Did you see Harry Potter? What did you think? SPOILERS inside!!

For the poster who asked what who asked what Beltrix was doing to Hermione when she was leaning over her and it looked like she was biting her. I am about 99% she was carving mudblood into her arm. They showed it a few minutes later in the movie.

I do have to agree that kretchers line about seriously maiming or harming Beltrix was the funniest line.

Yes, Bellatrix was carving Mudblood into her arm. I also thought she was biting her arm initially, until they showed her new wound.

The "Seriously maim... or harm" line was spoken by Dobby. I hope they go into Kreacher's full story in the next film... Even though he essentially got yanked from the movies, his part in the entire story is pretty major. I doubt that they will though :(

I was able to see it last Sunday on a special preview :). The books are getting longer and longer and I knew it was not going to be the same as the book it never is. I think they did a good job much better than some of the other books. I am exited that they decided to do 2 parts instead of one big movie I think it would of been to long and hard to follow for people that haven't read the books. DH haven't read all the books thought it was a little slow but that is how the book is.

I agree, I thought it was also very well done.

All in all, I really liked the movie. I can't wait to watch it again. Like others have said, I wish they would have shown Harry and his relationship with Dudley. It was something I was looking forward too. Now I feel I have to reread the book, which is what I will probably do next weekend!
I think I'm going to reread it in the car next week on the long drive we have to extended family for Thanksgiving, and then watch it again after I read it.

Where did the movie leave off? I'm still recovering from surgery & can't sit comfortably for that long so I have to put it of for another week.:sad1:

Dobby's burial and Voldemort stealing the wand from Dumbledore's grave.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

We have it on CD for the car trips--its great to both get lost in the book together even though I am driving I can still "read" the book....and Jim Dales voices for the book are so good!

Saw it last night and thought they did a great job overall. I thought it was the best done movie since the first one. The omissions didn't bother me nearly as much as they did in other movies.
Even though I knew what was coming, I cried like a baby.:sad1:Not DS12, though. He said that there must have been a lot of dust in the theater because it made his eyes all itchy and watery. Just happened to be at the time of poor Dobby's death.
As far a bringing younger children, I wouldn't. I don't think this movie is appropriate for anyone under the ages of 10, maybe 9. It has a PG-13 rating for good reason. I don't think it has anything to do with bravery. My DD7 is quite brave but I won't be letting her see this movie until she is older. JMO

I have to agree. Even I jumped and screamed when the snake jumped out, lol. And, I think it just isn't suitable for little kids. 8 or 9 would be the absolute youngest, and really only if they've read the books.

I saw it at the midnight showing. I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan-although I've read the books. I went as a group thing. I like dark movies and I like this one. But I felt the movie is choppy and a bit confusing if you haven't read the books. (My 14 yr. old daughter hadn't read the books and was very confused.)

*I did discover a new hottie. The head "death seeker" dude-the one that smelled Hermoine.. Nick Moran:lovestruc

As most everyone else, I really liked the movie. I reread the entire series over the last couple of months in prep for this movie. I tried really hard not to compare the two, but I also missed:

The Dudley/Harry goodbye moment.

Wierd introduction of Bill and the glossing over of the werewolf connection/scene and how the family was finally able to bond with Fleur because of it.

Lupin and Tonks should have had more screen time and backstory.

I'm still miffed that the whole story of Percy Weasley turning his back on his family was never even mentioned in the last three films. I thought that was a pretty big deal.

The Kreacher backstory needed to be added and also, his change of heart.

There were other small ommissions, but I can live with it and thought that, overall, the film was well done.

I have such mixed feelings about the last film. I really want to see it, but at the same time I just know it's going to be so heartbreaking.

I have read the book and I'm looking forward to the film I'm going tomorrow to see it.

We went this morning with our 2 daughters age 8. They have seen all the previous films and have read some of the earlier books. I was a bit worried about taking them but they really wanted to go.

We all loved it. I'm a big fan of the books and have read them over and over again and I think this was my favourite movie. My husband and girls haven't read Deathly hallows and they loved it too, and managed to follow it.

As for the scary stuff I'd kind of preped them for the bad bits and I nudged my Husband when he needed to hold on to them. They found the snake at Godrics hollow to be the most frightening, and Dobby's death upset them, did me too.

Excellent job! I love all the books, our whole family knows the books inside and out and, hey, the movies just can't capture the depth and richness of the books. But for what it is, HP7 part 1 was great!:cool1:

- they did a good job of communicating the isolation of the tent months
- good job with the 3 Brothers story

I was disappointed that they didn't do the Dursley goodbye properly.

Can't wait to see it again!

I agree, it would've cost nothing to put in a proper Dursley goodbye. And I was disappointed they didn't do the Kreacher backstory too! Big letdown!

I'd forgotten the movies didn't touch the Percy scene - big shame. There's just so many backstories that the movies either gloss over or ignore altogether. So if you haven't yet, READ THE BOOKS!!!! YOU'LL LOVE THEM!!!:cool1::banana::cheer2:

I'm really trying to see the movies and books as different things as if I compare I'm so disappointed in the movies. My girlshave seen the films before reading the books and they are loving the extra details in the books.

We went today and really liked the movie. My DH has not read the books, he thought this was the best movie. I reread Half Blood Prince before the last movie and for me that was a mistake. I did not do that this time and although I remember the basic story I had forgotten the details so enjoyed the movie.

I may go through the book again now because I will again forget the details by July.

I saw it this afternoon, and I thought it was great. Probably the most faithful adaptation so far (although it did feel like half a movie). Next movie is going to be brutal.

I would have loved to see the redemption of Dudley too, but I feel like the Dursleys have been left out of the last two movies so much that it probably would have felt out of place at this point.

Saddest moment for me was at the very beginning with Hermione obliviating her parents and watching her disappear from the family photos. The death scenes and stuff I knew from the books I was ready for, although it didn't make any of them any less sad. And I did say a nasty word (that rhymed with "witch") when Bellatrix threw that dagger. It just sort of slipped out.

I knew where the split was going to be, but I was still like :scared1: when it ended. I can't believe it's going to be months before we see the rest of it!

haha, the snake scene with Bathilda (or "Bathilda") really creeped me out! I had forgotten about that part of the book but one of the girls I went with was gasping at a bunch of the intense parts and I had a feeling something strange was coming. I was so confused as to why she wasn't talking when they got to the house. Ahh it was so creepy!

It's funny because when I read the book the first time Dobby's death didn't really bother me but seeing it in the movie was so sad. :sad2::sad2::sad2: I did enjoy his line, like others have said about not wanting to kill, just maim or seriously injure. :rotfl:

Going tomorrow. Can't wait! DS is 15 and was 5/6 when the first movie came out. We watched it as a community with his school at a local theatre. I used a red marker and made a scar on his forhead every day at school. He's been Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and a Tormentor for Halloween in his lifetime. His backpack all through elementary school was Slytherin. Can't believe it's almost over.

I felt like there was this collective "OH NO!" from the audience when he grabbed everyone to leave...I think most people had read the book and knew what was coming. :sad2:
