So last night I decided to take a home covid test since I had a bit of a cough and I was going to badminton with a friend so I wanted to assure her that no it's not COVID just a cold. Well imagine my surprise when I got a positive result. I thought we maybe it was wrong so I took another one this morning and yup you guessed it I have covid. My nephew and I both have tested positive and his girlfriend and my brother are both negative. I am trying to stay away from everybody and we are wearing masks in the house. The little cough which is now gone was my only symptom. I have no lost my taste or smell.

We had the same experience with youngest ds. Thought it was just a cold for him...did a test and it turned instantly positive. He only had cold-like symptoms. He is fully vaccinated. He spent the rest of his days in his room...and only going to the bathroom and wiping the surfaces with lysol wipes when exiting the bathroom, as we only have one bathroom in our home. It didn't spread to anyone else in our home.

I hope you don't experience any severe symptoms.

I still don't have my complete sense of smell back - I would say it's only at about 50-75% back. It's been a year now since I contracted it. It could be worse - but trying to cook without your full sense of smell has taken getting used to.

How are you doing today @juniorbugman ? I hope your recovery was uneventful.
Thanks for your concern. I am fine. Never had any issues except my family said my voice sounded like I had a cold. Yippee I tested negative today so I am good to go out again and it was the 5 days recommended on the Ontario site. I wear a mask all the time when I am out so no problem with that.

Home! The drive home seemed very long. I think I was anxious to get back to Canada and know how fast I could drive without having to figure it out. Pets are all happy to see us. Fridge is empty, the power was off for 5 days, my mom paid my niece to clean my fridge for me before we got home. I'll need to get rid of a few things from the freezer still but I didn't want her going in the basement, Olaf tends to climb up into the ceiling and walls if let in that part of the basement. I wasn't sure she would be able to keep him out. I had groceries delivered this evening. We did covid tests on the ship last night and were both negative. I think it helped we spent time in the cabin, sitting on the balcony, etc. We will test again in a few days and make sure we are still negative before we go out and about.

The ship was nice enough, but I think I prefer the smaller classes. There were some differences from pre-covid times. One thing I was glad to have was the refreshment package, nice iced latte every morning, a few virgin drinks each day and the coke freestyle machines whenever we wanted.

Kind of sad I had vacation last week, I wouldn't have been able to work with no power, internet didn't come back until yesterday. But I guess it worked out for the best. I did get lots of steps and activity! Especially the day we went to Coco Cay and did the water slides. There was a lot of good food on the ship, but I don't think I really over ate, though it was nice having 3 course meals that I didn't have to cook every day! Sleep was an issue, apparently I snore too loudly and he couldn't sleep so he would kick my bed to wake me up. Then he would fall asleep and I could go back to sleep until he woke up again, and since he is a pooptastic sleeper that was at least once or twice a night.

Sunburned, at Coco Cay. I thought we were putting on enough sunscreen but apparently not! His feet ended up burned, and my back/shoulders. I still hurt, but he's all healed up and just looks tanned now. I do think I'm going to bed early tonight, and hopefully I'll be all ready for work tomorrow! New manager started the week before my holidays and I'm anxious to see what's going on. No holidays or days off really until July. A long stretch of work days :) It will make me appreciate the vacation more when it arrives.

Now if only the ship would stop moving it would be great, or the house I guess? It feels like I am still in motion. Always happens after a cruise, still worth it.

Welcome Home Hon.
I am so happy you guys were able to get away and just relax. I am not much of a cruiser here but the idea of all my meals prepared for me sounds so lush.
Yeah I have found that having separate sleeping areas does help when I go away with my sons on holidays ,,but a cruise would be so expensive for an extra cabin. My middle son snores and I tend to wheeze a bit with allergies and bronchitis.
Hopefully you can pick up a few points/miles refilling the refrigerator and freezer.
Ease into work hon,,, hopefully your new manager works out well.
Hugs

It sounds like it was a great holiday!

I can relate to the long stretch of work days. I/We have been trying to bank some holiday time as we have my sister's wedding in Aug, and both boys want to do a trip, and I think they don't want to do the same thing...so it will be 2 separate trips. They are both needing something after the last 2 yrs. We had plans but of course they got axed and with both of them working, it's been hard to book anything.

