Difference between Memory Maker and Photopass Archive

In the past, they wouldn't add dining photos to your PhotoPass unless you had a PhotoPass+ for the brief moment in time those existed, or MM. Now that they've done away with printing physical photos at dining locations, that's an interesting follow up question to mine, so a) do they still take (digital) dining photos, and b) if so, do they add them to your Magic Band only if you have MM?

I had MM in March and still got printed pictures from my character meals. I'm looking at our Akershus picture right now on my wall.

Same here, however a) the change happened since then and b) excludes Akershus and CRT (which include photos as part of meals, so they have to honor the 6 mos of existing reservations already paid for before this change was made).

Per

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/cinderella-royal-table/

"please be aware that all packages sold for arrivals after January 4, 2015 will no longer include print packaging. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

The questions still remain 1) whether photos are continuing to be taken, just not printed at other MM dining photo locations, and if so 2) if you have to have MM to get them added to your MB. Presumably Akershus and CRT will follow suit with what the other MM dining photo locations have already done.

I was just looking under the products section of Memory Maker, and I do not see the back up disc that you used to be able to buy with your photos on it, and I think it also came with gallery photos for either $29 or $39, I can't remember which one. I have already purchased Memory Maker, but with my cruddy service out here in the middle of no where, and the fact that I only have an iPad, I wanted to also purchase that disc, in case I cannot get my pix downloaded.

Does anyone have a link to that product? I've googled and looked on the Disney website and cannot find it anywhere. Thanks.

As I Understand it from reading lots of messages on bulletin boards....(can I find this message now??? Nooooo)
With Memory Maker you can’t download the photos you’ve added borders and stuff to?
Does the blurb on the disney site mean you get with the edited photos also?
https://mydisneyphotopass.disney.go.com/keepsakes/index/notlogged/
I’m rather miffed if I can’t get the photos I edit on the site and can just use them on products and their very expensive photo book.

As far as I understand it, you edit your photos with the borders or add ons and then you are able to download them and print them wherever you like.

Memory Maker is the old "PhotoPass+" if you remember that option? MM also links to your MB - not sure if regular PP still uses the cards??

PhotoPass Archive Disc is what you are referring to. Here's the link:
https://mydisneyphotopass.disney.go.com/keepsakes/select/categoryc/c/disneyphotopassarchivedisc/

It is a separate product from MM and is $20 more than a MM ordered 3 days or more prior to your trip, and does not include ride or dining photos. MM download still includes the gallery photos and photos customized with borders -- at least it did when I had one in March.

No, the one I'm talking about is a "back up disc" of your photos on it. It was definitely not that. I don't know if they have done away with or, or maybe you don't get the option to purchase it until after you have photos taken. So the MM download comes with the gallery stock photos? I was told that it doesn't include those anymore. I am beyond confused with this. Thanks.

When I was there this summer, they added the dining pictures to my magic band and did not ask if we had MM....that was before they stopped trying to sell the photos at the meal.

That is true. You can download any edited photos. This will not work if the edits are done on someone else's account. ONLY the edits done on the account of the person who OWNS the MM will be able to be downloaded.

Regular PP still uses the cards. You can also have a regular card added to your account to be used with MM- they give these types of cards out at JTA and ETWB also.

From my understanding The new MM is simular to the old Photo Pass Plus except you will no longer have the options to have you pictures on a CD nor will you get the gallery stock photos. On top of that Disney had taken away many of the printed photos at the dining places as well. They will still be on your account but now will have to be downloaded which is the ONLY option now. I am in the same boat as you. I would really like to have the CD and can not understand why it should be MORE than the MM. I personally think Disney is attempting to get rid of any CD option period. The prepay CD archive was just eliminated a month or two ago. We had Photo Pass Plus our lats trip and IMOP it was sooooooo much better than MM. At that time we still got a print out of our Dining pictures and our Pirate League pictures. They came in a nice souvioner sleve with a group picture of the characters as well.

I actually ended up posting my own thread to try and get some clarification. Seems that you can order a disc of your photos. (I think but I'm not sure, it comes with the gallery stock photos. I've seen conflicting posts on this.) See this post:

This is the first time I ordered anything like this, and I agree that PP+ looked hands down better than MM+. Seems that they really reduced what you get, and kept the price the same. I really think the disc should just be included automatically. It bugs me that I have to pay extra, but at least I can get it.

Thanks for the info. That is good to know:thumbsup2

The've hidden the PhotoPass Archive Disc as well unless you direct link to it above. They are trying to get rid of the discs, which to be fair every PC sold in the past 10 years has a DVD burner so $1 at the drug store for a DVD seems like a better option (or storing the download on OneDrive for free). Don't shoot the messenger :)

Thanks for confirming all three questions. I thought you could store PP on MB as well, MM or not?

I do not have a computer though, I only have an iPad. There lies my dilemma. I have no clue what OneDrive is either. Sorry, not tech savvy, I suppose.

If you don't have a DVD reader, how does an archive disc help you? ;) One Drive is free 15GB online storage (accessible from your iPad or any device).

Because I can take the disc and go to a less expensive place like Walmart, CVS, SAMs Club, etc to get my photos printed out. I enjoy making scrapbooks, so I need printed photos to do that.

It's pretty confusing now. I go in a week. If that's not too late, I can come back and post all the details. I bought MM this trip.
