DIS Fit - New Hopes, Dreams & Goals - Chit Chat Thread

Today I have been surfing online hairstyles.
The Covid hair do has to go.
Now I used to get my hair cut in a layered look,,,, but I now like having it all grown out,
Problem is what do I ask for,,, length has grown past the shoulders and down the back.
I'd like it above the shoulders a bit but no bangs ,,can they do that? What kind of cut do I ask for.
My hair is pretty thick and has a bit of natural curl.
Would this be a wavy bob?

My best suggestion to you....is to save pictures ( pintrest is great for this) showing how you want your hair to look. Make sure the stylist is aware you have some loose curl. Cutting curly hair is much different than straight hair. It doesn't lay the same way as straight hair.

I am going to say...make sure to have some layers - they especially help your hair not look like a tent around your head. I would add some face framing layers that you can still pull back when you want, but will easily be able to style with a curling iron, straightener if your using those to style your hair.

They key is finding a stylist who cuts curly hair. I have finally found a good one. My hair is naturally curly ( more loose curls) and I wear mine both curly and straight - mostly curly as I don't want to damage my hair by straightening it on a regular basis...and honestly...it is easier and faster to do it curly. Good products help as well.

Good luck...let us know how it goes

I actually don't own a blow dryer or a curling iron.
I kind of shampoo/cream rinse--- and comb/brush and go.
Right now I use barrettes or a hair band to keep it back off my face.
Yeah grabbing a few photos of what I'd like is a great idea.
I'll see if my old hair dresser is still working at my old salon ,,it's been 3 or more years since I've been there.
I'll definitely post how it goes.
Thanks

My first official retirement activity,,,
Early morning drive to get coffee and I spotted this little concrete snowman in the garbage. I had to save him .
Brought him home and gave him a bath and I think he's adorable. Sons are shaking their head and laughing at my *first retirement activity*. ***Dumpster Diving****

Omg he is adorable. How could anyone get rid of him? My sister would have rescued him as well

I would have rescued him also.

I eyed some garden stones (real not poured concrete) at the end of a driveway with the garbage the other day while I was walking the dog. I might go and get a few of those and make myself a garden inukshuk. Those stones are expensive to purchase at the garden centers.

I have been collecting a few for my garden,,,(from the forest), kind of trying to stop the rabbits from nibbling on my plants plus the stones are good for ground erosion too.
A garden Inukshuk sound great!😊

Just checking in to make sure everyone in Ontario is well after that horrendous storm today. We were lucky to not loose any power but the news says that Uxbridge had a tornado go through with lots of damage. A historical train station was severely damages and lots of houses in the town lost roofs.
My friend hasn't had power since 1:30 and no idea when it will be back on.

Our daughter needs to buy a lottery ticket ... this happened to her little car when the storm blew thru our city 😱 not even one scratch on the car once they removed the tree!!!

My power is out, but we are in New Jersey waiting to board Oasis of the Seas. I have no idea if the house tool any damage or not, my sister lives nearby but has been busy with her own house and family, they were all up at their cottage. My niece should be checking on my cats today but maybe tomorrow. I am thinking good thoughts that the house is ok, the cats are fine without power, and there want really anything in fridge or freezer to go bad, and no one there to open them. Plus, we aren't there to be without power (and internet etc).

I was feeling really lucky yesterday, I bought a lottomax ticket when I got gas Friday night, which had dropped from over $2 a litter to only $1.90, and I won $50! Then the drive here was pretty nice, hilly but not too much traffic, we made good time even with me sticking to the limit. I am hoping my luck was still good and that the house is ok.

So happy everyone is physically safe and hope we have sunny happy days ahead.
Hugs Mel

I'm sure the house is fine and maybe your sister or mom & Dad could take a drive by to check on it for you.
My sister is up North and they lost power and their Gazebo blew away, but I checked on her house down here and it is ok ,,I texted her just to ease her mind.

I have been trying to think of something to keep myself busy next fall/winter,, yes I like being retired but activity keeps the mind strong.
I had thought about upcycling furniture but the physical space this requires I just don't have.
Sewing, Quilting and Knitting I admire but just not me.
My former Etsy shop (FairyDust Pintables was doing well until the Pandemic hit and then I closed it when travel fell apart). I am thinking of re-opening it but with a modified selection of product,, mostly small booklets/ Journals, all Disney Park/ Disney Cruise themed.
Any thoughts for me on this?
What things do you think people would like?
Halloween/Christmas/Food & Wine, Disney Springs? etc.
Thanks for helping me think this through and sort this out.
This would be for digital downloads.

Neighbour's tree fell across the driveway, lucky we weren't parked there like usual. Everything else is ok, though power is still out.

Hi Hon
Glad to hear that the house is ok and yeah that was very fortunate your car wasn't in the driveway. Now off you go and have a great Holiday. Rest & Relaxation!!

Thanks! So far I am killing it in getting steps in. This ship is huge! Sleep will be a problem since my overly sensitive kid says I snore and no earplugs will do. Though I wasn't asleep when he said I was making too much noise so apparently just me breathing is a problem. Oh well! Sitting on my central park balcony listening to the birds and enjoying an iced vanilla latte while I wait for him to wake up. Can't believe there are actually birds on the ship. And I saw them, it isn't just recorded bird sounds!

Cloudy weather, a bit humid, but still happy to be on a cruise again.

What a great idea! If you can control the number of items and numbers people order at a time, so you have the time to complete orders, it will provide a nice little extra income.

It sounds amazing!!!! Enjoy all the moments!
I am glad your home didn't have much damage. The power outage is something you can deal with when you get home. It is amazing how long items in the freezer can stay frozen if there is no opening and closing of lids/doors. You can deal with all of that once you get home.
