggested.
How about a button down shirt? My 7 year old wants me to make him one.

I didn't sew when I started obsessing over this board last July, either. But, we can be a persuasive bunch!
WOW!!! Look what you're creating in less than a year!!!!

So now I have 5 weeks to update / make new outfits for the CRUISE and make a baby quilt for the shower. :scared: Oh, and figure out this cruising thing because it's our first ever!
Congratulations!

OK so I started to mutli-quote, typed a bit, pressed a random button and its all gone

I just wanted to say that everything posted is truly beautiful and I hope you are all very very proud of yourselves!!!

I'm kinda at a loose end - my machine needs a service as the tension has suddenly gone way out and everything is coming up really loosely stitched. The shop said just drop it off but wont commit on how long they will take. So I've started cleaning my sewing room, washed all of my fabric and will cut out a couple more projects over the weekend. I warned DH the longer I've not got the machine the more time I've got to shop for fabric!!!

:rotfl2:

I was the other person who made the pink Cindy dress. My DD requested last September for our next trip to the BBB. I made it like it was shown in the movie. It all from "prom" fabric. It is lined and has a built in petticoat. It has a lining, two layers of tulle, white satin underskirt and pink overskirt! I am not sure I will ever make another one of these! LOL

Here are a bunch of pictures. :)

Hannah's dress is so pretty! I love that we have the 2 different styles represented in the movie! When I was trying to figure out how to make the dress, I closely watched and re-watched the movie trying to figure out how the dress was made. I took screenshots every time the dress was shown, and there are 3 different versions!! The version of the skirt when it's shown in the cupboard is totally different from the version when she comes down the stairs. There's also another version when the mice are almost done with it.
Here are two of them, taken right from the movie:

I'd say mine is more like the 1st one and yours is more like the 2nd one. I just had to jump in with the pictures when you said you made yours like it was shown in the movie! It's funny that the animators couldn't decide on one style!

Oh she is gonna be the best dressed astronaut at kennedy space center!! I love it!!
I loved your cinderella dress too btw!! And how long have you been saving all of those cameo thingys!! And one with every princess that takes planning!!!

Thank you!!

I actually cut those cameo things off of two pairs of shoes and one Cinderella dress that Lydia was wearing just the other day. She is not going to be happy with me when she realizes what I did!!! But, that old Cinderella dress has certainly seen better days!

The applique tutorial near the beginnig of the thread is GREAT. This is how I learned and it is really super about spelling things out exactly for those of us who are real newbies!! I think Theresa wrote it??

Heather wrote that! I have yet to actually applique anything!

I

Okay now Teresa, where is your photo montage? Curious minds need to see your creations!
I'm still sewing them!
That is absolutely adorable!! It's SOO Lydia! I really love the fabrics she picked out! You did a wonderful job, once again!!
!
Thanks Heather!! I need to get a picture of her in it. She's not in a trying on mood today though.
Love the Space Outfit! If you wanted, you could change her into it so she can ride Space Mountain in it! Then it becomes a Disney outfit too!

That's a good idea!!

I don't blame you for wimping out on that fabric. It was pretty hard to sew & I even broke down & used pins which I never do. I never did get my shirt to fit the way I wanted it to. I was told it looked fine (and Minnie seemed to like it), but I wasn't happy with it.

2007_11190060.jpg

I had to sit here for several minutes convincing my girls that I did NOT go to Disney World without them!!! Goodness, we look a lot alike! I think I am going to wimp out on the shirt too!! I don't have much time left! And, I think I put all my fight into that unruly silver fabric!

This morning's accomplishment!

d7a227e2.jpg

Jessica, I love it!!! Did you do the words with an embroidery machine?? I got one of those the other week, and haven't had time to play with it yet!
I love Lydia's space center outfit. Dallas chose that fabric one day at the store!

Thanks!!! That is very cool that Dallas picked it out too! They are only a few days apart, aren't they? Tessa has Luke, we could set up Dallas and Lydia! :rotfl:

Lydia did a terrific job picking out the fabrics and pattern. It turned out wonderful. You keep cranking out the customs! How many suitcases are you planning on taking?.

Thank you!! I just told her that everyone likes it and said she did a good job, and she's just beaming!!!! We were going to take two suitcases, but that may change!!

