Dirty rooms at VWL

Hi all - has anyone else noticed that the rooms at VWL aren't up to standard? We spent the first 1/2 of our week at BCV which was perfectly fine (although the carpets in the halls look like they've seen better days). Then we transferred to VWL (my favourite place to stay) and the room was not clean at all. It had been cleaned for the day - but not well. The floor in the kitchen was dirty. I had to clean the handle on the fridge, the knobs on the stove were caked with food and the carpets in the living room and second bedroom were sticky. You had to keep shoes on from sticking to the carpets. Did not please me. Also there was no coffee/tea starter pack but I called down and they took care of it. It bothers me that I have to do that and then tip the guy that brings up what was supposed to be there in the first place (but I did tip him anyway - wasn't his fault). What would you do about this situation?

Wow that sounds gross (the sticky stuff).....I dunno but I was once given a BWV 2bedroom that was not very clean. I just ended up cleaning it all myself. :confused3

Please just do not settle for a room that has not been cleaned well. Report it to the housekeeping manager...just push the housekeeping button on the phone and ask for a manager to report a poorly cleaned room. Also, make a call to Member Satisfaction...don't wait until you go home...do it while there. I am not one of those DVCer's who expect CM's to bend over backwards "just because we're DVC members" however, Disney/DVC does promote the DVC resorts as deluxe resorts and from what we have seen over the past few years in so far as housekeeping and maintenance issues they are falling ...very quickly...from deluxe status ... in my book anyway. I promised myself after our last two trips that I will not just "settle and do it myself" and will complain to both housekeeping at the resort and Member Satisfaction when we receive a room which is not cleaned or maintained well upon check-in. I also take great care to leave the place in order upon check-out.....we dispose of all trash in the trash room, I put all dirty towels in the tub, we load and start the diswasher and if we've used the sofa bed I leave the bed out so housekeeping is aware it has been used.....remembering the night we checked in and opened the sofabed to sheets full of crumbs.....obviously the previous party had folded the bed up that way and housekeeping never checked it. Years ago when we were new DVC members we were told to do the above things before checking out...after all, it was our "home away from home" and would we leave trash in our vacation home when leaving? In those days, we always had a fresh, very clean unit upon check-in. I truly believe the current issues are a combination of problems....one...not enough housekeeping staff to cover/clean properly...two...staff who either don't care or haven't been properly trained and supervised and ..three...DVCer's who do not treat their DVC as a "home away from home" or maybe they do ...and they don't take care of their home either...and leave their DVC unit in such bad condition.....dirty, stained, etc. and housekeeping just can't clean it in the allotted timeframe and therefore, all the rooms assigned to that housekeeper suffer that day.......and if that happens with two or three units that day....now that housekeeper is completely overwhelmed. So, please do not just settle for a nonclean room.......you need to let management know....no need to be nasty, but, they do need to know when the job isn't done right.

This situation drives me nuts and it happens more times than it should. I get the feeling from most CM's that they are aware of the problems and it's business as usual. They give out free meals and cash as if it's no big deal when you get a dirty room or a room that has maintenance issues.

At SSR last year they sent the VIP cleaning crew who has the job of cleaning VIP rooms and rooms that have repeated complaints. We also were visited by the Guest Show Manager who came by to check the room and to give us a room credit.
