i'm not what you'd call a girly-girl so i totally forgot about this until right before the wedding. but i did make it work. something new was my dress, of course. something old was my grandma's pearls i had on. something borrowed was the slip was wearing. those big bell-looking slips are expensive and so i just borrowed my best friends since i knew i'd never need it again! and something blue was the ribbon on my garter.

I'd not even thought about it till my mum mentioned it today! I thought about a garter with a blue ribbon through it as my 'blue', and I'd not even thought about my dress being new so I guess thats two Ive got! I just need something borrowed and something old. Im thinking some kind of jewellery from a family member, I'll have to have a rummage through their things! :rotfl: Thanks Dawn!

Im a SAMER this week!

I did do the whole something old, something new....
Something old and something borrowed was 1 thing - the crown I wore. The crown has been in my family for over 400 years (no that is NOT a typo!). It is my mom's right now, until she passes away and then it will be handed down to me.

Something new was my dress and something blue was the garter. My garter was blue and white which was perfect because thats what our wedding colors were.

Generally something new is usually your wedding dress, something blue is usually your garter and something old can be like a piece of jewlery you have, and something borrowed can be anything really. Maybe borrow a piece of jewlery.

Question for all the brides and brides to be (and Aaron) - Do you guys do 'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?
If you do or did, I really need some ideas of what you used or will be using for each thing! Im stuck for ideas!

Blue was my garter, borrowed and old was a bracelet from my mom (and I have a nice picture of her putting it on me) that she got from her mom, and new was the rest of my jewelry....

DisneyGalUK, I am sure that you will be a beautiful bride!

Thats a great idea for a photo!
Thanks Kat  Out of all the things I could be nervous about, bad photos are high up there!

Thanks everyone for the ideas - I think the garter for blue is the way to go, and new for the dress. I think as well that Jewellery sounds like the best idea with the old and borrowed. Ive never really looked at my mums or grandmas jewellery, nows a good time to start!:thumbsup2

First things first - I gained roughly 8-9 lbs on our WDW trip, and I am down to 4.8 of those lbs left to get rid of. So Aaron, you can add 4.8 on my challenge info. But hopefully I'll be getting rid of a lot of those this coming week. And I guess my official weigh in info would be +4.8 lbs from my last weigh in.

I am respectfully declining weighing in this week..due to an unexpected decadent night out to celebrate the fact that last night:

I got engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't even believe it!!! I am so excited and i just love my ring and how he did it! I have pics and i will be sure to share the story/pics when i get back but i am leaving for PA/NYC today so i will have pics of that too i'm sure!

Just wanted to share the exciting news ..wheee :) must be all this wedding talk from lauren heehee! :) so i will be reading all the advice with a fine tooth comb as well!

have a great weekend all!

OMG!!! Gina! I am SO excited for you!!! :yay: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

My new was my dress, blue was the garter, old and borrowed was a ring that had belonged to my mom's favorite aunt who passed away when I was little. My mom has it now and lent it to me. So I love the jewelry idea! :thumbsup2

I know this is hard to believe, but I just updated my TR from last Sept!!! :scared1: Crazy, I know! I might actually make it through that thing after all!

Lynda, as usual, we are in sync... I gained 9 lbs from my WDW trip too, but I am down 8 of them... here's to hoping that the other 4 or so leave you soon!

Congratulations!

I am up 2.6 We went to BJ's for the end of the school year party, and I ate way too much because things are tense at school. Our principal is leaving, and she's had a screw loose for a while, but now she is really losing it. She yelled at the custodian today, dropping the F-bomb right in front of students and staff, and directed at a staff member! I know it's no excuse, and I'm hurting myself with the way I'm eating, but I just don't have the emotional energy to resist all of the end of the year temptations. I'm heading to the gym in the morning after a good night's sleep, and I'll be slamming the water this weekend while I finish report cards and take care of my mom. TGIF!

Forgot to say, good job on all the pretty numbers. I thought about not posting mine, but decided to bite the bullet.

