Did you see Harry Potter? What did you think? SPOILERS inside!!

I absolutely loved it. I didn't mind the alterations that they made from the book to the movie. I think it's because I have learned that the directors have always made altercations to the films previous to this one, and I that I shouldn't expect different.

The way my theater was set up, I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (started at 6:00pm) then it was Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (started at 8:50pm) and finally Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! We arrived to the theater at 3:00pm and left at approximately 2:45am when the last film ended.

What was 11 hrs in the theater felt like nothing to me. I enjoy these films so much, and watching them back to back was incredible just to see how seamlessly they all fit together.

This one had it all. Adventure, romance, betrayal, comedy, and the best of all... Magic! It's amazing how they create a whole world that seems to realistic to me, the CGI blew me away. The twins were wonderful as always, and I actually loved the Harry/Hermione scenes (maybe because I have always hoped they'd end up together) but I thought they were adorable and it really showed the closeness of their friendship.

I think watching them back to make overwhelmed me with the amount of death Harry had to experience. Almost everyone he has ever loved, anyone who was ever protecting him and caring about him, they all died. The boy has seen so much death in his life, and it will only increase in part two. When Ron left I was almost in tears, because Ron and Hermione and the rest of the Weasley's (and the rest of the order) are his only semblance of a family.

I was very impressed with Helena Bonham Carter, that girl can do crazy! I was overall very blown away by the film, it's going to be very bitter sweet to watch the last one, there will be more tears for sure.

My issues:

- No backstory for Voldemort (is it weird that I am reluctant to type the name?). I am hoping they'll keep it in the last movie.
- The Harry/Ginny scene with the dress, it didn't fit or give a good perception of Ginny.

First of all, WOW, that is crazy they showed the last 3 all in a row! I don't know if any theaters around here did that. While I was only at the theater for 2 1/2 hours I agree it went so fast.

Second of all, the comment about Harry and all the death he has seen...I was telling my sister today the end of the next one, is going to be just a huge relief when everything is settled, like the last line of the book with the "all was well."

I just wanted to add that I also loved how they did the telling of the story of the Three Brothers. I thought that was very well done.

My wife and I both said the same thing. It was very well done. I'm glad they went with the shadow-puppet animation route instead of actual flashbacks. It seemed very Burton-esque, which fit well.

I agree, I thought it was also very well done.

All in all, I really liked the movie. I can't wait to watch it again. Like others have said, I wish they would have shown Harry and his relationship with Dudley. It was something I was looking forward too. Now I feel I have to reread the book, which is what I will probably do next weekend!

Loved it and can't wait to see it again with DH! :thumbsup2 I did regret not having a Dudley/Harry moment. Dobby, what can I say?:sad1:

We went to the midnight showing last night too. Dressed up. :banana:We all enjoyed it thoroughly, even those that had not read the books. We knew to be prepared for tears and they did it well. I was almost there when Hermione took care of her parents' memories. My issues with the movie overall are pretty minor. Would have liked to see the Dudley moment, I thought it was important to Harry's understanding that his "family" "loved" him in some capacity. I also would have liked to see the precautions Ron took to protect his family and why the horocrux affected him more than the others. I think the dancing moment in the tent helped to portray how having the weight of the horocrux removed lightened the overall mood. And the Ginny dress moment really was more about the continuation of their feelings of one another than anything else. It could have been done differently, but not a big deal IMO. The abrupt introduction of characters and the lack of back story for crucial story lines is really the result of relying too heavily on your audience having read the books and a lack of properly introducing themes in the last couple of films in the name of time. I'm still a little perturbed they never did Dumbledore's funeral. We never got to say good bye.

Part II is going to require a lot of tissues...Too many good byes.

I saw it today, and while i am a HUGE book fan, I thought they did a good job following along with this one. Some of the lines were taken word for word from the book.

I was alittle disappointed with Harry leaving Mad Eye Moody's eyeball behind, and the lack of Dumbledore's back story.

BUT...everything else blew me away! From the "beaded bag" to Luna's hippie-ish dad. I cried twice. Once when Hedwig died and for Dobby. As in the book his death caused me the most heartache.

I think where they left off was GREAT! I kept wondering how they were going to leave it...JOB WELL DONE!

I liked it! I wish there had more stuff from the book added to the movie, but overall I enjoyed it a lot

I love, love, loved it. Aside from what some previous posters mentioned about Lupin and Tonks being left out, I thought it was a great adaptation!

Dh and I saw it this morning. We both really liked it. I have read all of the books and dh hasn't read any of them. I think they stayed pretty true to the book. I can't wait for the ending!

