Disaster! People Mover closed during my stay!

According to the Disney rehab schedule the Tomorrowland Transit Authority aka People Mover is closed from May 3rd to June 30th!

What am I to do? From what I've been reading, this was the only ride I would be able to ride during my stay, due to all the FP+ and crowd issues! I planned on doing rope drop and running straight to People Mover, then soaking up the atmosphere for 12 hours, riding it again and then leaving.

Clearly I need a new touring plan...

There's always the Swiss Family Treehouse... and it comes with free exercise.

I HATE that it will be down on our trip. I have a 21 month old who is a TERROR to wait with while the others do Space Mountain with the child swap pass and this was always a great ride to take him on while we were waiting. We usually do two loops each time. Whoever pulls the short straw and needs to wait with him this trip is going to pay dearly

We are hitting MK on our arrival day-5/2, I'm very glad that we will get to have a ride or two before it goes down. It is a great ride for relaxing and it also works as a great place to take shelter from the rain.

The OP made me :rotfl2::lmao:. But I totally understand where she's coming from. But OP, you could always substitute the Liberty Belle and ride around and around and around TSI all day. It's simply amazing how that old man can still be sitting and rocking by his cabin after all these years.

Went to WDW with my mom in Dec 2012 to celebrate my college graduation. I wasn't too excited about it. I mainly chose WDW because I didn't want to drag my mom around on a trip I didn't think she wouldn't enjoy. I hadn't been since I was 15 or 16 and was "too cool" for it then.

On our last day we were in MK and she wanted to ride the people mover. While we were on it she told me about how she remembered riding this over and over again with my sister while I rode Space Mountain with my dad while we were still little kids, and how this would probably be her last time at Disney.

That made me really sad for some reason and I was determined to not let it be her last trip there. So the People Mover as a special place in my heart as well. I'm now the Disney lover of the family and am always trying to figure out a way to get us back there soon.

I am sad too. I  the People Mover and would ride it B2B2B if allowed.

When I was there last May the "Paging Tom Morrow" wasn't playing, and I thought for a moment that I was dreaming that it actually existed (I rode 3 different times on 3 different days). But when I was there in Nov, I heard it and all was right again

Count us in on those that always take at least a few trips around on the People Mover. Glad to see they are planning to clean it up some as it was getting pretty run down and dirty. I'll look forward to seeing it in August.

Maybe you can substitute it by riding the train for 12 hours? That's our plan next winter! :thumbsup2

Omg. I loved that ride. As my trip is May 3 to the 8th I am really bummed. But hopefully the seven dwarf mine will be opened. I hope it's not too crowded as I looked on websites and the first week of May is all good. But then again my friend said pop century is packed for the two days she tried to get a room..... Eeeeeek!!!!!

Oh this is an excellent idea! Then I can find a spot on the curb to eat my can of corn while I wait for the parade, do the Tom Sawyer Tree house, Tiki Birds, people watch at the kiosks and have a pretty full day! When you think about it, who really needs fast passes?

LOL personally I love the people mover. It's just a cool sit back and relax ride. Very retro! lol

People mover is a favorite of mine for resting my feet. Looks like I will still get to ride it before it closes!

Rode it a couple of times at the end of Feb. and it's desperately in need of a major refurbishment. Everything is extremely dirty on the ride.

I said the same thing last May and people told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Two words: orange cones.
