Disaster averted!!

Rode it a couple of times at the end of Feb. and it's desperately in need of a major refurbishment. Everything is extremely dirty on the ride.

When was the last time they did a refurbishing? I went in 2011 and it was mostly clean but there were problems with the ride (the doors would get stuck, there were broken sections on the track!). I always ride the Peoplemover whenever I go.

I just have two heartfelt pleas:

(1) Don't change a thing. This is a classic ride, a comfort ride, something that can connect everybody who goes to MK, no matter your age, mobility, size, or number of visits. I cannot imagine doing anything to improve this ride.

(2) Please, please do not put in a FP+ line. This will absolutely ruin the ride as it did for PoC and HM. We don't need to create an artificial demand.

People Mover is old reliable. It's always there, always ready to board, always a good time for the group, always restful.

Please, Disney.

I'm very disappointed that it will be closed on our first trip to WDW. As a DLR vet I was looking forward to doing this again. Haven't done it since I was a kid since it has been closed at DL for years. That was part of what made Tomorrowland so special. Oh well.

It's the first ride we take every trip. An "ease into it, feel for the park" type ride.

Our dates are 5/25 to 6/1. Sorry for June and July travelers that will miss it. Good thing I stuck with the thread. Still excited because Mickey Mail came today, and we'd get over it of course. We'd be in Disney after all, but I'll admit too this is one of our favorites. Now I just have to deal with telling dd Festival of the Lion King will be closed.

Hey I actually am glad they moved the refurb date... even if it is apparently desperately in need of one. I'm counting on our Disney trip being hot and crowded and the Peoplemover is going to be a nice escape!

I just shared this news with my husband. If the date stays 6.2.2014 ... that means that we will make it just in time (by only one day). We will have to go on our first day and ride at least once or twice!

I am so happy that the refurb got postponed. I am really sorry for those that will be going during the refurbishment, especially to those that have never gotten the pleasure of riding this gem of a ride. This is our favorite wind down ride, when we want to just relax and rest our wary feet .

We never miss it. It's such a great way to relax for a few minutes in the afternoon. I am sorry it will not be running for our mid June trip. DH will be mightily disappointed. He looks forward to the break. I just hope they don't close Carousel of Progress while we are there, or we may as well stay home.

We are at Mk July 29 and August 1. I know it is a long shot but I am hoping for a soft open for Peoplemover on August 1. I enjoy that ride a lot -although not as much as when it had the former narration loop.

Just saw the expected reopening date. Yay! Our last day is 8/6. We'll be going to MK before we leave for the airport. Riding the Peoplemover (TTA) could make a special end to our trip.
