I am getting ready to order our tickets. I'm trying to figure out the best delivery method. I'm paying with a Disney GC that will have our food budget left on it. It seems that if I choose the email delivery method I will need to take the GC with me. I really don't want to do that since there will still be quite a bit of money left on it. If I choose the U.S. Postal Service route, what happens if the tickets get lost on the way? I'm not interested in the UPS method since it costs quite a bit.

Email is better cause you get it immediately as an attachment you can print out at your convenience. And your giftcard is simply a mode of payment & isn't required to get into any of Disney's Magic Kingdom parties. Besides, your ticket will be on your MagicBands too which they can scan to see if you have a ticket. Still at the end of the day, simply choose a method that's comfortable for you, either way, you're going to have fun at the party. LOL. :)

When I went to check out, it says you need to show your original payment method and confirmation email in order to get tickets. Then it says guests with Magic Bands can skip this method. We will have Magic Bands, but it made me wonder if something went wrong with them, if I would need to have the GC.

No, you won't really need to show them your method of payment anymore thanks to MDE. If your Magicband give you any issues, you can go to the Guest Services kiosk at the MK entrance and they can see your tickets in MDE and they'll give you a card which you can use to get in. It's happened to me before a couple years back actually. LOL. My Magicband wasn't activated in their system correctly. So I went to the MK Guest Services kiosk, they saw my ticket on my MDE acct and gave me a card which I could use to scan with to get inside. So you'll be fine. :)

I've never had a ticket be lost.
I assume they'd send you a new one or you could pick it up at will call.
Also if you have magic bands linked to MDE you don't even need the physical ticket.
I ordered my MVMCP tickets back in April and received them within a week.
I ordered my MNSSHP tickets last Sunday evening and I assume they'll be here soon..

We had tickets sent to the wrong address this past year. Our address had been updated online but for some reason Disney didn't see it. ( We had recently moved ). I called and spoke to a wonderfully calm cast member who cancelled the original tickets, gave me a new confirmation and helped walk me through uploading it to my Magic Band. The only hassle was having to call back in but it was easy to fix.

Similar question: I have MNSSHP tickets in card from. The tickets do not show up on MDE. How do I get the hard tickets onto the magic bands. Thanks

On Disney's website, sign in to your MDX account.

On top right, hover over My Disney Experiance

Click "My Reservations and Tickets"

Scroll down to the "Link Tickets" button (click it)

You'll be taken to a screen where you input the ID Number that is on the back of your card

Hope that helps.

If the guest prints out the tickets with the bar codes on them, they can be taken directly to the Touch-Point entry and scanned by the Park Greeter CM for entry without having to go to Will Call or Guest Relations. "Sometimes", not very often, when the guest presents a paper ticket or a ticket on a phone, when the CM scans the barcode with the handheld, it will ask for the CM to verify the card that was used for payment. When this happens the CM just has to verify the last 4 of the credit card or gift card, not the entire card number. This doesn't happen a lot lately but still does every so often. Not sure if it is just random security checking or whether the system just verifies certain types of payments. Has been that way for a couple of years now with the update of the ticket scanning with the handheld devices the Park Greeter CM's use.

So this could also happen if using Magic Bands instead of paper tickets?

No, would only happen with either paper ticket media or with ticket media on an electronic device where the PG CM would have to scan the bar code with the handheld to verify that it is valid ticket media.

One more question:
If I have the tickets emailed, are they automatically linked to my Magic Bands or do I have to link them in MDX?

We didn’t get actual tickets when we went. They just linked to our MB and the CM scanned our bands. I was really nervous about not having actual tickets but every time I called they assured me it would be fine (and it was) but still nerve wracking. I don’t know why they couldn’t send us anything even via email? Maybe because we’re Canadian?

So did you call and order the tickets? I'm wondering if they link them for you if you order via phone.

For everyone else, if you order online and choose email delivery, do you have to do anything else to link them in MDX or are they automatically linked when you order?

If (IF) the purchased tickets don't automatically show up in your MDX,
then just manually input the emailed ticket number(s) into the "My Reservations and Tickets" section of your MDX.

Technically, when you order party tickets online the default delivery method is “will call” but they email you with confirmation info / a bar code. One can use this to pick up a hard ticket card at a ticket window if one desires, although it’s not usually needed. When you buy tickets online, you have to assign them to a MDX profile - so once you purchase them they are linked to that profile and MBs can be used if you have them (but like Robo said, check the My Tickets section to make sure they are there). Some people do still like to pick up a hard ticket as a backup in case of any unexpected snafus. Or you can select a different delivery method and have them mailed to you.

If you buy party tickets by phone, they are NOT linked to any MDX profile (even though they take your name). You have to manually link them to a MDX profile. If you order by phone, they mail you a hard card ticket.

Hope that all makes sense!

Thanks! I am wanting to go ahead and order the tickets tomorrow since we have everything else finalized. I think I'll do the email delivery, and I'll check to make sure they are linked. But I may end up transferring the balance on my GC to one of my extra empty GCs so that I can take the "original form of payment" just in case. I would feel much more comfortable carrying around a GC with a zero balance.

I didn't. I ordered them online via the Disney website and they just automatically linked to our MB.

Just an update to my post that I said I've never had an issue with tickets being lost in the mail...
ordered my August 31st MNSSHP tickets on Sunday July 29th and I received them in the mail today.
There's really nothing to it in my opinion.

I haven't bothered to print the tickets the last two times. They just scanned our MBs. I didn't need to do anything to link our tickets since I used the same e-mail that I use for MDE. It was automatic.