How wonderful!!!! It sounds like you had a really great time!!!

i Definitely saw this little girl this past week in Disney. I wanted to ask mom if she was a disboutiquer, but the dress looked store bought to me...

We were getting off of the carrousel, and you were getting on. My DD was in this dress, and you complimented me on it:

I'm sorry I did't way anything.

Very cool that you saw each other, very sad you didn't realize it!!!

If anyone even THINKS they see us next week, just yell out HEY it's a DISER!!! Or, you could call us by name. ;)

First, your Cinderella dress for Arminda is breathtaking. Just gorgeous.

Second, how cute is this? Seriously, very cute! Lydia did a great job picking out the fabric.
How tall is Megan? I can't believe she grew so much in a year!!!

Thanks for the compliments!

My name is Jord, I live with Morgan. Today "someone" was being naughty, so I went to have fun on my own. I went to MGM studios. Boy are my little feet TIRED!!!!

Once I arrived, I hopped on the tram.

After that I was kinda tired, little legs you know LOL. So I came on home. I need a nap!

Oh BTW HeatherSue, I heard you like my HSM outfit so I made sure to wear it today
:rotfl2: Oh my goodness, I can NOT breathe!!! And, although Arminda is trying to convince me that there is no way such a little girl could go to Disney by herself, I don't belive it! I'm glad you had such a great day Jord!!! We can't wait to meet you!

Too funny Heather!! I was just not searching through my emails for the email you sent me with those screen shots in them to post the same thing!

I never realized there were three different looks until you showed me! Silly animators!

I have been planning this outfit for quite some time!!! I at first was going to make it like the one on Ollie Girl Boutique's site, but then Lydia kept picking out more and more and more animal print, so then I decided to do the ruffle. I was going to do the BowzNstuff triple ruffle, but I'm not real pleased with how that one turns out. It's not really a ruffle, just layers. So, I decided to go with good old CarlaC's pattern! (I had actually decided to do this one before I did the Marie one.) Carla's peasant dress top and half the rumble ruffles.

Linette, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so bad. You know we're all really worried about you, don't you? I'll be saying extra prayers for you today.

I love your son's pjs! I also love the fact that they're sweet enough to model them and let you take their pictures! What sweet boys!

When it comes to sewing, I hate having a skinny minnie!!!! Mom and I am having to alter the outfits because they are way to wide. I guess I could go and buy the patterns in the smaller size and use that for width and the bigger size for length. Is this what you all do?

I usually buy the size that fits Tessa best around the middle and then lengthen the sleeves and skirt length. Then, I usually end up adding a sash, or ties in the back, too.

OK so I started to mutli-quote, typed a bit, pressed a random button and its all gone

I would buy the one that fits the width, then take key measurements and draft patten extensions as needed. Center back neck (the bone at the base of the neck) to waist for bodice length and waist to desired skirt/pant length for the bottoms. For pants, just compare a pair that fits her well to the pattern and make the adjustments. You'll probably need to adjust the rise and inseam, since she's a bit lanky. Lanky (or skinny minnie, as you say!) can be good! Takes a while to completely outgrow a pattern! :)

Oops! Forgot to mention the sleeves. Heather covered it, though.

Thursday May 8th. Epcot-she'll be wearing
I compared our itineraries and we're not going to any of the same parks on the same days. :sad2: Can you meet up with us at the campfire sing-a-long at Fort Wildnerness on Thursday, May 8? It starts at 8:00pm, but we'll be there by 7:00pm, at the latest. Stephres will be with us, too!

You think that is bad. Try to big for her height. My aunt wants me to make clothes for her granddaughter. She is one year younger than my Jenna, but she is almost twice her size. My aunt wants me to make her the cutesy clothes like Jenna wears, but she won't pay for a pattern. :confused3 The child is a size 14/16 but her height is that of a five year old. I keep trying to tell her that there is only so much I can do for her for FREE!!! :scared1: My grandparents told me to make her one dress with whatever fabric I have on hand with whatever style I can do for her size and then if she wants more than tell her to pay up front and to pay for a pattern also.

I think all three of the styles that have been made so far are very pretty. I also noticed that the dress seemed to change throughout the scenes that they were shown in. I think that has to do with this movie being made in the early stages of animation. I am making Jenna's dress as a mix of what I have seen so far.