Good Morning Peeps!!
First of all, before my update....
CONGRATULATIONS GINA!!!
I am so happy for you and cant wait to hear all about it!!!

I just finished reading the past few pages since I was out of commission...love all the wedding talk. And I love the wedding dress!! I so wish I could get remarried (to the same DH!) just so I could plan it again and get a new dress ;) I loved my dress of course, but I would definitely choose a pretty strapless number this time, with the new improved me...which brings me to my update. Feel free to skip to the next post Aaron, girl talk ahead ;)

I am officially home recovering now and I cant believe the immediate relief my neck and back feel. It is truly amazing. However, my first thought was I felt FLAT. I know I am not, but going from where I was to where I am is a huge adjustment. He said he took 900 grams from one side and close to 1200 from the other- the equivalent of close to 5 pounds total I think he said! And dear lord! Where the heck did my stomach come from all of a sudden! I was hiding it pretty well under 'the girls' and now I can see it! :scared1:

I was terrified waiting to get it started and waiting on my IV, but that was honestly the worst part of the day. The sleeping was fantastic  I remember saying goodbye to my DH and mom, and crossing the threshold of the door into the hall...and then waking up close to 5 hrs later. I am on 'princess duties' right now. Strictly resting in bed except for a few hrs a day, no exercise at all (even walking), still no lifting anything more than 5 pds (and not holding my little man is killing me, but he is just too wiggly and I fear he would kick me in the wrong place), no reaching or stretching. DH even gave me a bell to ring from bed if I need something:lovestruc I had some drain thingies in until yesterday and having those out now is a huge relief. My ins. company is allowing me a home health nurse to come by daily to help me change my dressings and stuff, and that has been great. I am most sore under the arm area where I think he used some liposuction to help with the reduction. And judging from that alone I would NEVER get lipo done anywhere, ever. I cant imagine being this sore in other parts of my body just for the sake of looking thinner. I can diet away the rest of my issues. Is is sad that I now cant wait to go back to disney and see how great touring the parks will be without back and neck pain, and am considering booking a trip for fall? It excites me beyond belief!!

Anyways, I am still quite swollen and retaining quite a bit of water. I am still in on the challenge but I may not weigh in until next week or the week after officially. I havent forgotten about it and I will still hit my goal!! I just dont want to stress over a number these next few weeks that is not really accurate.

dance - glad to hear you're doing well! i'm sure it's a huge relief to have the surgery over with and to have some relief from that annoying pain. my stepmother had the same surgery when i was little and i know it made a world of difference with her. congratulations on having new girls! :thumbsup2

Happy Saturday Peeps!

Gina - CONGRATS!!!! Can't wait to hear about the proposal!

Dance - Thanks for letting us know how everything went. Sounds like you're doing great so far. When the swelling goes down and you're feeling better, you should post some before and afters!

Everyone - Have a Disney question for all of you. I could post it on one of the other boards but I thought I'd throw it out here too. My brother works for a local law enforcement (he is a lieutenant). A few months ago, 2 of his deputies (in his actual district) were killed in the line of duty. Their families do not have much although the children and wife of one of the deputies is getting some financial help (routine in these situations). Anyway, I guess they are wanting to do a trip to Disney and are looking for some things to make it special for them. My brother asked me who he would contact at Disney (b/c I'm the disney freak of the family) to discuss some "special" things for the families, i.e. VIP services, private meet and greets, that sort of thing - basically anything that Disney would offer (i.e. give for free) to make this trip special for these families. They are writing up a proposal type letter but just wondering who he should contact initially? Any suggestions for him? Do you even thing Disney would do something like this? They (my brother and his co-workers, not the families) are not wanting their entire vacation paid for or anything like that, just some extra special touches to make this trip even more magical than it would otherwise be.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw it out here first for you all to throw out your thoughts before I post it elsewhere because frankly, I'm afraid I will get flamed big time for it since it comes across as asking for free stuff.

And other news - I graduated today! Officially finished with graduate school...although I still have not received my diploma. I will try to post some pics when my brother sends them to me...he took them all on his camera.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hello everyone!

