OK, I have been lurking on this thread for a while, but I have only read some of the posts not all. When I happened upon this thread I was interested in what digital scrapbooking was. I wasn't sure if I would like it. I really like doing the hands on crafts, but I like photography and graphics too! Almost 20 years ago with my first child I started my first child's photo album. As soon as I had him I went out and bought a Nikon 2000. His first year album has over 600 pictures. I did the traditional way for the first four children. When a little surprise came along 7 years after the youngest, scrapbooking was all the rage. I decided it would be nice to do hers differently and creatively. I love being creative! I researched and choose supplies, took lots of pictures, but no scrapbook.

Another little one came along and I said I have to do better, I am going to do it this time!

So I asked myself how am I to get better organized? I researched again and bought a digital camera because that had been the rage for quite a while and I decided it was time to get one and it would make my picture taking more organized and maybe it would help with scrapbooking!

Bought some more stuff I liked. Is there a scrapbook? No, just more supplies.

And then theres lots of organized pictures that I lost and recovered because they exploded in my iphoto on my computer. Had I saved them all? Well of course not so I had a shocked system until I recovered them all.

In the fall of 2005 we went to Disney. What do you do when your planning and waiting? Well of course you buy Disney scrapbooking supplies!

But after the trip I did a good job and printed up all the Disney pictures! Starting off good right?

Then I am trying to figure out were to start because if you remember I haven't done a scrapbook yet.

Well I had been thinking a lot and trying to figure out what was going to work for me.

But I needed to get these pictures in an album for the kids and I and everyone else to see. Scrapbooking just was going to take too long because I couldn't make the decisions, so I decided to buy some albums and put them in and just make some 4 x 6 index cards as headers describing what was going on. Well when I jump in (finally) I just keep going.

I ended up spending a lot of time anyways downloading just the right Disney graphics to make these headers really fun! Then of course there was more than just the headers, there was little fun notes of explanation throughout the book...! It ended up very nice and I was glad all my journaling was included because it jogs your memory and keeps the memories alive. So I keep thinking....what is it that will fit me and my schedule? Well that brings us up to our last little one. Did I buy some scrapbooking supplies? Sure I did!! But this time with the intent for just the special pictures and I bought photo albums to put the rest in... well because I still have to put all the cute photos I took of him in the album.(and I thought I would cut down on pictures by using a digital...right, no theres just more and there all good!!) He is 16 months and still no scrapbook, but I do have some photo albums!

In the meantime I fall upon a free 8 x 11 Shutterfly book. What an experience that was and it was fast! So I am thinking more...hmm what is the best for me to keep their pictures? Sounding like traditional albums because it is the quickest and easiest.
>>>>>So for anyone who doesn't want all the background start here. I went to a homeschool conference and there is a table on creative memories, but her table has a twist of creativity that caught my eye, so I wander over.(I wont mention all the cute creative stuff she had) BUT she had a comparison of a traditional scrapbooked album and a digital scrapbooked album that was made to look identical to show what the differences were. I was shocked! The only difference was the 3D effect and I think even then digital scrapbooking can add some of that in which I think she did. So anyway now I am thinking that maybe I should seriously enter the world of digital scrapbooking because it looks nice and it's a lot faster. (she talked about how long each album took and about how her kids were able to design the pages on a lap top during car time and then print them when they got home. We didn't talk much about it, but can it be less expensive for digital scrapping or that depends?)
So where do I start? Does anyone know about creative memories digital scrapbooking? Is it worth it? She answered any question I had, but I didn't have long to ask questions. She wasn't pushing her program, but pointed out that it's easier for a new person to have some program to start with.
So please tell me where do I start? I must also add a curve ball I own a mac. I don't think her program(creative memories) runs on mac unless I have some thing and I don't. Are there some web sights for beginners or any special magazine or books. I can go to Michaels or AC Moore tonight. I even have a 50% off coupon. I would like to do this as inexpensively as possible.
Could some of you Disneyers please help me out?!? And I just booked another Disney trip for 11(our family and my parents) for end of August.(free dining!