That has been my biggest complaint about the last two movies -- the lack of attention to Tonks and Lupin. Aside from them being two of my favorite characters, I found them an incredibly big part of the books, in terms of Harry showing more maturity and how Lupin's fears of fatherhood affected Harry.

i'm pretty sure they alluded to Lupin and Tonks being married in the LAST movie, they just haven't mentioned that she's pregnant. because they got married in OOTP and then she was pregnant in DH.

i enjoyed the movie for the most part. there were only a few things i didn't care for. i thought the pace was a little slow. i know it's all building up for the second half of the movie, but there were times it kept dragging on and with them talking so much it just felt so slow.

the other part that kind of upset me was actually the very beginning. they didn't have Dudley being sort of decent to Harry....i was a little upset with that. i actually got teary eyed while reading that part in the book and was a little sad it didn't happen in the movie.

things i DID like tho:

Snape actually showed emotions when they were torturing the professor. i was kind of shocked, but happy that they did that. because he IS a person with feelings, after all. even tho sometimes even i forget it.

Draco seemed to actually want to HELP Harry in the movie, whereas in the book i didn't get that at all. because in the book he was just so "blah" about it "yeah it could be them, idk" but in the movie he said "i can't be sure!" and then gave Harry that look like "i know it's you, i'm not saying anything."

and i really liked the part where Harry started dancing with Hermione to cheer her up. i thought that was SO adorable!

i still got sad with the Hedwig and Dobby scenes too

We paid 20 dollars per ticket, and found it to be a really good investment. Originally I had bought tickets in Imax for the midnight premiere, but when I went back to see Due Date they had the promotional poster for the "Harry Potter Adventure" and I was like sign me up! :goodvibes While everyone was waiting the eight hours ahead outside (this had been me the last two midnight showings) we got to enjoy the movies while waiting for midnight to roll around. Plus they offered commemorative lanyards that read "I witness the beginning of the end." And you right, it will be a wonderful feeling knowing that Harry Potter finally is happy and has his family and friends through all of the darkness he had to experience.

For me this movie was exceptionally emotional. I have grown up with the books and to me it was like saying goodbye to my childhood. I don't remember how many countless days I spent reading them. I remember I was in first grade when the Sorcerer's Stone came out, and ever since I wished for my letter of acceptance to Hogwarts and waited for each new book and movie to come out. Now that it's almost over it's very sad to see it end. Though it will never truly end, I hope that someday when I have children they will fall in love with the series as I have, and I of course will never bore of reading the books or watching the films as they made me believe in magic and inspired me to become a writer.

I thought the movie was very well done! Of all the movies so far, I felt this one did the best job of showing the feeling of the book. There were things left out, of cours, and there were alterations to some scenes, but overall this was the best of them all, to me. I'k really looking forward to the final movie, and I think I'll do the midnight showing when it comes out, just for fun.

I loved the retelling of the story of the three brothers. I'd love to see that made into a picture book, lol!

I absolutely hated the floating Harry-and-Hermione-kissing thing...it just looked so cheesy compared to the rest of the movie! Who came up with that and what on Earth were they thinking??

I saw it this afternoon. I really enjoyed it. I agree with others about some of the things left out and a few things that were added. I am still on the fence if I will see part 2. I am just not sure I can watch that one character death. It took me almost 6 weeks to finish the last book due to that death.

Just got back and I really, really like it! I purposely didn't reread the book before, as I didn't want to compare too much.

The only comment that I want to make is about the Harry/Hermione dance scene. I actually thought it was really cute and heartfelt. I think that a lot of people just didn't get it. He wasn't trying to put the moves on her or anything. It has been very evident in the movies, especially Half-Blood Prince, how much they are best friends and he just wanted to cheer her up because she was so depressed about Ron. After their little dance/laugh when she got sad again and walked away, and Harry looked upset, a lot of people in the theater laughed, almost like they thought she rejected him but it wasn't that at all. He genuinely just wanted to make his friend happy.

I'll have to see it again because the ladies sitting behind me, who felt they needed to comment on every single thing that was happening, made it nearly impossible for me to get lost in the deep moments.

For the poster who asked what who asked what Beltrix was doing to Hermione when she was leaning over her and it looked like she was biting her. I am about 99% she was carving mudblood into her arm. They showed it a few minutes later in the movie.

I do have to agree that kretchers line about seriously maiming or harming Beltrix was the funniest line.

Saw it this afternoon with DD11. Having read the books together we were so glad this one was finally out and now can't wait for the next one.

We both liked it a lot. It was definitely my favorite so far. I felt none of the frustration of things being left out as I had with some of the others. I was so glad they did Dobbie so well. He was very neglected in some of the other movies. :) He got a place of honor this time.

I also agree that one of my favorite parts of the movie was the 3 brothers. It was just so beautifully done I was mesmerized.

Can't say I loved it. It felt disjointed. I've read Deathly Hallows three times and even my husband who hasn't read it thought the movie felt choppy.

It does set up part ii, but I wish they had just shown it as one long movie with an intermission instead of months long intermission. I really feel it was more about the $ than a creative decision.

They also left out so much... My review would be a 2.5 out of 5.

i LOVED that scene! i think it was my favorite in the whole movie because it just seemed so sweet. he just wanted to cheer her up and they had a nice time and a good laugh for a few minutes. it seemed to lighten the mood at least for a little while.

i don't think most people would want to sit in a theater for 5+ hours tho. so them spacing it out, imo, is a good idea.
