Delicious Bites, Halloween Frights & Character Delights. NEW PTR HAS BEGUN!

Your plans look great! We stayed at POR in 2004 - my first ever WDW trip - and i thought it was extremely beautiful! I hope you will enjoy your stay there. Have you requested a specific area?

Since you said you wanted to add another ADR: What about a late breakfast at Tusker House on Thursday? I really loved the food there this January (see review here)

Congrats on getting those nights at POR. I can't wait to see photos from there. If I've stayed there before, I don't remember it, and I think it's so pretty from what I can see online, so I'm curious to see what you think of it as well.

Sorry about the Little Mermaid on Broadway closing. That's a big bummer. I have to agree with you, Ursula is definitely one of my favorite villains. I don't know, she's just got something about her that just reeks of sinister evil in a way that I can actually appreciate. :lmao:

Good times...I love me some Little Mermaid and it makes me giggle a little inside that you know your own personal Ursula!!!!

I can't wait for you to figure out your plans cuz that means you can help me figure out mine LOL!!!!!!! I'm kinda hoping you'll come over and see me on Friday at AK...but I don't ask for much LOL!!! (you know I'm kidding)!!!

Now I want to watch the Little Mermaid LOL!!!!!! Wonder if I can convince the inlaws LOL...I'll let you know how that one goes!

OMGoodness! My Mother in Law, who my kids call Mema, is a wonderful loving awesome woman. She does have very short grey hair and is on the "fluffier" side. Well my kids whenever they see Ursula always say "Hey, she reminds us of Mema!" So to read that on your post made me laugh!

Your trip sounds great, how fun to meet so many other DIS pals!

Allyson:surfweb:

I can't believe that the Little Mermaid is already shutting down! Didn't it just start not too long ago? :confused3 That would be really cool if they did do a national tour...I know Mary Poppins is and the Lion King was here last year.

Ok, I am already in full swing researching this and am all set to get started! I have been struggling with very dry hair for so long, so this sounds like it might work really well with my hair! :goodvibes

LL - thanks for your patience, I promise no more OT hair talk!!

It is! :lmao: In the winter time I'd actually sleep with it plopped since my thick hair takes so long to dry.

You can all talk hair anytime you want!! :thumbsup2

Thanks LL for letting us go OT a bit! :goodvibes

I used to leave my 'plop' on for a couple hours, I couldn't ever sleep with it on at night, so I tried some other scarves and things, but they always came off about halfway through the night. So, I ended up just putting my hair above my head with a loose scrunchie around it, that seemed to work pretty well for me.

It took quite a while for me to find my routine and products, but once I did-it was so nice! Half the fun was figuring it out anyway. Keep us posted on how you do Floss!

So the plan is....

Sunday 9/27 - Thursday 10/1: 4 Nights at Old Key West. :yay:

Thursday 10/1 - Saturday 10/3: 2 Nights at Port Orleans Riverside. :yay:

I'm sorry for your hectic week! It seems like that epidemic has been going around - it's been a bit nutty here too. I've snuck in a few minutes here and there of DISing, but not anything serious enough to catch up!

:yay: for extra nights!!!!!!!!! POR looks sooooo very beautiful every time I see it in pics. :cloud9:

Your dining plans look delicious. I like your idea of paying OOP for Chef's and keeping the TS for Thursday.

Choice One - Go to MK, have breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and then back to MK. Head to AKL for Jiko.
Choice Two - Animal Kingdom until time for Jiko. Maybe get a later start since I'd be there the majority of the day.

That is a hard choice. I would probably hit MK in the morning, then 1900 Park Fare and then AKL if I had the hopper. Or you could to a Tusker House breakfast, but that means no Mary Poppins.

Marc: How long has your grandmother been spending winters in Florida?

Me: Only since she met Roger (her husband), so the last 10 years or so. Why?

Marc: (In a totally serious voice) I was just wondering if the animators saw her on the street one day and decided to model Ursula after her.

Me: Laughing uncontrollably.

:rotfl2: That is so funny!!