Shannon - My suggestion about the law enforcement officers' families is this: try calling or emailing the DISUnplugged Podcast crew. They have contacts at Disney and would be able to research this question a little more closely for you. Plus, if they read your email or play your voice mail they'll send you a t-shirt! Seriously, though, they will have great ideas for you. And CONGRATULATIONS on graduating! I'll be doing the same...someday. I'm finishing my bachelor's degree through an independent study program and I'm just a few credits short of completing!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Peeps!

Congrats on the surgery, Dance. Hope you're back to feeling 100% soon.

Shannon - I was just talking to a teacher at my school whose MIL works for WDW. A big part of her job is setting up Make-A-Wish type visits. If you don't have any luck, PM me and I'll talk to my friend about how to contact that dept. of Disney.

I had a good food day. I got to sleep at 12:30 this morning, then DH woke me at 5:30.:furious: I went to take care of my mom, and when I got back home, I fell asleep for 2 1/2 hours! I never nap, so I felt really groggy, but at least I didn't feel like eating much. I am really going to try to write down everything I eat this week. That seems to make a huge difference in my eating.

Kat & DisneyLaura - You were both beautiful brides! I hope I can look as good on my wedding day - I hate having photos taken![/QUTOE]

Thank you and you WILL love gorgeous.

Question for all the brides and brides to be (and Aaron) - Do you guys do 'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?
If you do or did, I really need some ideas of what you used or will be using for each thing! Im stuck for ideas!

something old - I can't remember; something new - my dress; something borrowed - my cousin's earrings and necklace she wore on her wedding; something blue - I had a blue ribbon in my garter

Also you have to a penny in your shoe. I don't know why but my aunt told us that.

Good Morning Peeps!!

Dance so glad your surgery went well and you're feeling better. Great news on the nurse coming to the house :thumbsup2 I have that same problem with the girls hidding my belly too

And other news - I graduated today! Officially finished with graduate school...although I still have not received my diploma. I will try to post some pics when my brother sends them to me...he took them all on his camera.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Congrats.

Good morning peeps. Yesterday I ate horrible. I ate this huge cheeseburger from Duchess (it's a chain in CT) and french fries of course with a Diet coke. My rings are tight now and I'm so upset at myself but today's a new day right. I weigh in on Tuesday so tomorrow and today - water, water, water. Talk to you guys tomorrow - busy today.

Laura

CONGRATS!!! :thumbsup2 no advice about the disney contacts, but i wish you luck!

i'm so tired! we went out for 2 friends' birthdays last night and didn't get home until 4:30. :scared1: and not by my choice, either. i was ready to go around 1:00. we finally left at 2:30, then we had to go by mcdonald's because everyone was hungry. then we had to take another friend home who lives way outta the way. needless to say, next time i'm bringing my own car! but i am proud of myself - i didn't drink any alcohol and add unnecessary calories to my intake yesterday. and for dinner we went to bahama breeze and me and anna split a grilled chicken dish, so i was good all day!

Laura, pick yourself up, dust off, and keep moving forward!

Although I must admit, that huge cheeseburger sounds good...

Dawn, I am so glad that you are back to posting regularly...

I am so excited... stepped on the scale this morning and I was 166! Back to my pre-WDW weight!! :woohoo:

Plus, I tried on pair of Gap size 10 khakis from the "thin drawer" (and probably from 2001) and they fit. Still on the tight side, but able to button, zip, and walk around and even sit.

Only 16 more lbs to go to initial goal weight...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!! Super hot here, supposed to get up to 102.

Happy Sunday, all.

This was in my email this morning and made me laugh, so I thought I'd share it.

Womanly Wisdom

Women over 50 don't have babies because they would put them down and forget where they left them.

A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills... she has 14 kids but doesn't really care.

One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you are doing, someone else does.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.

I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers.

Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!

Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' ......Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!

The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.

I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

LIVE SIMPLY.....LAUGH OFTEN....LOVE DEEPLY
