Did I Do The Right Thing (Work Related)

B) I'm kind of the one who is the most caring around the office (comforts people having bad days, listens to my manager gripe about the owner and the reviewers, shares snacks, etc.) That's what I was trying to do when I went to my manager....find a way to have my coworkers comforted about their fears.
So I guess buddying up to someone and then turning around and tattling on them makes a very caring person.

I mentioned it to the other two clerks and they expressed a concern that they wouldn't have work to do and since I'm sort of closer to management than they are (not in position, but I just associate more with them and I am given more management type jobs to do) I went to my direct manager and told her there was a concern. She thanked me, basically said that the reason I thought they were doing it is the reason they are doing it, and went and explained it to the other clerks.

When I was at XYZ company for a number of years, I transferred from the Engineering dept(it had become too computerized for me and I wanted new challenges) to Sales/Customer service and absolutely loved it.

Several months later a big project was in the Engineering dept that needed to be done right, as it was to be duplicted several times. Ms Busybody-my co-worker "L" -wrote an e-mail to the president/boss that *I *should check this job(which I used to do in the Engineering dept). She sent me a copy. I was beyond LIVID! I told her to never again discuss anything about my work duties to maagement again-and we were not speaking for some time afterwards. Then Ms. Busybody wrote ANOTHER friggin e-mail to him and others sayiong"poor me, I shouldn't have said anything , just trying to help..yada yada".....it took a while to get the mess straightened ou as I had NO DESIRE to return to the Engineering dept and she had NO RIGHT to discuss MY buisness with management.

Reminded me of this situation.::yes::

I wasn't an *** kisser....I just did what students should do while they didn't just like I do what workers should do while most of my coworkers don't. Just because I do things right doesn't make me an *** kisser.

I don't think there is a need to get hostile to Becki, even if you don't agree with her.... Just IMO...

Becki, if you wanted to comfort your coworkers fears, you should have asked THEM how you could have helped instead of going over their heads and taking THEIR concerns to the manager.

I agree with IceQueen... You seem to be seeking approval from others quite often. You don't need us to tell you how you should feel about yourself and your actions. I'm glad you come to us for advice and us DISers are always here for that. But you don't need our approval.

Just something i noticed that was weird to me... you say you were the "smartest" in your class, and that you are the most "caring" at work... Who gave you these titles, or gave you the OK to declare them for yourself? I knew a boy genius in college who would never claim he was the smartest, though we knew he was... and he knew it too. Having studied psychology (i am NO expert though), there are some signs here of some sort of personality disorder... Not saying you have one, but just saying that there are some red flags here...

I think your 15 minute break is over...better get back to work before someone tells on you.

C) I rarely DIS at work, but I am allowed to take lunch and am allowed to take two 15 minute breaks during the day....I usually break my breaks up and that's fine with my manager.....If you added up the time I spend DIS'ing, you wouldn't get more than the amount of time they're legally required to give me for breaks.

You know it's great YOU feel you are all these things and more. Have you seriously thought about how your actions might affect you in the long run.

Also, has it crossed your mind that the very people you pissed off are the same people who might have to help you one day.

I hope this doesn't go over your head, but "The Same People You Meet On The Way Up Are The Same People You Meet On The Way Down.

Funny you should bring up the name "Ms Busybody".
I swear you remind me of that nosy neighbor on Bewitched. Hope I didn't hurt your feelings.......I'm just being honest!

:p ;)

Tell that to all the others who DIS and hang out on the net all day while THEY work. Surely you don't think Honeywolf is the only one doing this on company time..........

some of the more respected members of the DIS are getting paid to putz online all day. Make sure you're as "ticked" at them as you are with her...just to be fair.

when I tested my wpm last time I tested at 140.

Mrs. Barbara Blackburn of Salem, Oregon can maintain 150 wpm for 50 min (37,500 key strokes) and attains a speed of 170 wpm using the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard (DSK) system. Her top speed was recorded at 212 wpm. Source: Norris McWhirter, ed. (1985), THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS, 23rd US edition, New York: Sterling Publishing Co., Inc.

Wow you're near Guiness Book records for that!

Well, since the President/Owner of the company thanked me I know I did the right thing.

Sounds like he's attracted to you.

BTW I too am curious as to how your children reacted to being in a hurricane. Were they scared? Excited? Did they understand what was happening?

How did your new fiance handle them in that time of worry? Did you all hang out together in one place?

I don't know what your ksph would be, but when I tested my wpm last time I tested at 140. That's been a while, though.

Hey, that's quite an improvement from February 5 when you were typing "about 90". What's the secret? I'm currently a little over 100 and would LOVE to get up to 140 wpm.

Do you ever just feel like screaming......you know just like a stress release or something..........

Thank you!

Oh gosh yes Beauty, all the time!

*screaming loudly* ahhhhhhh that felt better.

How've you been? We're well into our fall weather here already with the leaves getting near-ready to turn those beautiful colors.
You should make a trip up to Minnesota some day JUST to see the gorgeous trees around Duluth/Lake Superior area.

One year we were moving the week that a Hurricane hit New Orleans....had to put all the boxes back in the attic and wait it out.:p When Andrew hit us, we got DH's metal boat out and the kids were paddling up and down the street.:p

But I can never remember my Dad working overtime when a hurricane was approaching.....