Don't worry about coming off as heartless or mean - you don't! :goodvibes DH also had one of those Grandmothers. It kinda breaks his heart a bit to know that he never was able (or wanting to) get close to when she was alive. Thankfully he had another Gramma who was AWESOME. And now he has mine, who rocks my socks right off. :lovestruc

I'm a bit jealous as POR is somewhere I've been wanting to explore myself. The grounds/landscaping/theming/ambience seem magical, even more so when you have the time to stroll around and not be rushed. Congrats on the extra night!

I'm a park hopper kinda guy. Especially with DHS and Epcot. You can do DHS and then take the boat over to Epcot....love it...

Jiko....heaven
I feel the same way about POR. It just seems magical to me. POR and Wilderness call to me in the same way. I do like park hopping...last trip with my feet though I just never got around to it. I am seriously excited for Jiko. :cloud9:

I have requested a specific area. The mansion section...I really hope I can get in there. I don't care what Mansion but I want to feel very Southern Belle while I stay there.

I really can't wait to explore. I really think it might be a good option for Marc and I if WL isn't in the budget for our next trip. I can appreciate her type of evil too...not sure what that says about me! :rotfl2:

I totally know my own personal Ursula. I'd rather trade her in for say...Belle's father but there you go. :rotfl:

I would be more than happy to help you with your plans. :goodvibes

Just tell your inlaws that you have a movie that stars my grandmother...I am sure they'll want to watch it then. :lmao:

LL- Did you get my PM from earlier in the week?
I did. I am sorry that I didn't respond, I have now!

OMGoodness! My Mother in Law, who my kids call Mema, is a wonderful loving awesome woman. She does have very short grey hair and is on the "fluffier" side. Well my kids whenever they see Ursula always say "Hey, she reminds us of Mema!" So to read that on your post made me laugh!

Hehehe. That is too funny. My Mema even has the hair too. It's too funny!

I think it officially opened in Jan. 2007 or 2008...not sure. I am dying for Mary Poppins to come to Boston...it just has too! :worship:

Thanks LL for letting us go OT a bit! :goodvibes

Thanks for making feel better about sounding heartless. My other three grandparents were amazing, especially my Grandma B. So I am lucky.

I'm still working out the kinks in my plans but want to commit some ideas to paper this afternoon so I can finalize them a bit. :thumbsup2

Great post. Ursula is a fantastic villain. I'm really hoping that the Little Mermaid tour does get off the ground since there's no way I'll be able to make it to New York in the next month. I've heard mixed reviews of it, but I love the music (I have the Broadway Cast Album and actually like a lot of the new songs they added too), so I think it would be worth it to see it.

OMG!! I just laughed outloud about the comment Marc made!! I think my dbf thinks I'm crazy!! You're plans sound good to me. I love the Little Mermaid, it was my favorite movie when I was little!! I'm so sad it's closing on Broadway. Do you know when? I may see if my mom wants to go to NYC for a day with me to see it. We live close enough too so we can go up for just the day. Plus they're always running bus trips there so we wouldn't even have to drive. Hmm I may have to get on that!!

Congrats on getting your extra days at POR! We stayed at POFQ on our first trip and loved it.

Your schedule looks good. Not sure what I would do, my brain is a little jumbled trying to figure out everything before I make my ADRs tomorrow.

You and Marc had me cracking up with your Ursala post. :)

I've read the mixed reviews too but I think it has to be good and that I'd enjoy seeing it. It's looking like I might not be able to shoot over to NYC, so I hope that the tour gets going too. I'll have to look for the music.

Hopefully you can make it up there! The last show is August 30th.

I'm very happy about my extra days at POR.

I understand the jumbled brain in regards to ADRs!