Well, I have been trying to be consistent and get to the gym at least 3 if not 4 days a week. Some days, I can only muster up so that I put in some steps, other times I can set an incline and do 2 or 3 sets totaling 30 minutes at an incline. I can already feel the effects in my clothes ::yes:: which helps me to keep going back.

Just wanted to update a little bit that I am still chugging along.

I have also stepped things up a bit. Walking a puppy just isn't getting in the distance so I have decided to walk him and then continue on to my ususal exercise distance.

I have been on a bit of a plateau the last few weeks. Not losing but not gaining either. Need to step up the distance and cut out a few mid afternoon cookies that have crept into my diet to get back on the losing trajectory.

Two steps forward one step back. Back to the two steps forward.

The inches are coming off. Picked up some new bras yesterday and I went down two band witdth sizes. All my shorts from last year had to go out. Unfortunately I don't like many of the replacement ones I've seen yet. I will have to get on that before the hot weather hits.

Well the weather has warmed up here in the past couple days.
31, 27
I have the heart and desire to use my exercise jumperoo but the fatigue I am feeling is so crazy. 2 naps before lunch yesterday. I am waiting on some test that were done 2 weeks ago which they called me last week and said the Dr. want to talk with me about them but no open appointments till June next week. Lord almost a month to get test results that the Diagnostic center says they've had two days after my tests ,,health care is not going so well right now. Patience I guess.
Well I guess I try to move/do as much as I can ,,I want to get the garden watered today.
Condo still hasn't turned on the outside tap to my place ,,,sent a nasty email to them last night ,,they say somehow I got overlooked and will get the taps turned on. I'll believe it when I see it,,, again Patience I guess.
Happy Tuesday everyone ,,,you are all doing great ...keep moving.

Hugs Mel @ Patience .again .ca (LOL)

That was me last year. I did gain about 5 lbs over winter, but nothing too bad. But was not seeing much progress on anything even with going regularly to the gym. So I'm being more mindful about my food choices (still not giving up eat hamburgers or a slice of pizza :rolleyes1 ) and increasing and making my workout more effective. I am really trying to revamp my mindset and step away from the toxic diet culture rhetoric. I am not giving up sugar, carbs, counting this or that - but making mindful food choices. Watching portion sizes is HUGE!!!!

So that is just a little of what I'm working on right now. Small steps to a healthier (both physically and mentally) me.

Well, I am seriously considering purchasing tickets to a Blue Jays game for dh for father's day and a present for 15 yrs sober birthday as well. So it would be a quick long weekend trip for us. Dh has reward nights with his hotels.com that are expiring soon, and if we fly swoop or flair, it's a cheap flight from Edmonton to try and keep our costs down.

My question to all of the Onatrians on these boards, how using using uber/lyft to get around? Would it be better to rent a car to get around? What else is a must see? I would love to go to Niagara Falls so that would be a full day. We are used to driving and have no problem spending 3-4 hrs to go see things.

Any ideas/suggestions for me? We have never been in Ontario (besides landing at YYZ) so we have zero idea of what to do or expect.

Are you good driving in BUSY cities? Because Toronto is very busy, especially downtown where you'd be going to the game. I do not like driving there, just the highways going through is enough for me. How many lanes do they need on a road? Why 6 or 7 in each direction? Too many people. If you are staying near where the games are, it's fairly easy to walk to a number of places, or catch the subway/transit to get around. There is the CN tower right there, and the Ripley's Aquarium right under it. The Royal Ontario Museum is not too far by subway, and there is shopping too, I think it's the Eaton Center? If you like amusement parks, you could go to Wonderland (you would probably need a car for that). If you want to drive to Niagara Falls for a day, that might be fun too, there is a lot of touristy stuff to do there.

He is yes. With work, he's been driving in LA, Atlanta and a few other large cities. So he is used to it. Driving is not a big deal for us.
Then you will have no issues! other than finding and paying for parking 🤣🤣

Hi Pumpkin
My son who lives in Toronto suggests
1. Take UP from Pearson Airport to your hotel and then Uber in Toronto.

(Parking & Driving is precarious at times especially in the summer months when Streets & Roads can be closed for festivals).

For Niagara Falls
rent a car and drive yourself.