I love the Little Mermaid! It is the Disney movie I remember watching over and over again when I was 10 or 11. I have the soundtrack that I play in my classroom. I really hope they do a traveling show (and that it comes someplace close to me). :goodvibes

Thanks for joining in! Are you going to be doing a PTR for your upcoming trip? :rolleyes1

I am all caught up. I will do a PTR when I know for sure that we are going. It is 99% sure but I am just waiting to see if my dh's vacation is approved. It should be (I hope so I already bought plane tickets:rolleyes1) but I don't want to start it then have to cancel it. I love the list of your favorite characters. Alexia and I watched both Caseys yesterday. She wanted more. :rotfl: I love old disney cartoons, much better than the new ones, though I do like Phineas and Ferb. I balled the first time (and still do) I saw Pollyanna. Do you remember when the ABC channel out of Portland used to show the old Disney movies after school? We used to love watching those. During the winter every weekend my dad would go and rent the old Disney movies and we used to watch them all together. Those are some good memories.

You should try to get a chance to see the Little Mermaid on Broadway. I just went last weekend with the family for my mother's birthday. It was wonderful. I think that I liked Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King a bit better but Mermaid was still wonderful. If you check out broadwaybox.com you can see if they have any discounts running for it. We had seats in the mid mezzinine section and they were great. We had a wonderful view of the entire stage.

The woman who plays Ursula was wonderful, as was Sebastian. They made Ursula Ariel's aunt in the Broadway version, so now my nieces keep calling me Aunt Ursula. :rotfl: My younger niece loves Ursula. She kept telling me during the show that "Ursula isn't really bad." She thinks she just gets a bad rap or something I guess. :lmao: Even when she was younger, about 3 or so, when we saw the Little Mermaid show at DHS, the rest of the kids would be screaming when Ursula came out, and she'd be clapping up a storm. She's a little odd sometimes.

Next week we were going to take the girls to see Mary Poppins to celebrate their birthdays, but they don't have any good discount codes running for the matinee shows. I think we are going to see Shrek instead, which is supposed to be pretty good. I'll just have to see Mary Poppins by myself.

:rotfl::rotfl:

I dont think you are heartless at all. In fact I totally get what you are saying. Both my grandmothers were very sweet women, however, DH has one that is the same way.

Now that she is older and in bad health he has tried giving her the benefit of the doubt and tried being nice. Although some days she does not know who you are on the days she does she will look straight at you and say "You sure have gotten fat." this was normal for her in the past before the dementia. Unfortonately, the dementia has not made her any nicer.

As a child she would send my DH two sisters and his Mom a Christmas gift and not send DH anything because she just didnt like him. Can you imagine a Grandmother doing that.

Mean little lady, thats all I have to say.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hey LL:

I don't know how I got soooooo far behind on your PTR, but I did. I am so excited that you are staying an extra night. 6 nights is so perfect. I know you are going to love POR. That was my first on site Disney stay and I have very fond memories of it. I can definately see you staying in one of the mansions cause you have that whole southern belle look going on (even if you are a northerner ).

I have no suggestions on your plans and ADR's. Everything sounds great to me and I can't wait to read your final itinerary.

I hope you have a less hectic week this week!

We will be there almost the exact same time, we get in on 9/26 and leave 10/3! I am glad you posted your thoughts on your schedule because I didn't realize EMHs had changed until I read some of the comments. I don't think it's going to change my plans, but it is good to know. :thumbsup2

I love  the look of the Mansions. We stayed at POFQ on our last trip and when we were on the bus I would look out the window and dream about staying in the mansions one day, my DH would rather stay in Alligator Bayou but until he starts handling the planning, that won't be happening. :rotfl: The list of places that I want to stay is much longer than the budget is going to allow.

I am dying for Mary Poppins to come to Boston...it just has too! :worship:

AGREED!! I'd be willing to head into NYC with you to see The Little Mermaid. I don't know when I'd fit it in but we can try. I have to see it!

Soo sad about the Little Mermaid on Broadway !! :sad2: I, too, was also hoping to see it someday.... I know we won't be out by August though because there is a Red Sox game we need to go to and I think you know which one is more important to my DH! :lmao: I know just what you're talking about with the relationship with your grandmother, but it is good that you can find humor in that situation!! My grandmother and I have little/ no relationship due to the fact that she is extremely judgemental and well.. mean! She is nothing like Ursala though... imagine Emily Gilmore from the 'Gilmore Girls' and you have my grandmother
